Note
This series is based off of the "Pokemon Adventures" Manga series, and not anything from the TV show or the Videogames
The Story:
Shortly after the Masked Man's defeat, a new trainer, Steel sets out on his journey through the Johto region with Kapp (Psyduck) and Spyke (Togepi). The region as a whole has been just started settling down from the first revival of Team Rocket. People are distressed by the events in the Hoenn region that're causing the sea levels to rise quickly, and earthquakes to shake the southwestern border of Johto. Steel's goal is to take on all of the Johto gyms and defeat the Pokemon League before the year's end.
Setting:
The story takes place in the Johto Region, starting in Goldenrod City. It takes place during the Ruby and Sapphire chapter of Pokemon Adventures, after the events of the Crystal Chapter. Your characters will follow Steel, a lanky 13 year old just starting his journey through the world of Pokemon. They will encounter old members of Team Rocket that refuse to give up on their antiquated goals, and they may encounter other dangers in their travels.
( If this goes well, there's a possibility that they'll travel to the Kanto region during the Fire Red/Leaf Green chapter, and Hoenn during the Emerald Chapter )

Rules:
Your characters may not be too powerful, and their teams should start with a maximum of three pokemon below level 20. I (GM) will decide upon events such as evolution, success in battle, capturing, and other things. Posts should be limited to your responses and your actions, not how others will react to your actions. Newly caught pokemon should have limitations, and pokemon that are high in level will not obey commands. Your character's actions and the actions of your pokemon are seperate, and the actions of pokemon should be decided by the GM, their nature, and maybe the convenient roll of a D20.
Notes:
All characters can have a Pokegear, but Pokedexes have to be earned through Roleplaying as they are rare and only given out by Pokemon Professors. Comic Relief may be involved. If you have read Pokemon Adventures, you would know that characters can have special abilities. Psychic Pokemon trainers could have some limited telekinesis and telepathy. Some could have Healing abilities like Yellow from the Pokemon Adventures series. Please do not go overboard with the powers, as it is not the main theme of this thread. Your Pokemon team should not be overpowered and it definately should not include any legendary Pokemon.

Name: Victoria "Vercha" Scrivenor
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Personality:
Appearance: When she's not in costume, Vercha looks rather ordinary. She stands at a rather unimpressive 5'1" in height, with a natural hair color of a mousy brown. Her skin is quite pale and is decorated with freckles over a good deal of her body. Vercha often wears darker clothing, although she favors practical clothing outside of contests.
Other: Her original 'starter' pokemon, Quilava, wasn't actually her pokemon. It was loaned to her by her brother so she could obtain her own Pokemon in the Violet tower. Her nickname "Vercha" came from someone who kept mispronouncing her name. No, she doesn't know why either. She is primarily a travelling trainer who challenges gyms, although she hopes to begin contests with her pokemon once she's gone far enough. She has the unique ability to copy the traits of her own pokemon, but only very briefly - such as being able to phase through walls as her Ghastly can, teleport such as her abra, and, er... well, she hasn't really found out what she gets from Eevee. All the same, the abilities are used only very briefly as they are quite draining, and she's found that she can only do it with her own pokemon.

- Grim - Gastly - Male - Impish - Vercha's oldest pokemon. Never really in his pokeball, so he's usually floating by Vercha's head. Obtained at the Violet Tower. Known moves - Hypnosis, Lick, Mean Look, Haze. Vercha pretty much knows Gastly inside out, with the exception of 'Haze'.
- Aki - Abra - Male - Timid - Knows Ice Punch thanks to breeding. Given as an egg for her birthday. Rather timid around strangers outside of battle, although pretty calm inside of battle. Known moves - Ice Punch, Teleport. Almost ready to evolve.
- Honey - Eevee - Female - Modest - Vercha is hoping she'll evolve into an Espeon or Vaporeon for contests. Possibly knows iron tail by a TM, though still needs practice to properly use it. Known moves - Tackle, Iron Tail. Vercha's most recently obtained pokemon, although this pokemon wasn't caught, either. Vercha had found Honey abandoned with her pokeball at a pokemon center, and had 'adopted' her henceforth.

Steel, a lanky, dark-haired boy in a red jacket runs out of the front door of a small Goldenrod City apartment building, a wide grin on his face. He passes by several shops and such before stopping by the front of the Goldenrod Gym, which is, according to the man out front, closed with Whitney training out on Route 35. Steel sighs in disdain and looks around at the crowd of disappointed faces around him.

Name: Skyler Rilke
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Personality: Skyler is a rather odd character. He is fond of eating, especially spicy foods, yet maintains his slim physique due to an overactive metabolism and his constant, sometimes annoying level of thinking. He likes to think a lot and read a lot, but his behavior wouldn't necessarily show this. He is hyperactive and forgets to think about how his actions will effect others around him. But he is a kindhearted boy, only becoming mean when he feels the need to defend himself, on a personal level, or to protect his friends. He cares very deeply for his Pokemon, especially his first, a Quilava named Blazer. He got Blazer as a Cyndaquil from his mom as a birthday gift so he could begin his journey. Due to his fondness of his Pokemon and his ease at communicating with them - a skill that he can't apply to relationships with people for some reason - he is an incredibly adept battler, having gotten his badges from Falkner and Bugsy in very short periods of time. While he likes to collect pokemon, and shows them all affection deserving of pets, he is somewhat choosy as to the pokemon he will let on his battling team. He seems to know which pokemon have the characteristics (such as nature, movesets, and IVs) that he needs based off of meeting them. And thus, when he does talk about pokemon, he can list wide ranges of information about them just from an inspection of their behavior.
Appearance: Skyler is a very tall 14 year old, being around 5'8". He has rough, spiky black hair, and a slight tan due to his constant working outside. He is very lanky, although he prefers the term slender, as he is a healthy sort of lean. He wears a black jacket with a red shirt underneath, and white running shoes. He has a pokeball around his neck. Many suspect there is a pokemon inside of it, as he gets very scared when he loses it. He says that if it were to fall into the wrong hands, the unspeakable would occur. As such, he doesn't want anyone to touch it.He has learned a great deal about pokeballs so he could lock it, and only he can unlock it. He also has a long scar along his chest, as well as a smaller one on his left cheek. He hints that the pokeball that he keeps locked all the time might be related to it. He also has a greyish-blue backpack which he carries round various items such as potions, food, toys, and supplies for catching pokemon.
Other: His special ability could thus be classified as something akin to N's, although he has yet meet N. A big difference in the two, however, this that Skyler can synch minds with his pokemon in battle, giving them commands very fluidly. Skyler is also vastly interested in using astronomy as a means of navigation as well as time telling. Skyler also is somewhat technologically savvy, as he knows the inner workings of a pokeball enough to have locked one. He seems to be able to learn vast, and has a very large store of knowledge, but he lacks in his ability to communicate with people properly.

- "Blazer" Quilava - Male - Rash - Blazer was Skyler's first Pokemon he befriended. Blazer and Skyler and Inseparable. They are the best of friends, having been through thick and thin making al the way from their little residence on the outskirts of New Bark Town, all the way to Goldenrod City. Blazer is one of Skyler's strongest pokemon - although the pool isn't too big considering he only has three pokemon upon reaching Goldenbark), know very powerful moves capable of felling some of the strongest opponents. He is level 20 upon reaching Goldenbark.
- "Brainiac" Slowpoke - Female - Calm - Brainiac was Skyler's second caught Pokemon, and his third overall. Skyler called her Brainiac because when Team Rocket took over Slowpoke Well, she was very crafty in helping him rid the well of their presence. She hid in a crevice, combining Yawn with the echoing nature of the well to cause most of the the poeple (and pokemon) to fall asleep. He caught her, and used her in his battles to get rid of anyone who hadn't fallen asleep. She his very sweet, showing great affection to Skyler, although she can be rather slow to react to some of his commands in battle. She is level 18 upon reaching Goldenrod.
- "PKThunder", often shortened to PK, Pikachu - Male - Hasty - PKThunder was Skyler's second pokemon. However, he hatched from an egg as a Pichu. Skyler and Blazer were marching along their path when Skyler got a call from his mother. He said that Professor Elm, who had taught Skyler about Pokemon when Skyler was younger, decided to send a Aide of his to Cherrygrove with a Pokemon egg. This egg was an odd, orangish color but had the markings of a Pichu. When it hatched, shortly before arrival in Violet City, it turned out to be a shiny Pichu. PK is also very powerful, knowing Thunder Bolt, Nasty Plot, and Thunder Wave. However, PK appears not to think about every action he makes, and sometimes gets himself into jams that Skyler must save himself. Skyler attributes this to PK being a baby, being only 11 days old upon reaching Goldenrod. He is also level 19.

