Monochrome Pokemon: More rare than shinies?
« on: October 28, 2013, 14:00 »
Apparently in X and Y there is a new feature called monochrome Pokemon. Rumor has it that the chances of finding a shiny Pokemon or a Pokemon with Pokerus have been increased, and now the addition of monochrome Pokemon have been discovered by a few lucky players.

The Pokemon are ALWAYS a white/silver kind of color, instead of just getting a sometimes drastic color change like shinies.

These Pokemon are extremely rare and it is currently unknown whether they are an intended added feature to the game, or they are glitches. Whatever they are, they are pretty swell.

EDIT - Wow guys, I don't really understand how this got 2,000 views to become my most popular topic, but DAMN. Thank you all.

i heard this was more of a graphics glitch than an actual feature? guess it'll be a cool collectible either way

Yeah, I am sure it was confirmed as a texture glitch.

I've just been googling it, and apparently it goes if you restart the game  :(

It's a shame; I'd have loved another thing like Shinies...

I remember that game! I used to play on it loads xD

But yeah, it'd be cool if they added this properly... I mean, they obviously have the capability, otherwise it wouldn't happen by glitches!

They need something other than Shinies. But Monochrome isn't the way they should go I think. They need to make Shinies more personal to the trainer I think. But I really don't know how.

I too think it's a glitch. Ditto seems to look white in the Pokemon Summary page and its icon in the Box.

It's most likely a glitch because Monochrome Pokemon, unlike Shinies, don't have a mark that deems them rare or special. Without a mark, like the small red star in the corner of a Shiny Pokemon's profile, to deem it official, it's probably a glitch. But the fans can take it as they will. It doesn't really matter if it's intentional or not. They're still Pokemon, and they don't look as bad as a Pokemon with pieces of its sprite changing from visible to invisible as it moves, which is what I would've expected. At least now there's still something extremely rare that we can look forward to, now that Shinies are so much more common.
