Gonna Rule the School
The gang finally reaches Kanazumi City from their long trek through Touka Forest. Brock, Haruka, and Masato look at the city from high a top of a lookout tower. Brock points out where the gym is and Masato is excited to go there. Ash soon appears saying to others "look." When the others do look, they see Ash with a fortune's worth of souvenirs from the gift shop. The others think it's really embarrassing to see him with all that stuff. The gang heads on their way out of the tower, Ash trying to tell the others he's sorry for doing that but it was some pretty good items.

On the way out Masato notices a Poliwag under a table. He goes up to the Pokémon wondering what's wrong. Maybe it got lost? The Poliwag looks scared so Masato tries to convince the Poliwag he's going to take care of it. The Poliwag pops out of its hiding place and Masato picks it up, but he notices a ribbon on the tail. Soon a voice calls out to the Poliwag and it hops up to the person who called it. The gym leader, Tsutsuji. A group of kids run up to her asking if they found the Poliwag and sure enough she shows them. The kids have their own Pokémon, each having that same ribbon as the Poliwag, and they're also students since they're calling Tsutsuji "teacher". A boy, Takuto, teases him (he looks like an Male Elite Trainer from Gold/Silver/Crystal verion) because the student who was missing a Pokémon, Kato, couldn't take care of it, but a girl, Asami, backs Kato up. Then the two quarrel for a while before Tsutsuji has to break them up.

Tsutsuji says they're going back to the Trainer's School and Ash asks her about the school. Tsutsuji explains that it's a school for future trainers and the children are her students. Ash goes off wondering about that before mentioning battling in the gym. Tsutsuji asks him about that and Ash says that both he and Haruka are going to the gym later on. Then she says she could give them a tour of the school if they like, because they could really use a few people who could to show them a few pointers on training. Masato is excited to go and see what it's like, but Ash is a little dissapointed since he "has" to go.

One of the school's staff shows them around explaining that there are many facilities here for each area of Pokémon training. Ash on the other hand groans about seeing the gym. The first class they see is the Pokémon doctors class. Brock is interested in this, but Ash groans about the gym and now Masato groans about seeing the Trainer's class. The next class they see is the Pokémon Contest class, which Haruka is excited about. One trainer releases his Sneasel and the Pokémon displays a few moves as it was released. Haruka gets even more excited... but on the side is Ash and Masato sulking. Then they head to the Battling Class where two trainers with a Typhlosion and a Feriligator are fighting. Ash is interested in this class, but Masato still wants to see the Trainer's Class, the staff says that'll be the last place they'll stop, which is also the next.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket are at the same tower overlooking the city. They start to dream of a way to make money and they could do it by taking over this tower and selling souvenirs.

Finally the gang reaches the Trainer's class, Tsutsuji teaches at this one. Masato can't wait to see what's going on. When their guide opens up the door, they are greeted by a very large screen of Professor Oak give a course. When the gang enters, the staff tells Tsutsuji they're here and Professor Oak notices them. Oak gets a chance to see Brock and Haruka once again and is introduced to Masato. Tsutsuji says that tomorrow the class will be battling and Oak was just showing them a few pointers. They catch up on what's been happening and Oak is about to leave before Masato comes up saying that Professor Oak is like a hero to him. Oak gives his thanks and soon leaves. Masato wants to attend this class tomorrow, and Tsutsuji says it's alright. Takuto tries to challeng Masato and see if Masato knows a lot about training. Except the questions he asks were easy to Masato and he tries to push them harder but Tsutsuji says that it's enough. Takuto just doesn't want Masato fighting tomorrow for class.

Later Tsutsuji shows them the room where there's shelf after shelf filled with PokéBalls. This is where they keep the school's Pokémon and tomorrow Masato can use one. On the outside wall, Team Rocket overhears them and come up with their next plot.

Later that night Ash trains Pikachu more to use Iron Tail. So far Pikachu got it even if all he cut was a smidge of rock, at least he's prepared to fight in the Gym.

The next day everyone is at the Trainer's Class... everyone that is except for Haruka who happens to be at the Contest Class. Masato is now officially a student of the Trainer's Class for today, and Tsutsuji lets Ash and Brock show off their Pokémon for a while. Brock with Hasuboh gets a laugh from the class. Tsutsuji says that Ash was in top place for the Silver Convention and Brock is a gym leader for Pewter city. Then Tsutsuji asks if Brock could show a move with his Hasuboh and Brock says to use Water Gun. Hasuboh doesn't do it and he looks down at Hasuboh trying to get his attention, but Hasuboh sprays him. Ash however notices Kato. He goes up to him, trying to convince him that he can battle and that everything'll be all right.

So how's Haruka's class fairing? Well apparently today's also a test day and since Haruka isn't prepared for that, she ditches class.

Back at the Trainer's class, Masato and Takuto prepare battle. The rules are for a standard sudden death match. They both pick up one PokéBall and head to their trainer boxes. Meanwhile Haruka catches up to the Ash and Brock just in time to see the match. The boy sends out the Pokémon, a Magby, while Masato sends out his Pokémon, a Poliwag. Ash knows that Masato has the advantage but Takuto isn't going to give up that easily. He has Magby use Flamethrower and Masato has Poliwag uses Bide. This happened for another two rounds before Poliwag started to give out. Masato simply explains that he just wants Magby to damage Poliwag long enough to knock it out in one hit.

Before Takuto could get another Flame Thrower, the alarm sounds out. The staff person from before runs out saying that all the school's Pokémon have been stolen! It's none other than Team Rocket who busts in with a large Kemusso robot. They open up a hatch where the horn is and alugh at them. Ash notices the stolen Pokémon are at the tail of the robot and decide to see if he can give the Rocket's a jolt. Pikachu tries a Thunderbolt, but the Rockets close the hatch and then open it again teasing Pikachu before he tries another Thunderbolt, but fails once more. Brock sends out Forretress but Jesse retaliates with Habuneeku and its Poison Tail. Haruka tries out her recently caught Kemusso with String Attack however James gets back with Sabonea and Pin Missile. Jesse then shows off her Kemusso to show that she has one but doesn't let it fight.

Masato tries to have Poliwag use Double Slap, but Kato stops him. He explains that he shouldn't use that move, but Water Gun would work instead. Masato nods and tells Poliwag to use Water Gun which sprays out Habuneeku. Takuto doesn't want to be left behind so he has Magby toast Sabonea with a Flame Thrower. Masato asks Takuto if he wants to fight with him, but Takuto is a bit too arrogant. Finally Kato explains a strategy to Masato and the other on a way to keep the Rockets occupied. Masato tells Poliwag to fire Water Gun at the Rockets and they close their hatch once more. But when they open it again, they notice it's a little hot. The whole robot's hot! It looks like Takuto sent his Magby to torch the Robot while Masato kept them busy. Asami with her Pidgey soon sends it out to cut down the bag and finally Tsutsuji decides to take some action. She sends out her Geodude which does a Rollout. The Geodude hits a weakspot and blows up the robot, sending the Rockets sky high. Tsutsuji congratulates the students for their hard work and it looks like Kato, Takuto, and Asami will get along now. Now all that is waiting is Ash's battle with Tsutsuji.
