Enlighten Up!
Ash and his friends are still on their way to Blackthorn City. They come across a huge lake. Then Team Rocket comes from under the ground and wants to fight with the twerps. Wobbuffet comes out of its Pokéball and Jessie puts it back in. They snarl at each other Then a Slowpoke comes walking towards them. They watch as it goes right between them and sticks its tail in the water. Ash now looks at his Pokédex and it tells him about Slowpoke, the dopey Pokémon. Jessie tells Slowpoke to scram because it's sitting on the place where they were going to battle. Then a nun comes and tells them that they're at Slowpoke's favorite spot.

They ask why Slowpoke is there. She answers that Slowpoke is looking for who it is. They say that it's a Slowpoke. But she answer's that's what humans call it. They ask Team Rocket, Ash, Misty, and Brock what their essence would be. They answer her question, and Brock says that he's handsome and available. The nun says that her name is Madeline and that they can come up to the temple with her to have lunch. Team Rocket of course is enthusiastic about this.

They walk to a gorgeous Japanese temple with a huge, golden Slowpoke statue in the middle. They see a priest meditating. They now have a delicious lunch.

While they're eating, Madeline says that a boy came to do some training at the temple, he was very strong, and his name was Gary Oak. This makes Ash angry because, of course, Gary is his rival. Ash wants to do this training too.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is thinking about the gigantic golden Slowpoke statue. They're thinking about how much Giovanni would reward them for such a gorgeous statue.

Madeline asks them if they want to train here. Ash and friends agree. Team Rocket thinks of the statue and agrees too. Wobbuffet comes out of its Pokéball and Jessie has to recall it. Ash and his friends think the trio is up to something, but Madeline says that you can be good or bad to find enlightment.

They go into a room where there are people in complete meditation. A man is meditating. He has an itch. Another person slaps him with a board. Madeline says that they can't move, not even if they have an itch. Ash, his friends, and Team Rocket agree to do it.

Ash is meditating. He's supposed to clear his mind of everything, and he finds himself standing in a stadium and a loudspeaker says that he's the Johto League Champion! Then he gets slapped out of it and he's angry about that.

When Misty meditates she sees a legendary water Pokémon and it's swimming away very quickly. Then she gets slapped.

Brock, is of course, asking a girl not to leave him, when he gets slapped out of it. And Jessie and James are slapped out of their meditation. They're all very angry about this.

The next part of their training is to scrub the hallways of the temple. Misty and Brock are not at all enthusiastic about this, they think it will take forever, but Ash is ready to scrub, and he has a race with Team Rocket, who used to do this kind of thing part-time. The race is very close, but Ash ends up winning as Pikachu and Togepi cheer him on. But Madeline says that's not enough, that they need to scrub and wax the WHOLE floor, because there are still several spots that still need cleaning.

Who's that Pokémon?
It's Noctowl!

Now they're finished and Ash and his friends ask Team Rocket if they want to go fishing, but Team Rocket's feeling too tired. Meowth is the only Team Rocket member to go.

When the group walks down to the lake, Slowpoke catches a Goldeen on its tail, but it lets it go. Misty asks if she can keep the Pokémon she catches. Madeline says for her to try her best.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is thinking of a way to get the giant Slowpoke statue out of the temple. James says things like these are usually hollow. They can't lift, so they decide to use a bike.

Misty and the others are fishing, but they aren't catching anything and Slowpoke's getting a lot of Water Pokémon on its tail. A Seaking, a Lanturn, and even a Gyarados. At this, Misty gets angry, because Slowpoke even got her least favorite Water-type Pokémon, Gyarados. She tells Meowth to go down and talk to the Pokémon. Slowpoke gets a Shellder on his tail.

Then the statue comes tumbling down the hill. Ash and his friends jump out of the way, but Slowpoke and Madeline stay in place. Just as the statue is about to smash them into bits, Slowpoke evolves into Slowbro, and Madeline tells it to use its Confusion to stop the statue. Ash looks at his Pokédex. It tells him about Slowbro. Slowbro sends the statue back to the temple. Ash and his friends ask Madeline if they can be angry at Team Rocket. She says that it's OK. Now that they've been enlightened, they will be refreshed and feel good. They say goodbye to Madeline and Slowbro.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is meditating. Then Delibird comes and starts squawking for money. They can't concentrate with that noise then the man with the board slaps them.
