The brand new Nintendo DS just keeps on giving with a clever little expansion to Pokémon Dash- the Pokémon racing game that uses the touchpad to move Pokémon!

This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.

At the World Hobby Fair, that is presumably being held in Japan, owners of Pokémon Dash can wirelessly download a new Muchlax themed course to their game.

This is the second special course we know about- the other is unlocked when you have Pokémon Emerald in the GBA slot ("Port 2").

The interesting thing here, from a "wild speculation" point of view, is the question: is the course UNLOCKED or DOWNLOADED? That is to say, rather than wirelessly linking up with the machine at the hobby fair and it just saying to the game "let the player access this course", does it actually download the course? ie: it adds the course to the game, had it not previously have been there?

If the latter is true, then this is tremendously exciting- theoretically, when the |33t haX0r developers have figured out how to make a PC talk to a DS via wifi, maps made by amateurs could be added to Pokémon Dash. Maybe.

Of course, this is all wild speculation. We can always dream.

The Nintendo DS should be out in Europe in March next year. Pokémon Dash will be out in America and Europe probably when hell freezes over.
