Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald Emerald-specific Stuff: Changes |
This page is intended to tell you all the changes in storyline, all the new places and all the new features. More detailed pages will follow in due time!

Battle Frontier

Obviously, there's now a Battle Frontier situated where the singular Battle Tower used to be. Here you can play the seven new Battling features. There's also a wild Sudowoodo (use the Wailmer Pail to battle it) and a cave full of wild Smeargle.

Entry Call

The PokeNav now has a feature called the Entry Call. It's exactly like the phone you had in GSC.

Trainer Hill

A new Trainer Tower has appeared just above Mauville City.

Illusion Pillar and the Underground Cave

After you speak to a certain fossil maniac, a pillar of sand known as Illusion Pillar will appear in that sandstorm desert. Climb it and on top you'll find the familiar fossils. Pick one, and the tower will collapse, leaving the other to disappear. However, after you've defeated the Elite 4, go back to the Fossil Maniac's house in Fallarbor Town, and you'll see a cave has appeared. At the end of it lies the other fossil.

Team Magma and Mt. Chimney

At Mt. Pyre, instead of an orb you'll receive something called the Magma Symbol. Using this, you can access the new Magma Hideout in Mt. Chimney. You'll find Maxie at the end of it, as he awakens Groudon.

Team Magma and the Space Station

Team Magma have also taken over the Mossdeep Space Station. Steven helps you in battle to get it back!

The Big Battle

After Kyogre is also awakened the normal way, you have to go to the Sky Pillar and awaken Rayquaza who stops the fighting. All before the 8th Gym.

Gyms and Elite Four

The Gyms have been given an upgrade (click here) but so has the Elite 4. Ardan is now the Gym Leader of Sootopolis, Wallace is now the Champion, and Steven now 'lives' in Meteor Falls. Interesting...

National Dex

As soon as you've beaten the Elite Four, Birch will give you the National Dex. Simple.

Lati-who?

After defeating the Elite Four, you'll see TV Reports on a mysterious bird flying around Hoenn. Mum will ask you what colour is was. Say Red, Latias enters the game. Say Blue, Latios enters the game.

Land Cave and Sea Cave

There's now two new caves. Land Cave is located after defeating the Elite Four on either Route 114, 115, 116 or 118. Groudon is now found here at Level 70. Sea Cave is located on either Route 105, 125, 127 or 129. Kyogre is now found here at Level 70. You can find out the current locations of both caves by visiting the Weather Institute on Route 119.

Safari Zone

After defeating the Elite 4, the Safari Zone becomes slightly bigger, and is home to lots of new Pokemon, such as Miltank, Mareep, Pineco and Snubbull.

Altering Cave

The Magic Cave makes it's Hoenn debut on Route 103!

A HUGE thanks to Jelmer for the images!