Name: Sidney Watson
Age: 8
Gender: Male
Personality: Sidney is easygoing and naive. He hates Pokemon battles and only captures Pokemon if they are going to suffer in the wild places where they live. Something that really annoys him is being confused for a girl due to his appearance and the fact that he has a twin sister also called Sidney. Other than that Sidney is always cheerful ... And, hungry. Preferring to keep her Pokemon out of their Pokeballs so that they can always wander around him. His hobbies include weaving and cooking.
Appearance: Sidney is very short with short ruffled black hair. His dark green eyes are always looking around unable to concentrate in almost any situation. He usually wears a thin t-shirt and jeans. He looks identical to his sister. To try to make himself more manly he wears big boots.
Other: Would still be at home if it wasn't for his ability to sense a Pokemon's injury whatever and wherever it was and getting frustrated that he couldn't do anything about it.

- "Dart" - Dratini - Male - Gentle - His first Pokemon, a gift from his older brother has always been close to Sidney, usually attach to his body somewhere. Will always be asleep unless there is food nearby or Sidney is in danger. Lv - 8
- "Pie" - Caterpie - Male - Hasty - Named due to the food that Sidney was eating at the time. Has since gotten better and stayed a loyal friend to Sidney, helping him practice his weaving. Lv - 5
- "Silver" - Furret - Female - Bold - A light furred Furret came to Sidney with a broken paw. The paw is healing but she still limps so unlike Sidney's other Pokemon she stays in her Pokeball, but when she is let out she runs ahead of Sidney, but stays in sight.

This question was already subtley addressed within the first application, but no, you do not have to read the Pokemon Adventures Manga. It's really long and I don't expect everyone to have read it.

(I've read Pokemon Adventures, and I absolutely love it. I actually based to conception of Skyler on it a few years back.)
Skyler sauntered off of Route 34 with Blazer and PK running along side him.
"This is where the 3rd Gym is, boys! I think it's time for us to get another badge."
Blazer pointed his nose up at Skyler and made an odd growling noise. Skyler picked him up and asked what the problem was.
"Oh, I see. You think we need to train a bit more? Alright then. But first, let's head over to the Pokemon Center!" Skyler put Blazer back on the ground and began to run through the city. This place is HUGE! Skyler thought. Upon reaching the Pokemon Center, he, Blazer, and PK were winded. They rest up for a moment, and then make their way over to the Pokemon Center.
Skyler notices someone standing outside and begins to approach him. But instead of getting his attention, Skyler just stands over this person, who is much shorter than he is.

Turns around quickly, and, upon seeing Skyler, leaps backwards a few feet.
"Hup!-- Ah, um!... Hello!"
throws his hands about in strange and odd gestures.
"Uh, right! Why're you standing?... Here?... I uh," Clears his throat, "The Gym's closed... I guess"
brings his hand up to his forehead in a gesture that is called a 'Face-Palm'.

Name: Jade Mason
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Personality: Jade is probably best defined by her stubbornness; she refuses to back down from a challenge, even when the odds are stacked against her and the challenge is undesirable. She tries to present herself with an air of pride and confidence, though it could be easily mistaken for an arrogant manner. Jade is always willing to try new things and longs for adventure, which is the very reason why she disliked her convenient lifestyle. She is very passionate and caring towards Pokémon, almost to a fierce degree. She hates staying in one place for too long and gets bored of things quickly. Jade is well spoken and polite, and she makes noticeable effort to remain so even when her temper begins to flare. She can be blunt with other people as well as inconsiderate, which in turn makes her look selfish.
Appearance: Jade is of average height at around 5"1 and is fair-skinned, and her eyes are amber. She has very light blond hair that reaches her waist when worn loose, though she prefers tying it into 3-sectioned pigtails. Jade has a side sweeping fringe that often falls over her left eye, so she keeps it back with a blossom-shaped hairclip. She wears a black turtleneck tank top, a navy and baby blue vest jacket (with a Poke-Ball image as part of the design), fallow-coloured shorts and hiking boots. She wears a belt that has some pouches attached to it and lugs around a large khaki backpack.
Other: Jade has an odd affinity for the paranormal, especially with ghost Pokémon. She is much more sensitive to the presence of wandering spirits and can see/sense them much sooner than the average person, though this special ability does nothing to aid her in befriending ghost-types; if anything it makes her an easier target for mischief. ((I recycled another character's ability, sorry XD))

- Meowth (Mimi) - Female - Lax - Level 18, Mimi is Jade's longest kept Pokémon, but she is not Jay's starter. Mimi was kept as a pet during Jade's childhood, and is therefore domestic. Mimi prefers the comfort of the indoors and to be solitary, and is very finicky about food. She seems repelled by the idea of battling out of pure laziness, choosing to nap instead. Mimi does not seem fond of remaining in her Poke'Ball due to her upbringing as a pet, but will not resist when outside conditions are not to her standards. She is very insistent on either being carried or riding on Jade's shoulder, though will simply walk with enough persuasion. She despises water. She wears a white ribbon around her neck, tied into a bow at the back.
- Misdreavus (Faye) - Female - Impish - Level 12, Faye was caught in the act of mischief by Jade shortly before the girl left home. Faye loves to prank the living, particularly those less aware to her presence; however, it is Jade's stronger perception that piqued the ghost's interest. Though she plays more pranks on her trainer (especially when unaware company is present), Faye intends no harm, and actually followed Jay for some time before she finally attempted a capture. Faye seems to dislike being confined in her Poke'Ball, and often pops out of her own accord to the confusion of Jade. She often resists being called back so she can keep 'playing' with Jade. Outside of her Poke'Ball she tends to wander off to look for 'victims', but remains close enough to Jade.
- Snivy (Sol) - Male - Timid - Level 8, Jade's 'official' starter Pokémon, obtained from the travelling trainer. Sol is very cautious of strangers and shies away from battle, but does so with encouragement. He stays close to Jade, seeing her as the only familiar face in this strange new land, and is rather frightened of Faye's tendency to sneak up on him. He has no preference to being in his Poke'Ball or out of it. Outside, he will either walk along with Jade or ride her shoulder.

Sklyer imitates the 'face palm' in a reluctant manner, making sure Steel can meet eyes with him. He looks away immediately and says "That's good, I guess. Now I have an excuse to go train more. Maybe catch a new Pokemon on this here Route 35."
He turns around and begins to walk towards the street. Suddenly, it dawns on him: this trainer wants to battle Whitney as well.
"Hey you - what's your name? - I want to battle you! And the winner will decide who it is that battles Whitney first!" Skyler shouted. He began to run towards Steel in a somewhat awkward manner, and then took one of his Pokeballs from his waist. This one was giving off some intense heat, Skyler noted.

As soon as the word 'battle' was mentioned he shed his usual rambling persona and grinned widely once more.
"Sounds good to me, let's get this going! Single battle, if either of our Pokemon are incapable of battling any further that would be a loss. League rules. Let's go! Kapp!"
Spins a Lure Ball on the tip of his index finger, releasing it onto the floor to reveal a very excited Psyduck. Steel stretched out his arms, tucking the Lure Ball back into his jacket pocket.
"Kapp's my very first pokemon, y'know. He may not look like much, but he's pretty tough."
He kneeled down, placed a hand on Psyduck's head and looked up to Skyler.
"The name's Steel, by the way."

"Steel! That's a cool name, especially for the name of the next person I beat! My name's Skyler Rilke. And here is my friend Blazer!" Skyler says. He throws a Pokeball high in the air, and catches its white underside as Blazer comes out of his Blazer. He lets out a battle cry and turns around. He looks at Kapp and Steel and lets off a huge blaze from his back.
"Looks like he's ready to rock! Let's go Blazer! Start this off with a Smokescreen!" Skyler closes his eyes and puts his fingers on his temples. He opens his eyes, and they begin to glow a slight reddish color as Blazer inhales, jumps, and lets a huge blast of smoke right in Kapp's face.

