You're going to have to figure out this puzzle on yourself - don't worry, it's an easy one. The trainers use types that you've seen before, and should be easy with grass, water and psychic types. Giovanni is harder because of his high levels, but how to beat him depends for a large part on your team. Grass and Water types defeat most of them, with a fighting type for his Persian in Yellow. Good luck!

Now look at that.. you've just gotten your eigth gymbadge! Now, it's time to go and challenge the Elite Four and become the Champion. Let's go to the Indigo Plateau! For this, simply go to Route 22, where your rival will challenge you first.

Red/Blue:

Rival
Pidgeot
Rhyhorn
Alakazam
Gyarados or Blastoise*
Growlithe or Charizard*
Exeggcute or Venusaur*
Base Money: 65

* Of these three, one of them will be the starter your rival choose, the other two will be the other mentioned.

Yellow:

Rival
Kadabra
Sandslash
Exeggcute
Ninetales or Flareon*
Cloyster or Vaporeon*
Magneton or Jolteon*
Base Money: 65

* Of these three, one of them will be what your rival's Eevee evolved into, the other two will be the other mentioned.

A varied team with rather high levels. If you've been training, you should be able to defeat him, although he's arguably harder than Giovanni. You'll need the power for the future moves, though. Continue, and enter the Pokemon League building!

No new Pokemon to catch here, no trainers to fight. Just a lot of people who need to check whether you have all your badges. Just go on to Victory Road

First of all, there are lots of Strength 'puzzles' in here, where you need to push boulders onto switches. You'll see the first when you enter. They aren't difficult if you watch out a bit, and you can always reset it by leaving the area and reentering it.The first boulder here, for example, can easily be moved to the switch to the far right.

There's two items on this floor, but you can only get one of them at a time, and have to leave and return to get the other. The top one is TM43, the left one Rare Candy. You get there by going up the hill, and then take the right turn, down, and around the hill. To continue go the other way. You'll battle the two trainers, and can then go up the stairs to the next area, where it really starts.

If you hadn't noticed yet, these trainers are tougher than before.. and without any healing in sight. And the wild Pokemon must be annoying as well by now. This is why I hate these caves, and Victory Road especially. First, push the boulder on the switch. Fight two trainers, and go left for TM05. The go completely right, and up past the hill. Go around it, and next to the trainer is TM17. If you go up and right further, you can pick up TM17. There's a bit in the top left we can't get to yet, and where we find Moltres, and a room in the east where the exit is, and we'll get to that later as well. For now, just go up the ladder again.

Don't ask me about the Venomoth, I don't understand it either.. There's a lot to do here. To the right, there's a Max Revive. Go to the left to get TM47, and take the boulder with you to place on the switch as well. Go down the stairs here to get a Guard Spec, and yes, finally, battle the last of the three legendary birds, Moltres. It's a tough battle, considering you've been walking around here for a while, so good luck with it! I can't offer many more hints than I've given about the other legendary birds here.

When you go back, you can now go up the hill and past it. Push the boulder into the hole, and jump after it. Then push the boulder to the right switch. Climb up the hill to the now revealed ladder. Walk up to the ladder, and finally, exit the cave. Congratulations, you've passed through it, and can now avoid this area in favour of using Fly. Phew.
