Nintendo have released a press statement and some pictures about the Eon Ticket giveaway, "Pokémon Day", held in Gamestation stores around Britain last Saturday.

This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.

This is the press release:

KIDS GO CRAZY FOR UK EXCLUSIVE POKÉMON EON TICKET EVENT

Fans of Pokémon didn’t dare miss out on the exclusive EON ticket download events held on Saturday 21 February, at 30 Gamestation stores across the UK. The Pokémon phenomenon once again proved its popularity as fans jumped at the chance to get their hands on the EON ticket and with more than 110 million video games sold worldwide to date this continued fever comes as no surprise.

For one day only, Pokémon fans were given the opportunity to download EON tickets onto their Pokémon Ruby & Pokémon Sapphire games! This exclusive ticket allows them to now visit the Southern Island to encounter Latias (in Pokémon Ruby) and Latios (in Pokémon Sapphire).

All they had to do was take their Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire game plus their Game Boy Advance to their local participating Gamestation store where they were able to download the EON ticket onto their game with the use of a Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable supplied by Gamestation staff.

But this was definitely an event for expert Pokémon players as before receiving these exclusive EON tickets, players had to collect five badges in Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire by defeating five of the gym leaders and then activating the mystery event.

Now that they have their EON ticket, players must travel to Petalburg City to meet their father, the gym leader Norman, who will actually hand over the EON ticket. Once the Elite Four and the Pokémon League Champion has been defeated, players can then take the ferry (SS Tidal) from Lilycove City Harbour to the renowned Southern Island.

Once on Southern Island players will encounter Latias or Latios, who carry SOUL DEW which boosts gamers’ Special Attack and Special Defence, not found in any other places. Latias and Latios are know as mysterious* yet powerful Dragon-Psychic types of Pokémon.

Perfect for the playground, fans can even share this EON ticket with their friends, around 100 times, using a Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable to connect two Game Boy Advances together.

Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire launched on 25th July 2003 priced at around 45 Euros each.