Steel coughs once before coming to his senses, "Kapp, focus!" Steel does not say any more, it's almost as if his Pokemon already knows what to do. The Psyduck releases a powerful jet of water from it's mouth, and it proceeds to form a wide ring, flying into the smoke with the sound of rushing water. Steel laughed as the ring of water rushed through the screen of smoke.

Jade once thought of early mornings as unbearable, and remembers too well the nighttime feeling of dread for the wake-up call at something-o'clock sharp. Now she regrets oversleeping. She runs through the twists and turns of Goldenrod City, feeling overwhelmed by how huge the area is. It doesn't help that she has to double-task navigation with brushing her hair. Several times she stops to give a quick check on her PokeGear.
After what seems like hours of running and guessing turns, Jade arrives at the Goldenrod Gym. She has managed to at least neaten her hair and begins tying it as she walks closer. The Gym Leader, Whitney, is not currently there, at least according to the disappointed murmurs of the crowd of trainers. Jade pouts and marches up to the man standing at the doors, but he simply confirms it.
"Pity," she mumbles. She spins on her heel and walks away. She taps her chin thoughtfully, briefly considering finding another way into the gym to at least be the first of this queue to battle.
"Start this off with a smokescreen!"
"Kapp, focus!"
Jade breaks out of her plotting and, curious, wanders into a small group that has gathered. Two trainers stand across from each other and Jade immediately sees that there is a battle. She quickly walks in and out of the other trainers until she is in the front, watching with interest. It is better than waiting, at least, she thinks to herself.

"Blazer, take the hit!" Skyler shouts. Blazer gets hit with a stream of water, and gets enraged. Skyler closes his eyes, inhales and exhales, and shouts again: "Blazer, roll up with a Quick Attack". And upon hitting the ground, Blazer ricochettes and flies at Kapp with full force.

Kapp is hit with the quick attack directly in the belly, knocking it back a few steps.
"Don't give up, lil' guy!" The Psyduck launched itself into the air, now able to perfectly see the Quilava; Kapp released a powerful jet of water from it's mouth, the water gun attack hurtling straight towards the Quilava at high speeds. "Keep it up!" The water continued to gush from the Psyduck's bill at amazing speeds, the Psyduck would not stop with the attack until it landed a hit.

Sidney walked around Goldenrod city holding Dart in his arms. He was wandering around because the layout of the city had confused him and he was rather lost. "Where should we go Dart?" he asked the little Pokemon in his arms. Dart just raised his head and look lazily at the gathering people in front of a building Sidney assumed was a gym and noticed the Pokemon battle. Sidney watched the battle not from any interest in the battle, but with concern for the Pokemon involved.

The red glow of Skyler's eyes intensified. "Blazer, to the side!" Blazer dodged and dodged and dodged as Kapp spun around shooting water guns at him. When he was standing in front of Steel, he jumped in the air, wondering what Kapp would do. He came down hard with another quick attack, right into Kapp's forehead.

The Psyduck appeared to be on it's last legs and Steel obviously noticed this, Steel then gave up the Type advantage and decided to let the Psyduck return to his side to help itself to the Oran Berries in his bag. "Okay then, can't beat you with the type advantage... But I do have my own little underdog as well. Let's go, Spyke!" with much bravado he grabbed the second Pokeball from his belt and tossed it into the air, whacking it like a volleyball at the feet of the Quilava. Steel grinned as the Togepi popped out of the ball. "Don't be fooled, Spyke's the strongest Pokemon I've ever seen." With that the Togepi set down the Metronome (item) it was holding and started it, its stubby arm waving in synchronization with the ticking of the Metronome. "And now, without further ado..." The ground began to shake violently, cracks forming around the Togepi's feet. The attack chosen by Metronome is... "Earthquake! Yes! No dodging this one!" The ground shook, the earth smacked the Quilava side to side and all over, the audience was untouched due to the focus of the Pokemon's attack. "I think this settles the battle..." Steel grinned.

Jade gasped as the Togepi's trainer announced the attack and dropped to the ground, covering her head. However, when the rumble began, she felt nothing. She dared to take a peak and saw that only the Togepi and the Quilava were shaking. Jade quickly regained composure as she stood back up straight, dusting herself off carefully as she continued to watch.
"I've never seen an Earthquake so accurate," she said to no-one in particular, amazed along with a few of the other spectators. You've never seen an Earthquake full stop, she reminded herself, but it was no matter.

Skyler ran over to Blazer as the ground he and Spyke heaved, throwing everything around. He threw himself over Blazer to protect him from falling debris, such as potted plants and a radio from someone's window. A red glow erupted from under Skyler as Blazer was recalled to his ball. When the shaking stopped, he looked at Spyke with anger in his eyes. "This is the first time Blazer had to be called out of a battle before. He reached to his side and tossed out a Pokeball. "This is my darling Brainiac!" He said. Brainiac looked around with a dumbfounded look on her face, but Skyler could tell she was ready to battle. "Brainiac! Disable Togepi's metronome, and follow with and then Yawn!" Skyler shouted as he put on earplugs.

"Spyke, use-" Steel yawned, "- Encore..." The Togepi began to clap drowzily for the Slowpoke. "And now you can't use anything else... Which means..." Calls back his Togepi once more and sends out his now fully recovered Psyduck... "Kaptain, use Disable!" The Psyduck's eyes flashed blue as the move Disable took effect, this combo would force the Slowpoke to struggle as it cannot use the move that it is forced to use.
"Well, it's just going to hurt itself now... Ready to call this off? Because I'm ready to finish this."

(The physics of Earthquakes is quite complex and remember, Goldenrod is a rather busy city. I just wanted to add a little something-something to the action)
Sklyer recalled Brainiac. He took out a Pokeball and tossed it up, as a shocked and battered Blazer came out of the Ball.
"Blazer, get this - use Ember!" And Blazer flipped the charcoal in his mouth as his back fires burned intensely. His eyes and Skyler's eyes glow an intense red as his Blaze activates, allowing him to create an intense fire that engulfs Kapp, and even melts some of the asphalt. Blazer's fire goes out after about 10 seconds, with him panting on the ground again.

Steam flowed off of Kapp's shoulders slowly, the attack did not do much effect against the Psyduck.
"Alright, you're not one to give up quickly..." Just then his Psyduck fell asleep. "Well, I'd like to say this is a draw; this has been going on for about an hour... And I'm kinda hungry. How about I buy lunch?.." He looked around, "Only two people are still in the audience... So, nobody left to impress; really.... That's all, folks!" He tosses his pokeball at the Psyduck. "Let's go, I know this great place I've been dying to visit before we left..."

"An hour, huh? Well no wonder we're so tired." The light in Skyler's eyes went away as he recalled Blazer to his Pokeball. "We could go get something to eat, I guess. But first, we need to hit up a Pokemon Center, especially for Blazer. He's had a rough day. You're probably one of the strongest trainers I've fought so far. You make Falkner look like a punk, anyways." Skyler walked over to Steel and stood next to him for a moment, and then began to walk towards the Pokemon Center, signaling Steel to follow.

"Hah, right!"
Looks to the last two people in the audience for a moment before running into the Pokemon Center. The red-headed nurse behind the counter smiled and took the 5 Pokemon from the trainers.
"I'll just heal them right up, it'll only take a bit, have some water whilst you're waiting." she handed two glasses of water to Skyler.
((I apologize if my posting is slow for the next few days, I'm at Comic-Con and using my phone along with the dreaded hotel internet connection I've been given... Also, I saw somebody cosplaying as Yellow, I am happy.))

"Alright. Thank you, Miss." Skyler said as he grabbed the water. He drank down the entire cup, parched from his Journey from Azalea Town to Goldenrod.
"After my three team members are done healing, I intend on adding the fourth member of my team to the roster. I heard I can get it right here in Goldenrod. I wonder if the Game Corner is still around..." Skyler said, looking directly at Steel. He then looked away, towards the back of the counter, waiting for the Nurse to return with his Pokemon.
"Which Pokemon do you intend on adding to your team, Steel?" Skyler said as he looked toward the back of the counter.

