Ash meets Eusine.

Ash and co. are in the Ekruteak Pokémon centre, planning the best route to the next town. Misty worries that they'll get lost. With a grin, Ash assures her he and Brock have been studying the map. Then they hear a noise outside. Nurse Joy says it's coming from the Tin Tower. Gym leader, Morty runs up and says the sound of the bells can only mean one thing: the legendary Ho-oh will soon return. He hears a voice behind him and turns to see Eusine.

Misty and Eusine go into the tower. The whole toweris ringing. Eusing says on the ninth floor are the crystal bells, which only ring to announce Ho-oh. They arrive on the ninth floor to discover... they bells are gone. Morty guesses this is why the other bells were ringing. He calls Gengar and tells it to look for the bells.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket are admiring their latest haul... the crystal bells. They then recite a special version of the motto:

With Crystal bells in hand
We'll Ring Across the land.
When Ho-oh reappears
We will quickly switch gears.
Because together we will show
That we can beat old Ho-oh.
Jessie!
James!
Team Rocket ringing at the speed of light.
Our crystal bells pack a mighty fight fight fight!
Wobbuffet!

TR continue to discuss Ho-oh. They ring the bells but no sound is heard. Jessie eventually breaks one of them in frustration. Back at the tower, the other bells have stopped. Ash and co. arrive at the tower and see Eusine, Gengar and Morty. Morty greets them and says Ash's presence is evidence that Ho-oh is coming. He turns to Eusine and explains on the day Ash began his Pokémon journey he saw Ho-oh. Eusine is taken aback by this. Morty introduces him to Ash. Eusine is an expert in Pokémon legends.

They go to Morty's house and Morty tells te gang about the bells. 300 years ago a fire engulfed the tower and destroyed everything except 32 metal bells and 4 crystal ones. The tower was rebuilt and the bells were put back. Since then, the bells have never rung again... until today. The ringing is a signal that Ho-oh is still watching. Ho-oh has sent three Pokémon to observe humans - Suicane, Entei and Raikou. Ash explains he also saw a Suicane (on his first day in Johto?). Morty congratulates him on being so lucky but Eusine is filled with anger.

Eusine accuses Ash of lying and challenges him to a one-on-one battle. Back with TR, they are surrounded by a host of bug Pokémon including Weedle, Spinarak, Parasect, Caterpie and Tangella. Meowth, acting as translator, says they are angry because TR broke the bells. Then all the Pokémon use String Shot and trio's cries ring out. Meanwhile, Ash is stumped and doesn't really want to battle (that unusual). Morty tells Eusine to take it easy but gets his head bitten off and is told to referee the match.

Eusine sends out Alakazam and Ash, Pikachu. Pikachu is about to use Thundershock when a young friend of Morty's runs in. He tells everyone that the bell tower has been taken over by Pokémon. Outside, the gang see the tower draped in String shot webbing. Ash and Eusine both agree that this is no time for a battle. A bunch of angry Tangella bar their way to the tower. Parasect arrive and unleash sleep powder. Everyone retreats to the gym.

Ash glances out of window and is shocked to see the whole town is covered in webbing. Morty says it's almost as though the Pokémon want them to stay out of their way. It must be the crystal bells that werw stolen. A very delicate balence of power has been broken. Ash says that they must put a stop to this. He bravely faces the group of Parasect outside. After Morty's Gengar manages to confuse them, the gang run past and down a flight of steps.

In a forest clearing TR are all wrapped in cocoons and are hanging upside down from a tree. Several bug Pokémon ate watching them. Meanwhile, Ash is using Cyndaquil to burn through the webs. They see TR and the 3 bells near the bottom of a tree. Three Ariados are guarding them. Misty notices a bell is missing and asks TR where it is. Meowth lets slip that Jessie 'demolished' and also says the angry Pokémon won't listen to reason.

One of the Ariados sends a string shot towards our heroes but Eusine sends out Alakazam to reflect it. A Tangella send Alakazam down with a vine whip. It's about to vine whip when a loud roaring sound is heard. Morty observes that there is force in the air. All the webbing surround the area disappears, meaning TR fall to the ground. It's Suicane! Jessie sends out Arbok and orders a Poison Sting attack. Suicane uses some kind of powerful ray. TR are blasted off again.

Ash runs up and see Suicane. They stare at one another for a moment. Suddenly, Eusine sends out Alakazam and tells it to use Disable and then Confusion. Somehow Alakazam is sent back into it's Pokéball. Then Suicane disappears. Morty says maybe Suicane only appeared to protect everyone. Then they spot a rainbow - a sign of Ho-oh. All the web then vanishes from Ekruteak City. Eusine leaves to search for Suicane and Morty bids our heroes farewell as they finally disembark for Mahogany Town.
