Gold, Silver and Crystal Tricks & Cheats: Rare Gameshark Codes |
I stumbled across some rare Gameshark Codes in one of my cupboards for G/S that not many sites have. As usual I've tested all of the codes.

To change the happiness of the first Pokémon in your party- change the XX to the corresponding letters below:

01XX45DA

To change the sex of the first Pokémon in your party into a male:

To change the sex of the first Pokémon in your party into a female:

Beware! Changing gender could ever so slightly change the attack power of your Pokémon because the gender relies on the Attack DV.

To make the first Pokémon in your party be shiny:

Oh, right, male Pokémon had higher Attack IVs than females in Gen II (which was more realistic).

I want to make my hitmonchan shiny, because I don't like him pink in the game, it doesn't make him look badass xD. Meanwhile, a shiny one wouldn't hurt. I tried putting in the codes and activating them, but my hitmonchan is still regular! He is in the front of my party, am I doing something wrong?

That's not a bug. In gold version when you battle a shiny you can't escape.

Hay, why dose the shiny cheat for Crystal never allow you to encounter shiny female Pokemon because I'm getting really mad.

I'm aware that it's been years since anyone's posted here, but just in case any of you wanted to know or maybe anyone looking for the answer as you all were then hopefully it finds and helps them. But the 'Convert to Shiny Pokemon' cheat, that's wrong. Or at least I haven't noticed it to work or any one or 2 codes active didn't for me. Since I don't know if this happens with a standard GBC game + Gameshark, this is mainly in regards to any emulator Pokemon Crystal games. Starting off, SAVE YOUR FILE (both IN GAME and in whatever Save State you've been using if you've used an emulator), then change the Save State to the next one up just in case it would completely breaks your game file (not saying it will, it *shouldn't*, but can't be too safe, right? Especially if you have a lot of progress and hours plugged) so you'll have the copy of your file prior to any cheat changes. NOTE: *ALWAYS* save your game (in-game and on the new save state you use) EVERY time you convert a new pokemon to a shiny, otherwise the conversion won't be permanent and will go back to normal once you deactivate the cheats after you reload your game since it glitches out. Okay moving on! Once that's done, go to your cheats input menu, create four new cheats in whatever emulator you're using/gameshark entry, input each of these values as a new cheat: 01EA3FDA 01AA40DA 91EAF4DC 91AAF5DC So, make a new cheat, input first line sequence, name it as something like, "Convert to Shiny (First Slot) 1", toggle it ON, add a new cheat below it, and then do the same for the others. Doing that with all four together active will convert whatever pokemon is in the first slot to a shiny. HOWEVER, in case this happens to any of you so you know how to deal with it: I noticed that inputting this and applying the changes, it glitches your file and half-breaks, so to speak. You won't be able to switch any of your pokemon or anything like that unless it's resolved properly. After you convert whatever pokemon you wish to, deactivate (turn OFF; cause if you try and reload your file after closing the content, it will still be glitched out and you won't be able to switch any pokemon to convert a new one, so this has to be done EVERY TIME, same with the other steps) *all* four of the cheats, SAVE YOUR FILE (in-game & save state [I think only the first is necessary, but I like to do both to be extra secure just in case]; don't worry, it should be fine - especially if you follow the suggestion of using a new save state and would only have to load the previous save slot number to reset everything), then CLOSE CONTENT - not Quit or Close the emulator itself or Reload/Reset ROM/Content - so it properly updates the save file. Then simply Load Core > Load Content > load your game, switch a new pokemon you want converted to slot one, open the cheats menu to turn the same four cheats ON like before and (to make sure it registers) hit APPLY CHANGES, Save In-Game + Save State, turn OFF the cheats again, close content, load up game (and Core if needed if you use Retroarch) again like before and repeat for however many pokemon you wish to convert. Yes, I know this is a frustrating process with several steps that seem more tedious than it's worth, but once you start the process and go through the steps, and is actually pretty simple to execute once you do it a few times to take only about a few minutes per conversion, honestly. So if you follow the process how I mentioned, you should be able to properly convert any pokemon to a shiny without causing any damage, breaking your save file, or anything else. Enjoy your new Shiny Pokemon! :) Hope this helps!