"Oh, well... I'm not sure... I never thought that far ahead..." He looked down for a moment. "Whatever comes my way, I guess." //JINGELING// "That'd be our Pokemon." Steel took his two Pokeballs, on closer inspection, They are two of Kurt's balls, one Bait ball and a Friend Ball.

"Oh. That's fine. I know this one pokemon I can get here in Goldenrod, has been a dream Pokemon for me ever since I was a child." Skyler took Blazer's ball, a normal Pokeball, PK's ball, also a Normal Pokeball, and Brainiac's Ball, a Level Ball.
"I see you've met Kurt, too. He thanked me for getting the last of Team Rocket out of his town. I heard a whle back some kid from New Bark took out a huge section of Team Rocket. And even before that, the illustrious Red defeated Team ROcket in Kanto. I want to battle Red, to see who is the better trainer. I think in a years time I will go on a search for Red and battle him."
Skyler put the balls around his waist, and reached in his backpack for an item. Out rolled an Ultra Ball, scared and battered. A cold sweat ran down Skyler's neck, as he hoped the ball wouldn't open. He picked it up carefully and placed it in the bottom of his backpack.
"W-well then. I better get on over to the Game Corner. See if I can hit the slots. I almost have enough coins for the prize I want. Do you want to come with me?" Skyler said. At this point he was staring straight at Steel, waiting for a response.

"Alright, I've never been to the Game Corner... But I've got to leave Goldenrod soon, I don't have a single League Badge to my name. I heard Violet's gym is the easiest... And there's a bike shop in town. I should get to that... Oh! And there's the Big shop north of here... And I heard that there's an abandoned Pokemon egg at the day-care... We should check that out... Y'know what? You go to the game corner, I'll go to the day-care, we meet up back here later. Alright?
After returning from the Day-Care, Steel stood inside the Pokemon Center holding an egg. Steel looked around himself, obviously awaiting Skyler's return from the Game Corner. Steel watched the egg in his lap bob back and forth whilst waiting for Skyler.

"Excuse me!" someone called to Steel from nearby.
It was Jade, running over as fast as she could. She slowed down and placed a hand on her chest, panting heavily. When she regained her breath she looked back up at him. "I apologise for how rude I am to impose on you, but may I ask something?" She didn't wait for his reply and looked around, rather annoyed, as she went on. "I am afraid my Misdreavus has wandered off somewhere and I simply cannot find her in this labyrinth of a city. You have not, by any chance, seen anything unusual happening around here?"
Jade looked back at him and her eyes narrowed just a little. "Hold on; you seem familiar."

Sidney was looking at the gym again. After the battle, he had started to wander the streets of Goldenrod and ended up back where he had started. "Who designed this city?" Sidney asked Dart. Sidney decided to leave Goldenrod because he at least knew the way out of the town ... Or he thought he did, but when Sidney ended up in an area he had never seen before "This city is mean" he mumbled to himself. Sidney continued to wander the streets of Goldenrod in what he thought was a route out, but he was just actually walking in a large circle.

Skyler was walking away from the Game Corner, with his new pokemon in hand. He had won big at the Game Corner. He had about 2000 coins left to spare. He was walking around, trying to get back to the Pokemon Center where he would meet Steel, when he saw a little kid who was clearly lost. Behind with the kid was a Dratini. He looked at the kid until the kid looked back at him with a sense of bewilderment, and then walked away motioning for the kid to follow, although he did not take the time to see if the kid was looking directly at him a knew that the motion was directed towards him.
As he walked down the road, he felt a shudder in his back. A Misdreavus popped out from his chest and winked at him. He looked at the Pokemon with a face of bemusement and carried on to the Center.
Inside, he met up with Steel, as well as some girl he didn't know. Something compelled him to ask Steel if Steel knew her, but he felt the question was obvious.
"HI!" Skyler shouted, sort of barging into their conversation. He looked at Steel, and then Jade, and then Steel, and then at his new Pokemon, inside of its Pokeball. "I saw a Misdreavus before, and it was messing with me. I continued to walk, but I feel like it was following me." Skyler said, looking at the ground. His head popped up, and he said "Well, anyways, I got the Pokemon I wanted from the Game Corner. That battle we had - Steel and I - showed me that I need to train my pokemon a bit harder if I want them to be powerful enough for me to take on the rest of the Pokemon League." Skyler said, apparently towards Jade, but to anyone who was listening. He found himself staring for a moment before he turned around, ready to leave.

"We still have to find that Pokenon,
Skyler, you're going to help me. Just then, as if it was waiting for an audience, the egg that Steel held began to crack, "Huh?" And at that moment, the bane of Steel's existence was born... "It's a Munchlax!" The small and chubby Pokemon shook off the remains of the egg's shell, bowing to the audience before it's spotlight was stolen by Steel, "We still have to find the Misdreavus, Skyler, I'll take the south side of town, you take the North. And... you're coming with me" Steel pointed to Jade , as well as his Munchlax.

"Hmm. And what shall I do?" Skyler said. "Should I just wander about and hope it finds me? It seemed to take some interest in me after all." Skyler said, without turning around to face the group. He then walked out the door, and began wandering the streets.
"Hmm. Maybe my new friend can help me. I might as well let him get some air, being confined to that Game Corner for so long. Come out here, Pikin (pronounced PEE-kuhn, if you're interested)." And from his pokeball came a rather long serpentine body. A Dratini from the game corner. He looked around at his new world, all of the lights, colors, took in all of the smells and all of the noises. He wrapped his body around Skyler, which was nearly as long as Skyler is tall. "Ok, Pikin. We're gonna look for a Misdreavus, so lets hit it, buddy." Skyler and Pikin thus began there own search for Misdreavus.

Just when she placed why the boy was familiar - one of the trainers from earlier - the second came up to them both. Jade let out an aggravated sigh after he explained his encounter with Faye; of course she would be nearby, but she was never in range for Jade to find her quick enough.
"And... you're coming with me," Steel said, pointing at Jade.
She frowned, only stopping when his pointer finger switched to the newly hatched Munchlax. Jade would remind herself to fawn over it later.
"We needn't search all over town. Faye - that is her name - doesn't wander too far from where I am. It's just a matter of - " Jade stopped. She could definitely sense something now. And close. Right behind her. Of course. "All right, Faye, play time's over. It was bad enough on the Magnet Train but now it's getting - "
As soon as Jade turned around, Faye revealed herself as though she just materialised from nothing. Out of her mouth came a tongue that looked too large for the Pokémon's mouth, and with it Faye gave Jade a slow Lick on the side of her face. Jade was paralyzed for moments, stuck in a cringe of disgust as Faye mimicked a giggle and disappeared again.
"That... was just... charming," Jade managed through her teeth, wiping away at her face. "She is still nearby, at least. It is best to catch up with her quickly. Shall we?" The last part didn't really seem aimed toward any particular listener, though it seemed she were addressing Steel as she marched in one direction. Then she stopped. She spun on her heel to face him again. "Exactly where is the south side of town?"

"Alright," he smiled to Jade, with a bit of smugness sprinkled in there. "This should help." Steel threw the Bait Ball and his Psyduck appeared from within, "Kapp, use Confusion to find Faye, and... try not to hurt her." (Confusion was used this way in the manga once... I think)
Kapp's eyes glowed Blue and the Misdreavus appeared in the air, floating above Jade's head. "You should recall her to her Pokeball before she runs away." The Munchlax looked towards Faye angrily. "I don't think Munch likes your Misdreavus very much... " Steel threw two Pokeballs, recalling his Psyduck and Munchlax. "I don't know which way is south, I just thought it'd sound cool."

Jade stared at Kapp for a moment, and then her face lit up. She could sense Faye already. She looked around and, in the air, picked up Faye's presence. Kapp's Confusion soon got to her, and the Misdreavus reappeared, looking rather annoyed.
Jade pulled out her Great Ball and pointed it towards Faye. "I believe that's enough fun for one day, missy." A red laser shot out from the ball and his Faye, and with a moan she was pulled back into her ball.
She tucked Faye's capsule into one of her belt pouches and faced Steel. "I am very grateful for your help. Especially yours, Kapp." Jade knelt down and patted the Psyduck on the head. "So, might I know your name?" she asked Steel without looking up. "Oh, forgive my rude manner, I should introduce myself first. My name is Jade."

