Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald Emerald-specific Stuff: Typhlosion's Impressions |

It landed on my desk like a football onto Manchester United’s training pitch. It had me drooling looking at it. It had me ripping the packaging off it and shoving it into my GBA, only to realise I hadn’t taken it out of the box yet.

What is it? Pokemon Emerald. What else could it be? I’ve heard so much about it, I simply had to go on it straight away.

And that’s exactly what I did. I haven’t got very far as of yet, but these are my initial impressions and things I’ve found out, that you obviously all care terribly about. Woo.

It’s Green – Just in case you forget which game you’re playing, almost EVERYTHING that could be green is green. I’m not a big fan of green myself, meaning it got headache inducing after just five minutes. The Pokedex especially.
Item Images – Yup, they’ve kept them. The layout in which they’re viewed looks slightly different, but at least you can still tell you are buying what you want and not drugs. Unless you want drugs, of course.
Zigzagoon – Prof. Birch is now being attacked by a Zigzagoon when you meet him. No comment…
A Brief Change in Storyline? – May has left a Pokeball in her room, yet as soon as you go to pick it up, she appears and then the usual story continues. Yeah – that’s it.
Animations – Pokemon now move in battle like in Crystal. But you knew that. But guess what – the Pokemon YOU send out also has an animation now. Didn’t know THAT did you?
Wooden Boards – The signs telling you where you are, have once again been given a lovely wooden look.
Vigoroth – The Machoke movers must have gone out of business, since you now have Vigoroth’s helping you with your luggage.
New Clothing – It’s new. Duh. It’s green. Duh.

And now, I shall answer those essential questions:

What are my first impressions are playing the game?
It’s okay. Not mind blowing at the beginning of the game. But I guess the new features (e.g. Battle Frontier) will make it all worthwhile.

Is it good? Does it improve on R/S?
The jury’s still out, but I’m sure it will do.

What’s good? What’s bad?
New Features I haven’t seen yet = Good.
Same storyline at beginning = Bad (but expected).

Why is Psythor so brilliant?
Why indeed…
