XD: Gale of Darkness Other Pages: Battle CD Guide |
Battle CDs – a new thing in Pokemon XD that lets you do virtual battles (unfortunately you don’t keep the Pokemon, unlike what Mirror B’s sidekicks thought, silly people).

It all starts when you go to Phenac and get spoken to by the wifey. She claims you’re the 1,000,000th visitor to Phenac and gives you a Disc Case, where you can put your discs (Hence the name Disc Case). As well as the Disc Case, she gives you discs 1, 7 and 20 before sending you off to Realgem, where not only you find out that there was about 20 other 1,000,000th visitors to Phenac, but also you can try out your Battle CDs right away in the Battle Corner (right door of the Realgem Tower main lobby, talk to the woman to have a shot at playing or buying discs).

Here are all the Discs, their locations, and how to clear the flipping things:

#1
Phenac Front Gate Lady
Flying vs Flying, Beat the Opponent in two turns!
Pidgeot – Lv.50
Tropius – Lv.50
Double Edge it to begin, then use gust when it uses Fly. Should work, providing it doesn’t miss (which it should as accuracy is 100%).
#2
Buy from the Battle CD corner, only 1000 Pokedollars!
Passive against Active, Beat the Opponent! (Unlimited turns)
Wartortle – Lv.50
Drowzee – Lv.50
Counter its Strength first (that’s what it did to me) and then alternate between the two. E.g. First turn: Counter Strength, Second Turn: Mirror Coat Confusion, Third Turn: Counter… etc.
#3
Buy from the Battle CD corner, only 1000 Pokedollars!
Making use of gaps, Single Battle, Beat the Opponents in 13 turns!
Quagsire – Lv.50, Ludicolo – Lv.50
Vileplume – Lv.50, Skarmory – Lv.50
On the first turn, DIG! Vileplume will charge up a Solarbeam and it’s faster than you, so dig, and then dig again until it dies! When the guy sends out Skarmory, switch, or let Quagsire die. Your dig won’t do anything against this one. When you’ve got Ludicolo out, Dive when it flies. Works wonders.
#4
Buy from the Battle CD corner, only 1000 Pokedollars!
Electric Companions, Beat the Opponents in unlimited turns!
Plusle – Lv.50, Minum – Lv.50
Miltank – Lv.50, Tropius – Lv.50
First turn you want to helping hand your Minum (could be Plusle) and Thunderbolt with the other on the Miltank to KO it, otherwise you’ll be Earthquaked to death. Second turn you’ll want to Thunder and Thunderbolt the Tropius before it can Earthquake you on the second turn (first turn it will Swords Dance). Any hits you take here will kill you no matter what.
#5
Kaminko’s house, beneath Chobin’s room (the bit where you use the hooks to get to places)
Defence Equals best attack, Single Battle, Beat the Opponent in Unlimited turns!
Blissey – Lv.50
Medicham – Lv.50
When that Medicham uses High Jump Kick, Protect, otherwise just wither it’s health down….
#6

Dreams come true, Single Battle, Beat the Opponent in unlimited turns!
Sneasel – Lv.50, Pikachu – Lv.50, Snorlax – Lv.50
Primeape – Lv.50
Sneasel’s Icy Wind to reduce speed. Pikachu’s Wish to restore any lost HP and Snorlax’s Curse will be sure to sort it out… (Obviously attack with the Snorlax)
#7
Phenac Front Gate Lady
Aspiring Machamp, Single Battle, Beat the Opponent in Unlimited turns!
Machamp – Lv.50

To kill a Defender, Single Battle, Beat the Opponent in Unlimited turns!
Zangoose – Lv.45
Cradily – Lv.50
Swords Dance, that’s the key. Swords dance thrice! Not twice! And certainly not a Fourth time. Then cross your fingers for one of those Critical hits with your Slash attack.

Colour Changer, Double Battle, Beat the Opponents in Unlimited turns!
Aerodactyl – Lv.25, Hitmonchan – Lv.25, Girafarig – Lv.25, Hariyama – Lv.25
Kecleon – Lv.50
This Kecleon will KO you in one hit, however, it is slow. Use Kecleon’s ability against it. Keep up an onslaught; it can only KO one of you every turn, which gives you 4 turns. Aero’s Dragonbreath is rubbish here so don’t bother using it.
#10

The Lunar combination, Double Battle, Beat the Opponents in Unlimited turns!
Clefairy – Lv.50, Clefable – Lv.50