Skyler and Pikin search the streets, with no avail. They got back to the Pokemon center, where Steel and Jade were.
"Yeah, we couldn't find your Pokemon." Skyler said, as he saw Jade placing a Pokeball at her
After the niceties, Skyler walked up to them. "Can I presume that that was your Pokemon?" Skyler said.
Pikin was following him, but hid behind his leg, somewhat wary of these strangers.
"Guys. This is the newest addition to my team. His name is Pikin, and he is adorable! And he's going to grow up to be a very powerful Pokemon, indeed." Skyler said. He caught himself staring at Jade again, and then looked away.
"Anyways, I have to go train my team. Their a little on the weak side for this Gym battle. So I guess, you can battle Whitney first, if you so desire Steel."
Skyler walked out of the Pokemon Center with Pikin training closely behind.

"Alright, Jade... So uh, are you traveling as well?... I'm Steel by the by... He's Skyler."

Jade looked up at Steel and smiled. She gave Kapp another pat on the head and stood up. "Yes, I am. Though I'm afraid this is the first city I've been in as far as Johto is concerned." Jade looked around at all of the buildings. "Well, I suppose I should thank you and Skylar for your assistance. Have either of you had lunch yet?"

"You had me at lunch..." At that moment, his Munchlax appeared from his pokeball and sounded it's cry." ((Pokemon don't say their names, graaaaah..))

Jade continued to look around, relaxed. Finally, she gestured towards a diner nearby. "It isn't exactly a restaurant, but I'm afraid I haven't a clue of any other suitable venues." She looked at the two again. "Though I would be willing to search more thoroughly if a diner is not to your liking for a thank you."

Skyler turned around, seeing the two had come outside. The moment he hear lunch, he sprang back over.
"Lunch. No I haven't had any. And I could eat. I'm sure my friends could eat, too! It's been some time since we had dinner last night." Skyler said. Pikin slipped over to Jade, and back to nuzzle against her leg.
"Well, aren't you the friendliest?" Skyler said to Pikin. Hee-haw! Pikin replied back.

"Aw, you are just adorable!" Jade cooed, her mouth moving up into a bright smile. She crouched down and began to stroke Pikin on the head, sometimes tickling him under the chin.
"I'm practically starved myself, and the last meal I had was on the train here." Though her expression didn't change as she fussed over Pikin, her tone sounded flat as she said, "Mimi's probably frustrated from waiting for her food. Stubborn cat, so picky."

As Pikin made noises of happiness from Jade's affection, Skyler looked at the ground.
"Well then! Maybe we should find a restuarant here in Goldenrod. 'Tis the biggest city in Johto, after all!" Skyler said.
Skyler made a click with his tongue and his teeth, and Pikin went to his side. He began to walk, with Pikin following him.
"Maybe you two should let a Pokemon of yours follow you. It helps them get excercise and bond with you. And I figure that being cooped up in this Pokeball isn't too good for the psyche." Skyler said. He motioned for the two to follow him as he walked along the road as if he knew exactly where he was going.

"Follow the Skyler..." he said as he walked behind Sky, leading the way towards food. A diner on the street corner (the equivalent of a Denny's) that had previously caught Jade's attention is still there of course.

Skyler led his entourage down the main street of Goldenrod, until he happened to catch a store.
"This place has some pretty good eats. And a cousin of mine works here, so we can most likely get a wonderful discount. He'd probably like to see our Pokemon, too. This restaurant has a separate section for Pokemon to eat and play." Skyler says. He looks down at Pikin. He puts his hand on Pikin's head, and his hair stands up. His eyes glow a purplish color, and he begins to talk with Pikin. "This is going to be our first meal together as a family, Pikin!" Hee-haw! Pikin jumped up, and wrapped his tail around Skyler, Steel, and Jade, bringing them all in for a group hug.
"Pikin says he's happy to be out of that Game Corner." Skyler said.

"Uh-huh..." Smiles awkwardly, "So, uh... food?"

Jade calmly slipped out of Pikin hold and studied the glaring girl who had approached. Jade's own expression turned to a glare in response, though they shifted into disinterest a few moments later.
"I see no reason to. Your rude manner, for starters, makes accommodating to your request undesirable." She let her eyes wander around and folded her arms. "There is also the rather wide street we are standing in. Surely you have enough room to simply walk around us, no?"

"Hey, take it easy..." Steel said, "How about we buy you some lunch, Skyler can recall his Dratini, and then there's less glaring. Hmm?" Steel bowed his head to Auri before looking back to Skyler and Jade. "The tall one is Skyler, she's Jade, and I'm Steel. The three of us are Pokemon Trainers looking to take on the Pokemon League... And you are...?"

Jade turned away from the girl, suddenly finding interest in something behind a shop window. "A pleasure, I am sure," she said dryly when Steel introduced them.

Pikin curled around Skyler's throat like a quasi-scarf, showing some fear of this girl who had threatened them.
"It's OK, Pikin. Just chill out..." A red flash erupted, and Pikin was recalled to his ball.
Skyler looked at this girl. He walked towards her, and did somewhat slithering motions around her, as if he were examining her the way a python would examine its next meal.
"I like your style! You demand what you want, when you want it. Although, perhaps you might want to rethink your presentation. There are some people around these parts that aren't nearly as welcoming of such behavior. Although, then again, you probably wouldn't care. It'd be interesting if we made each other's aquaintance. I'm Skyler Rilke." Skyler appeared slightly uncomfortable, if only because he isn't very use to having to look down when communicating with someone.
"Considering your atitude, I would imagine that the gym here in Goldenrod brought you to these parts. What is your name?" Skyler stepped back to be in line with Steel and Jade, and stared at this girl who had approached them with a stare that was blank, but at the same full of intrigue and intent.

Steel smiled to Auri, stepping out of her way of course... "So how about lunch?..."

Shakes Auri's hand and smiles. "Well then... Off to lunch, I guess."

"Steel! Why are you doing this? Are we buying her lunch because we had the temerity to, as objects with mass, take up a space for a moment, thus restricting her to walking around us? Because that seems..." Then Skyler stopped himself. While he thought that they didn't owe her anything, he detected something was afoot, so he kept quiet.
Skyler walked over and stood next to Jade. "I somewhat regret saying that I liked this girl's sass, because now I feel like we're going to have to put up with it for a while."
"Steel. We never decided who would challenge Whitney first, by the way."

"I'm just trying to help out someone who obviously isn't getting along with the city... And of course, maybe trying to set up a good old fashioned Pokemon battle." Steel tossed a Pokeball into the air, caught it, and returned it to his belt. "But... I think it'd be best to get out of the city before we do that... And before that, lunch... Yep! All planned out!"

Jade kept an ear in the conversation, though the others wouldn't have been able to tell; she was looking around at nothing in particular, as though she were daydreaming. When Skylar mentioned buying lunch, she stifled a giggle out of politeness and gave him a light tap on the shoulder to get his attention.
"Neither of you are paying for lunch. If you recall, I still need to show my gratitude for your helping in finding Faye." She waved a hand in Auri's direction without looking at her, though now that Jade had brought her line of sight back into the exchange she took an interest in the Pokémon on Auri's shoulder, suddenly curious. "If I must, I shall also pay for Miss Prescott's."

"Really--!?" Steel cleared his throat after the rather annoying cracking of his voice, "Er-- I mean... Thank you... Let's stop blabbering and head on inside, then." With that, Steel ran into the diner as fast as... Something fast...

Jade mouth pulled into an amused smile at Steel's response. She hadn't acquainted herself with many trainers since leaving her home, and wondered how many different people there were from these two (three, if she felt obliged to include Auri).
She felt something nearby in the air, and, without taking her eyes off of the diner, said, "Faye, please leave Miss Prescott alone."
There was a high-pitched grumble as Faye showed herself to the rest of the group, hovering near Auri with her tongue at the ready for a Lick. "Surely you must be too hungry for mischief, Faye?" With an excited squeal, Faye pulled her tongue back into her mouth and flew over to hover above Jade's head. Jade walked after Steel into the diner, hands behind her back.

"Hey... I usually don't pry into stuff like this... But how did you know that your Misdreavus was there...? I mean... It was invisible... And... Yeah." Steel's eyes looked from the Misdreavus to Jade and back.

