Red, Blue and Yellow Walkthrough: Part 17 |

Indigo Plateau

Okay, this is it. Time to battle the Elite Four. You may want to train - these trainers are very tough, and your Pokemon really need to be level 55-60 to even have a chance. A fire, psychic, water, ice and electric Pokemon, together with another strong Pokemon should cover your grounds against the first four trainers pretty well, but the fifth uses a strong mixed team. You may want to experiment and see what you've got based on the trainer descriptions below. Bring lots of Revives and Full Restores with you. You may want to save before you actually enter.. if you're ready, get ready to beat the E4 and become the Pokemon Champion!

Lorelei
Dewgong
Cloyster
Slowbro
Jynx
Lapras
Base Money: 99

These are all part Ice Pokemon. Jynx can be beaten with a Fire Pokemon, the others with an Electric type. Grass types might work as well, except for the Ice type moves these Pokemon support, and the fact that there are few really damaging Grass type moves. Heal, and move on to the next.

Bruno
Onix
Hitmonchan
Hitmonlee
Onix
Machamp
Base Money: 99

Use Psychics for the fighting type Pokemon, and Water Pokemon for the Onixes. This is a rather easy battle.

Agatha
Gengar
Golbat
Haunter
Arbok
Gengar
Base Money: 99

You can use Psychics against all of these, and Ground types against all but Golbat. Watch out for their sleep and confusion moves, that's the hardest. Heal, and go on.

Lance
Gyarados
Dragonair
Dragonair
Aerodactyl
Dragonite
Base Money: 99

An Electric type move against Gyarados and Aerodactyl. For the three dragons, use Ice types. No, it's not easy. Never said it was. Move on to..

Red/Blue:

Rival
Pidgeot
Rhydon
Alakazam
Gyarados or Blastoise*
Arcanine or Charizard*
Exeggutor or Venusaur*
Base Money: 65

* Of these three, one of them will be the starter your rival choose, the other two will be the other mentioned.

Yellow:

Rival
Alakazam
Sandslash
Exeggutor
Ninetales or Flareon*
Cloyster or Vaporeon*
Magneton or Jolteon*
Base Money: 65

* Of these three, one of them will be what your rival's Eevee evolved into, the other two will be the other mentioned.

This is a hard battle. Type matchups differ with the Pokemon, and what you do here heavily depends on your team. Good luck, if you got past the previous battles, prepared yourself, and of course healed your Pokemon, you should be able to do it.

Yes, you've now beaten the main RPG part of the game. Congratulations on becoming the Pokemon Champion! There's only one more area to visit now, the Unknown Dungeon. Fly to Cerulean City, and heal your Pokemon. Remember that cave a man was standing in front of, near the exit of Route 4? Surf there, and you will be able to enter.

These dungeons look different depending on the version you play. Be sure to bring lots of Ultra Balls or your Master Ball to catch the legendary Pokemon contained within.

Red/Blue: When you enter, you can get Max Elixer and Full Restore through surfing. Go down the first stairs (before searching) and walk around for a Nugget. Go down the stairs on the first 'hill' and walk around for Max Elixer. Up the next hill you can find Nugget. Surf completely around the rock you enter on, and the one adjacent to it. Go up, and walk right and down and go off the hill. Go completely left, and up to the stairs. Walk right and take the second down, at the end go left. The first way up leads to a Full Restore. Walk to the end, and follow the path up and to the right until there's an opening up. Go through it, and left and up to another set of stairs. Walk right and then left and go down. You'll end up in the cellar. Go up and right to go off the hill. To the right there's a hill with Max Revive. Go completely left, down, to the right, and back up another hill. Walk to the left to pick up Ultra Ball. Go down and surf to the right and then up. Basically, follow the path now until you reach a hill. Mewtwo is on this one.. for more, read below.

Yellow: Here, we'll immediately need to surf. Go up the first bit of land for Max Elixer. Then Surf further and go up to the first ladder. Walk right for an Ultra Ball, and go in a general down direction until you can't go further, and then go right. Keep going roughly to the right, pick up a Max Revive, and go on until you reach a hall that goes completely upwards. Go down the stairs, and walk to the left. Go down and Surf for a Rare Candy, go up the hill for an Ultra Ball, and walk down and right and then up the hill for another ladder you need to go up. Go up a bit. Completely to the right and down is a Full Restore. Go down almost immediately and then right and further down, until you need to turn around and go fully up, to reach another ladder down. Yes, take it. Go left and at the end down and again up for stairs back to the paths...
Again, right, down, left, and down for a Rare Candy, and up for more ladder fun. Go right, down, left for the ladder to the cellar. Follow the path, you'll pass a Max Elixir. When you need to Surf, you can go right for Ultra Ball and Max Revive, and right to continue. Land, up and down hill, an Ultra Ball to the right and up, and go down, surf some more, for a hill with Mewtwo.

Mewtwo. The most powerful Pokemon in the RBY era. Use your Masterball if you have it and don't feel like the bother, or prepare for a long battle Whatever you do, SAVE FIRST! Before you know it, you'll have the king of legendaries.

The end

So, you've beaten the Pokemon league, caught Mewtwo.. what now? Well, first of all, you can try to catch all Pokemon. There's 150 (or 151 when you include Mew, but that's not relevant for our purpose). When you have them all, you'll get some diploma showing you've gotten them all. Cool. Further, you can go ahead with what is considered the most important part of the games - battling. Train your Pokemon up to lvl 100, and create a good team, and battle real people - who are much better than the real trainers.

But whatever you do, have fun!
