Title: I'm glad that Pokemon are only able to hold one item at a time
Post by: Petzbreeder on December 20, 2014, 14:29
I realised something absolutely crazy!

Imagine Arceus being able to hold two plates at the same time, which would cause it to become both types due to Multitype.
If Arceus could hold a Meadow Plate and a Splash Plate at the same time, it would wreak absolute havok on a Pokemon such as Rhyperior, which has a 4x weakness against a move which is either Grass or Water type.

But to potentially have a move (Judgement) which is both Grass and Water type, it would be able to inflict 8x damage to a Rhyperior!

I hope that Nintendo doesn't allow Pokemon to hold two items in later generations, Arceus would be way overpowered!

I'm kinda glad too, but not for that reason. Imagine if something held a choice scarf or band at the same time? That would also make moves like switcharoo and trick more complex.

Also, imagine Mega Rayquaza with a life orb. *Shivers at the thought*

But, Mega Rayquaza can hold a life orb... It doesn't have a mega stone, so it's item slot is open...

*Realizes that that true, flips a table*

Then try a mega mence or mega ken with life orb. Or worse, mega Mewtwo with an LO

mega Mewtwo

What about Mewtwo or Charizard holding both their mega stones?
I wonder how that would work.

Either they can use either one to evolve or that wouldn't be allowed.

I'm kind of curious on how Pokemon like Arceus would hold onto the Plates though. Does it get wedged in its side things or does it carry it in its mouth or..?

These questions are not supposed to be asked about Pokemon

I think it's something like this:

Oh! That's my question answered then.

You would not want to screw with a Mega Gengar with a Life Orb. That's all I can say.

Many people say that a Pikachu with a light ball is better than a Raichu.
What about a Pikachu with a light ball and an eviolite? That would certainly be interesting!

Yeah, we wouldn't want Arceus to be overpowered!

In all seriousness, I doubt they'll ever allow 2 items. Doubling Choice items would be standard fare and it would really make defensive Pokemon cease to exist in competitive, and Megas with choice items or Life Orb would all be really insanely overpowered, more than they already are.

And imagine if you could have Mega Rayquaza with a Life Orb AND a Metronome (because Rayquaza doesn't need a Rayquazanite, instead needing some sort of complex explanation involving a mikado organ, some Meteorites to eat, and Dragon Ascent)!? ALL HELL WOULD BREAK LOOSE AND COMPETITIVE PLAY WOULD BE FOREVER LOST.

The only Pokemon I know that can have an 8x weakness are Dry Skin Paras and Parasect if Sunny Day is in play or it is Sunny on the battlefield.

Would actually be 16x, because it'd sorta be "Super, Super, Super, super effective", or 2x 2x 2x 2x effective, simplified to 16x effective. (Or more plainly put, you multiply combined weaknesses not add, so 4x weak to water and 4x weak to grass is 4x4, not 4+4)

lol actually then it wouldn't be much different cause Dragon Ascent Rayquaza is banned from Ubers.

The move Dragon Ascent isn't banned, just the mega evolution.

I still don't know why Dragon Ascent is called "the strongest Flying type move." Sky Attack has a high Base stat and when you look at Dragon Ascent stat, it's basically Brave Bird (which has the same Base Power) without the recoil damage.

^Oi, we settled that one already.

Well, don't look at me. IMO, it's the best of the three because I don't want recoil damage or having to wait a turn before attacking. Although the defensive drops can be brutal if something with priority decides to go a round, and you don't have/use extremespeed

Literally a One-hit KO then.
Actually, more like a One-hit murder. That would most likely be the only way to actually KILL a Pokemon!
I'm glad that Pokemon don't die in the games except in Nuzlockes.

And on ConSpec values, you know how Lisia cheats by having her Altaria have Altarianite AND whatever color scarf is best fitting for the contest? What if we could do the same? Having a Mega Gardevoir who's mostly in the Cuteness stat with a Pink Scarf, or a Clever-centric Mega Audino with a Green Scarf? Lisia would be WAY easier!