Jade lost her smile and stared off, thinking. "I have never really thought much of it, to be honest. I can just... tell." She shook her head and stopped outside the door of the diner. "Of course, I can not say how long I have been able to sense like this. Perhaps always, but the first Ghost-type I have met is Faye."
At the mention of her name, Faye made an odd purring sound and playfully tugged at one of Jade's pigtails.
"I caught her in the study back home when no-one else could see her. I suppose I had odd senses before that incident, but I'm afraid I don't recall anything as clear before Faye."

"When I was in Sprout Tower training Blazer, we learned how to deal with Ghost-types. I could feel when your Misdreavus was following me, as well as when it decided to phase through my torso." Skyler looked at Auri, and then at Jade, and then at Steel. Then, with a loud, inhuman wail, he said "KASHI!"
From a door behind the counter came out a person who looked much like Skyler, albeit taller by about 6 inches, because he was older.
"You're so loud, cousin. That noise reminded me of my own Loudred - well, Bel is a Exploud now."
Kashi looked towards Skyler and his entourage.
"Wow, Skyler. So many people you've brought with you. Hi, how are you all? I'm Kashi, Skyler's cousin. I am the head chef here, and I am, as I presume all of you are, a Pokemon trainer. I started about 7 years ago in Hoenn - where I used to live, with my partner here - JELLYBUG!, come here!" And after Kashi shouted this, a Sceptile, a bit taller than average, just like many others in the Rilke family it seemed, walked in ducking under the door.
"Anywho, what would you guys like to have? I'll cook it for you, out of nepotism of course." He patted Skyler on the head, to the latter chagrin.
"You've grown a lot, Jellybug. I'm sure you've gotten much stronger than I last saw you."
"Skyler, do you have any Pokemon of your own, besides -" and then Kashi stopped as the two exchanged looks of a frightened acknowledgement.
"Uh.. yeah, I have four." And before the drop of a hat, Skyler's four Pokemon were called out.
He turned to them and said "Jellybug here is going to bring you guys to the area of play for Pokemon, alright?"
He looked towards his group and asked "so, what do you guys want? This is a delightful restaurant, with tons of specialties."

Jade frowned at something Skylar said; whatever it was, it made Faye fidget as a result. Aside from that, she calmly walked into the diner after him.
Jade walked over to one of the empty tables and slid carefully along the seat next to the window. She pulled out two Poke'Balls and let them open with a bright light. The first Pokemon to appear was a Meowth wearing a pink silk bow around her neck; she responded to being released with a big yawn and jumped on the seat to curl up next to Jade.
The second Pokemon was odd, and caught the attention of diners who were curious. There was a murmur wondering aloud what region he came from, and the eyes that turned to observe the Snivy made him nervous. He took some steps back very slowly. Then he squeaked and ran under the table to hide behind Jade's legs.
"Sweetie, there's nothing to worry about," Jade cooed, reaching under the table to stroke Sol's head. Mimi rolled her eyes before she curled back up for a nap. Faye snickered quietly and faded from everyone's view.

Steel chuckled as he called out his Psyduck and Togepi, but, rather than calling out his final Pokemon, he handed it to Skyler's cousin. "It's probably best not to let him out into the main area right now..."

Kashi took the Pokeball from Steel. "Alright then. Is it fit for assisting me with the cooking. Jellybug helps me chop things with his blades, and uses his great speed to carry things and communicate messages around the kitchen, as well as his ability to crawl on ceilings to prevent his size from causing a hazard, for example."
"So, how's the rest of your team, Kashi? I remember when I saw you take on Steven Stone to try and become Champion of Hoenn again, but you lost. Then you went to Sinnoh for a time, and challenged all the gym leaders, and now you're here in Johto." Skyler asked. He had, unbeknownst to anyone in the room, gotten over the counter and fairly close to his cousin. His cousin, however, was used to Skyler's tendency to do this, often saying when they were younger that someone should put a bell on him. He says as much before answering.
"I still have them with me.They've gotten stronger since the last time you saw them in Hoenn, of course. I can show you all my main team later if you'd like. They're all pretty big Pokemon, like Jellybug, and can cause some serious damage because they aren't fit for Restaurant life." Kashi looked at everyone, and then his cousin, and then took a step back.
"I just had an idea. How about we just bring you the Company Specialty of the House?" Kashi said with a vibrant smile. He looked around at the crew again, and then whispered something to Skyler, as he looked to his group, and said "I'm trying. But you know how I am, man. Now get cookin'!" Skyler said in a bantering manner.
((I like the sprite and the name a lot, actually. Steel Winters has a kind of feeling like he wouldn't be very amicable, though. I recall making a sprite for Skyler, back when his last name was something stupid. I chose Rilke, out of respect for one of my favorite Poets))

Steel looked at the floor, a bit annoyed at this point. "So when're going to eat, eh?"

"Alright. I can see this is a man with his priorities straight! I know just what to do!" Skyler's cousin fell back into the kitchen. A whitish light erupted, and they hear Kashi say "He'll be a perfect cooking assistant. I just hope he doesn't eat everything. Well, this one is young, so it'll work out indeed."
OK guys. My cousin is probably a better cook than he is a battler, and he is a wonderful battler, so let's go find a see. Skyler walked to a table to sit down.
Upon finding a table, he looked at the two ladies in their company and motioned to let them take a seat.
"After you, of course." Then he let Steel take the next seat, and sat on the outer part of their (his and Steel's) seat. He looked around, and then said "I'm sure it shouldn't take much more than 20 minutes. So, we can converse, I guess. Someone come up with a topic." Skyler then began to look at the table, with an air of uncomfortableness.

... "I think it's going to be a while before we get food..." Steel sighed, "That Munchlax is going to tear down the entire kitchen... And then some... It's a newborn, it hasn't eaten at all since it hatched... So there is no questioning that it's going to eat everything... And so, your cousin isn't the brightest person I've ever met. Just putting it out there... All straightforward and such."
Steel cleared his throat. "So, uh... Yeah... How're you ladies?"

Jade frowned at something Skylar said; whatever it was, it made Faye fidget as a result. Aside from that, she calmly walked into the diner after him.
Jade walked over to one of the empty tables and slid carefully along the seat next to the window. She pulled out two Poke'Balls and let them open with a bright light. The first Pokemon to appear was a Meowth wearing a pink silk bow around her neck; she responded to being released with a big yawn and jumped on the seat to curl up next to Jade.
The second Pokemon was odd, and caught the attention of diners who were curious. There was a murmur wondering aloud what region he came from, and the eyes that turned to observe the Snivy made him nervous. He took some steps back very slowly. Then he squeaked and ran under the table to hide behind Jade's legs.
"Sweetie, there's nothing to worry about," Jade cooed, reaching under the table to stroke Sol's head. Mimi rolled her eyes before she curled back up for a nap. Faye snickered quietly and faded from everyone's view.

"Really--!?" Steel cleared his throat after the rather annoying cracking of his voice, "Er-- I mean... Thank you... Let's stop blabbering and head on inside, then." With that, Steel ran into the diner as fast as... Something fast...
He looked towards his group and asked "so, what do you guys want? This is a delightful restaurant, with tons of specialties."

"But he's so adorable. And he's only a baby, so surely he can not do any damage?" Jade wondered aloud. She felt a tap on her leg; Sol was looking at the feet of Steel and Skylar, shivering at the new company. Jade shook her head at him and giggled softly. She reached under the table, picked the Snivy up, and placed him on her lap (much to Mimi's envy). "Sol, these are some trainers I have met with today. There is no need to be so shy, sweetie."
"So, uh... Yeah... How're you ladies?"
"I actually wanted to inquire about you, seeing as you have already asked something of me." She smiled as she let Sol settle in her lap (though he still observed the other three with caution. "I would like to extend the question to Skylar and Miss Prescott, if they wouldn't mind. Why so eager to battle the gym leader?"

"Ah, well... Luck just hasn't been on my side for a few days... I mean... Just two days ago, in Violet City... Falkner was out of his Gym... And now, today, Whitney's gone." Steel sighed, "Ah, well I'm sure I'll get to fight a Gym Leader eventually. Even if I have to challenge the strongest of them first... Maybe me beating a Gym Battle is taboo or something..."

