Favourite Parts of Songs
« on: November 16, 2013, 15:08 »
Basically, are there any parts of any song that you absolutely love hearing? A lovely guitar solo? A nice bit of singing?

For me, there's several songs with some parts in that are just...brilliant.

Muse - Knights of Cydonia
When the solo kicks in...dubstep eat your heart out, it is just brilliant.

Metallica - All Nightmare Long
The entire solo plus the bits in between are amazing.

DragonForce - Last Journey Home
About 4:20 into the full version, it changes tone and it sounds amazing. Then at 5:08...just brilliant.

Play with Me- Extreme.

Nuno Bettencourt's solo is just full of neo-classical arpeggios and melodies. Brilliant.

Out of the Frying Pan and Into The Fire- Meat Loaf

The guitar tone in the song is just amazing.

You've Got A Friend- James Taylor

The verses are in a minor key, the verses in a major key. Who'd have thought it?

The piano parts to Total Eclipse of the Heart, Making Love Out of Nothing At All, and Holding Out for a Hero (which all three had the music written by the same man. I think they all had different lyricists though.)

Drum solo intro to Blondie's Rapture.

Guitar solo in Blondie's One Way or Another and Call Me, Physical by Olivia Newton-John, and Beat It by Michael Jackson

Guitar parts for 4 Non Blondes' What's Up, Extreme's More Than Words, and Green Day's Time of Your Life

Synthesizer parts in Rufus/Chaka Khan's Ain't Nobody, Yaz(oo)'s Situation, Funkytown by Lipps Inc., Flashdance...What a Feeling, Hall and Oates Maneater, The Jets' Crush on You and Rocket 2 U, Miss Me Blind by Culture Club, Chaka Khan's I Feel for You, Pointer Sisters Neutron Dance, and Jane Child's Don't Want to Fall In Love

Strings in Chaka Khan's I'm Every Woman and Vicki Sue Robinson's Turn the Beat Around

freak - smashing pumpkins
the chorus is perfect in many ways
although anything by billy corgan is perfect so

drop that child - droptek/tut tut child
the drop. is just. oh my goodness.

21st century schizoid man - king crimson
the parts with the vocals and eerie guitar chords is super cool

stay together for the kids - blink 182
the burst when the chorus comes in is pretty unbelievable

art school girl - stone temple pilots
"I TOLD YOU FIVE OR FOUR TIMES, I TOLD YOU FIVE OR FOUR TIMES, I TOLD YOU FIVE OR FOUR TIMES, I TOLD YOU FIVE OR FOUR TIMES"

outside the box - obsidia
the intro was so odd it was cool, drop wasnt great (was still ok tho)

the fox - ylvis
when he says toot hehehehehehe

Burial - Shell Of Light

The beat switch followed by the sample... God can you whisper in her ear? I wasn't sure we could be friends

Love it so much I'm gonna listen now, it's one of the most beautiful moments in music

The end section of Justin Bieber's Heartbreaker is pretty great too, shame T-Minus doesn't produce any more

The second and third parts (... Because He Broke The Rules and Voodoo Man) of Act 1 by Jay Electronica is incredible too, the lyricism and samples are so great. The former samples Willy Wonka and the start

Quote
The handling of a heart's
A very delicate art
Cause it's paper thin
One irrelevant thought
That started out as a spark
Could be a poisonous dart
That leaves a permanent mark
That's ice cold in the day and burns in the dark
And makes you never wanna see her face again

is so beautiful; Voodoo Man samples a Kurdish film called Turtles Can Fly (powerful film, so moving and well done) and from a rap technical view point is so lyrical. Jay Electronica in general is incredible though so yeah. The Islamic part of Exhibit C >>>>>>>>>

The guitar solo in Kanye's Devil In A New Dress is incredible too, Mike Dean absolutely killed it; the vocoder in Runaway is beautiful

The chorus of Creature Fear by Bon Iver really adds so much life to the song whilst retaining the theme of it

The almost commercial dubstep style drop in High For This by The Weeknd is just brilliant production; same for the use of sample in Wanderlust.

Think that'll do for now heh

EDIT: forgot La Ritournelle by Sebastien Tellier! The strings that kick in for the production are great, especially the development of them before the singing. Absolutely legendary track