"Ah, so you have been to other areas of Johto already? Is this your home region, then?" Jade asked with interest. "I am from Kanto, and I only arrived in Goldenrod yesterday."

"Yeah, I live in Cherrygrove City. Or, lived, I guess... I'm traveling now of course... Er... Yeah. I caught Kapptain on the way here, and Spyke was my very first Pokemon."

Skyler was quite as well, looking down at the table, wondering when his cousin would come back with the food. Kashi came back with an apron on with some food residue on it. He tapped Skyler on the shoulder, and Skyler looked up, his face of discomfort disappearing.
"Skyler. Can you uh, come with me to the kitchen for a moment?" Kashi said as he looked at Skyler.
"Sure, man." Skyler stood up, and the two walked to the kitchen. Their conversation made a small noise, but was incomprehensible from beyond the counter. A few minutes later, Skyler walked back to the table.
"So, my cousin Kashi made me an offer that it'd be foolish for me to refuse." He looked around at everyone.
"He's going on a trip to Hoenn, and he wants to bring me. He says I'd like the tropical climate, and that all of the Pokemon there are very interesting. He thinks that the trainers and gym leaders in Hoenn would be more worthwhile to battle than those from here in Johto. So I guess after we all eat, the four of us will part, and the three of you guys can go on your merry way. It was nice to know you for the short time, I guess." Skyler looked around at everyone, and then resumed looking at the table as if it had some sort of message for him in it.

Steel smiled to Skyler and offered him a hand to shake, "Nice knowing you, Sky... Seeya eventually." He quickly reached down to his belt and plucked a strange pokeball from it, "Take this with you." The Pokeball seemed to be a modified premier ball, half of the ball has a blue stripe, the other half is a red stripe, they meet in the center where the button is. "It's not the best, but It's something to remember me by... The Steel Ball-- Trademark." He chuckled as he handed the ball to Skyler.

"I am simply curious, Miss Prescott. If you wish to keep to yourself that is perfectly fine. I do not mean to pry." Jade spotted a loose strand of hair in front of her face. She grumbled something about it being stubborn and pulled the cherry blossom hair clip loose, letting her bangs fall over one side of her face. As she pulled it back in place to secure it again, she said, "As for me, I saw a challenging feat and took it. It's also a better reason to leave home than, 'I want to see the world,' seeing as my father gets paranoid when we wander 'too far' into the gardens."
When Steel gave Skylar his customised PokeBall, Jade stood from her seat and leaned over to get a look, unknowingly making Sol jump and leaving him clinging to her jacket. "You modified that yourself? You must be well acquainted with the technology," she said, intrigued.

"Er-- It's a hobby, really... I learned how to make Pokeballs from apricorns and install the little device... It's really mostly decorational... I mean... Uh... The Pokeball, it works... But it's really just for looks, it only works as well as the average Pokeball; I just made it to differ my Pokeballs from somebody else's... I just made them recently, and I've been waiting to move my Pokemon into these new ones..." Steel scratched the back of his head, blushing in an almost surprisingly modest fashion as he plucked a second Steel Ball from his belt and handed it to Jade. "There, just give it back after you're done... It takes a long time to make these... About a week really; I don't know how Kurt manages to complete them in only a day."

Skyler looked at Steel and his ball, and then at Steel's hand outstretched. "If it took you a week to make and, looking at this hardware, the resources are scarce to make these, it wouldn't be very responsible to give this to me."
Skyler then pushed away both of Steel's hands.
"We've been outside all day, and you've handled a Pokemon that was just born. I've never seen you wash your hands today, so I decline shaking your hand." Skyler said.
Skyler walked to the back room and recalled his Pokemon, and afterward, walked from that back room to the kitchen again, looking back at the table one last time, without making a gesture, before walking to greet his cousin, closing the door behind him.

"Ah... Well then, I uh... Yeah. Bye." Steel looked over to Jade and Auri. "So... uh... Yeah."

Jade took the SteelBall with as much care as if it were glass. She turned it over between her fingertips, her face lit up with a smile.
"I've always found Poke'Balls to be fascinating,".she remarked. Mimi growled in disagreement next to her; the Meowth climbed across her lap and jumped up onto the window sill to nap in the sun.
"Well I know YOU don't, Mimi."
After Jade finished curiously examining the device, she handed it back to Steel. She noticed the space next to him was empty and frowned . "Where did..." She took another look around. "My, did Skylar leave already?"

Chapter 2: Vs. Ampharos

((I just thought, hey! how about I cut up the RP a bit, so that every major event is labeled as such... And... Wynaut!? ... Bad Puns))
After the three had finished with their lunch, they decided to, leave the City and head north, hours of small talk passed as they trekked across the northward route, their small talk was finally cut short by the loud cry of one Pokemon, and the roar of another.
"Did you guys hear that?..." The ground shook, "Nevermind, I'm not imagining anything!" Steel ran off the path and into the forest until he reached a clearing, within the clearing there were two wild Pokemon, fighting. The two Pokemon were obviously very powerful as well. The two pokemon were...
"Ampharos, and Kangaskahn?! Why in the world are they fighting eachother!?"
The Kangaskahn punched the Ampharos, full force, right into the crystal on it's forehead. The Ampharos countered with a Thunderbolt from the crystal on it's tail. Steel stared at the two Pokemon for a while before saying, "We have to stop this. They'll destroy the entire forest if they keep going like this."

Steel stared at the two Pokemon, the Kangaskahn appeared to be on a rampage; and the Ampharos was just barely keeping up with the fight. "Hrm...-- I remember something from a book I read, actually... Do any of your Pokemon know any attacks that could put a Pokemon to sleep? Maybe Paralysi-- I know what to do! You two, if you have a Pokemon that could put the Kangaskahn to sleep, great! I'll take on the Ampharos!" And before anyone could object, Steel ran out into the forest with whatever crazy plan he had... Steel threw what appeared to be a tightly woven fishing net over the Ampharos, and commanded his Togepi to use yawn on the charging Kangaskahn. His Psyduck ran forwards without Steel even asking it to, but it was quickly smacked aside by the Kangaskahn. "Kapp--!" Steel was hit by a Thundershock from the Ampharos in his improvised 'Capture Net', similar to the one Bugsy would use. Steel collapsed from the electrocution and appeared to be knocked out cold... The two Pokemon loomed over Steel's unconcious body and growled, the Kangaskahn fell over onto it's side as the delayed effect of 'Yawn' kicked in; and the Ampharos freed itself from the net... The Ampharos looked as if it was pretty ticked off at Steel for interrupting it's battle.
((IS IT DANGEROUS TO GET INVOLVED IN FIGHTS BETWEEN WILD POKEMON?!... MAYBE.))

Jade readied herself with Mimi's Poke'Ball when they approached the battle. She rolled her eyes at Auri's statement. "And what do you propose? Leaving them to their business while try cause distress for other Pokemon? Miss Prescott, I'm afraid I have to disagree!"
Jade looked in horror as Steel collapsed from the Thundershock and saw the Ampharos' clear annoyance. She switched Mimi's ball for Faye's and tossed it into the air to release her. Jade then ran over to where Steel was lying and stood in front of him, standing in the way of further attacks just in case.
"Faye, use Confuse Ray on Ampharos!" she called out, putting her arms in front of her and bracing herself for any more attacks.

Sidney had followed a group of people out of Goldenrod, just because they seemed to know where they were going. However, seeing the wild Pokemon battle panicked him because wounds obtained in wild Pokemon battles were more serious than wound taken from trainer battles. Plus Sidney could almost feel the wounds that the Pokemon had taken and knew that these Pokemon were too strong for his, so he recalled Dart into his Pokeball and hid in a bush hoping no one saw him.

The Ampharos shook as it was caught in the Misdreavus' stare. The Pokemon attempted to release an electric attack from it's tail, but failed; the electricity backfired through it's entire body, causing the Ampharos to stagger. In other news, Steel opened his eyes and looked up to Jade; He offered her a toothy yet weak grin. "Alright..." Steel sat up and looked to the struggling Ampharos, "I still have one last Pokemon, hold on..." Steel looked at his Togepi, which has quietly been waiting for his orders to attack.
"I need to finish this one..." Steel said as the Togepi appeared in front of the Ampharos. "Alright! Metronome attack!" As he called out the attack, with the blue glow of the Togepi's eyes and the wave of it's stubby arm, the Togepi launched itself into the air a red orb of energy forming in it's tiny hand and launching at the already damaged Ampharos. "I think that might be a Focus Blast!" The Togepi landed on the ground, smiling happily. The Ampharos collapsed on the floor incapable of battling further. "Alright, and now the big finish..." Steel grinned as he tugged an empty Steel ball from his belt and tossed it onto the Ampharos' belly, it bounced once and then flashed as the Ampharos was sucked into the ball.
Bob... Bob... Bob... Ding!
"Heh, sorry to steal the show...--" He chuckled, "Steel the show, heh... Get it?... Puns..." Steel rubbed the back of his head and winced a bit. "Well... That's going to take a bit to heal..." Steel looked to Jade and Auri, sitting down in the grass; grinning to them with a newly chipped tooth. "So, uh... How about that?... Uh... Thanks for all that, Jade. I blacked out for a bit there... Err... Where is my arm!?-- Just kidding." Steel chuckled, and finally stopped his rambling.

Faye looked as though she were frowning, inspecting the area where the Ampharos has once been.
Jade breathed a sigh of relief once the Pokémon was captured, though she found herself looking to the sleeping Kangaskhan. She walked up to Steel and offered him a hand. "Congratulations on your capture, Steel. Perhaps we should all hasten before we have a second run in with danger." She looked calm and cool as she spoke. "I think it best that we find a place where you can be treated, also. You were electrocuted into unconsciousness, after all."

He chuckled at the two as he grabbed ahold of Jade's hand and lifted himself up. "Yes, it was stupid." Steel nodded to himself and followed up the statement, "But sometimes it's the best way to go about things!... Eh, not really; But you get the point... Or not" Steel shrugged at his nonsense and looked to the Kangaskahn... "Don't they usually carry around a baby?" Steel kneeled down and inspected the Kangaskahn's pouch. "Nothing in there... But wait, here's a silly question... Why are these two Pokemon here, of all places? Ampharos and Kangaskahn are found in two completely different parts of the region..." Steel yawned, "I'm just blabblering again, how about we keep heading North? Ecruteak's nearby... And something tells me that I need medical attention."
(Auri's driver gave me temporary control over the character... AND I'M GOING TO ABUSE IT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!... Ehem, Kidding.)
"Uh, right..." Steel sighed as he picked himself up and started walking northward, Auri happened to be headed in the same direction, apparently. Steel kept walking as the sun went downwards to their left, it was quite boring. Steel sighed and Auri complained a bit, so they finally set up camp on their way to Ecruteak... Steel, who had come prepared for traveling, pulled a small tent from his bag and began setting it up... Steel ran out to the woods to grab some sticks for a fire, leaving the tent half finished.

((Sorry for not being back on, didn't have time to post when I was last here XD))
Jade kept an eye on Steel for a while as they made their way to Ecruteak - he had been electrocuted, after all - but turned her attention to observing the scenery when it seemed that he was fine. Well, for now, anyway, until they got a clear verdict. She was bored a lot of the time as they travelled, keeping up some small talk every now and then, but most of the time she was quiet. There were a couple of moments when Faye caused some mischief, but nothing else eventful to Jade.
When they were setting up camp, Jade pulled only a sleeping bag from her pack and rolled it out neatly. When Steel wandered off for some reason - he mentioned something about sticks but she hadn't taken much notice - she saw his unfinished tent. She found herself annoyed by it being incomplete and decided to try and put it together herself. It couldn't be that hard.
By the time Steel was back, Jade had made little progress; there was a straight red mark on one side of her face, one of the poles lying in front of her (with a couple of her hairs caught on it), and she was sat on a small rock scowling as she read the manual she had dug out from Steel's pack. She looked up at the sound of the firewood falling on the ground. Jade huffed and pointed at the unchanged tent.
"That thing is a mess. I don't see why it was not made to be built in a much simpler manner," she complained, wincing from the injury she had received trying to assemble the tent pole.

Steel tried to stifle a laugh. "I uh, Sorry. But I'll finish up the tent. You can keep an eye on the Pokemon." he smiled to Jade as his Psyduck rushed around the campsite, setting up things from Steel's pack; a few small throw pillows and a large quilt. "Er-- Or not." Steel sighed a bit as his Togepi set up a campfire. "How about you just relax? They seem to have everything handled." Steel finished putting up his tent and watched his Pokemon rush about. "I didn't even ask them to do this..." He scratched his head as he sat down on one of the throw pillows. "So, uh... Yeah." Steel looked off to the sun setting over the autumnal trees.

After the others had left, Sidney left his hiding place and looked at the sleeping Kangaskahn and spoke to it "You've lost your child, you must be desperate to get it back ... But, people think you are rampaging and they blame you ... You'll get hurt trying to find your child this way". While he spoke Sidney took out his spare Pokeball "I'll help you find your child and when you do I'll take you home and let you go ... If you want". Sidney pressed his Pokeball against the Kangaskahn.

The Kangaskahn was pulled into Sidney's pokeball, he caught the Kangaskahn without too much effort.
Steel's Pokemon just finished setting up camp as the sun finished setting, they looked exhausted, but happy. Steel brought them all over to the campfire to rest, Kapp'tain even went out of his way to gather berries for a dinner. Steel looked at the berries and nodded sheepishly. "I don't know how to cook." Steel fell over in dismay, "Why did I forget to pack food!?" Steel brought his hand up to his forehead. ((I don't know why... But I think Sidney should've caught up with them by now, so maybe he could make an appearance some time soon, It'd be best if everyone came together))

"Why would you bring pillows?" Jade muttered, looking rather confused as she settled on her rolled out sleeping bag. "From what I have learned, it's a bit impractical, isn't it? Of course, Mimi doesn't seem to agree," she sighed. Mimi, after spending much time on Jade's shoulders, leaped on the chance to claim a pillow for herself.
Jade chose to stay out of the way of Steel's Pokémon and watched the sky as it began shifting to night. Sol sat in her lap, still watching the others with wary eyes. Faye continued to foil attempts to set up camp until everything was done - she seemed to target the tent more than anything - and Mimi just napped.
"Why did I forget to pack food!?"
Jade frowned and gave him one sideways glance. She reached for her bag, dug into it, and pulled out three nutrition bars. She tossed one at Steel and the other in Auri's direction. "I have no idea how to cook myself, so I keep these on hand. Mother says they suffice well enough, though I have not used them to substitute dinner." She shrugged, ripped the wrapping of her bar open and took a bite.

Sidney looked at Kangaskahn's Pokeball and then turned back to Goldenrod, then he remembered getting lost in Goldenrod and preferred his chances out in the wild rather then in the city so he turned to keep walking forward.
After a small walk, Sidney found a camp site with some people gathered around a fire "Hey" said Sidney, hoping he wasn't interrupting anything.

Jade's head snapped around to look at Cody. Sol squeaked and clung tightly to his trainer's shirt, staring at the newcomer. Mimi didn't move one bit.
"Ah, we have a guest." Jade brightened up and looked around for a place for Cody to sit. Her eyes turned to the large pillow Mimi was occupying. With one quick swipe, the Meowth's pillow was pulled from beneath her and she fell on the ground. She sat up and hissed at her trainer, who replied with, "Oh, remember your manners! If you wish for comfort so badly, find something more suiting for you!"
Mimi made a grumbling sound as she found one of Steel's smaller pillows; Jade muttered something about her being a spoiled cat. Jade puffed up the pillow and placed it back on the ground. "Here, feel free to sit if you wish - " She froze and her eyes went wide as she sensed something. "Faye, do NOT - "
It was too late. Faye's tongue was suddenly hovering in the air and it licked the side of Cody's face; the sound of Faye's distorted giggling filled the air.
"That is no way to greet someone, young lady!" Jade called into the night air, her tone strict. "I apologise for her; she has been quite restless since I met her."

"No need to apologize" Sidney spoke with a cheerful voice "Pokemon will be Pokemon" he said as he walked forward towards the strangers. Then, Sidney stopped and looked at the others for the first time realizing that they might not have the same personality as the person who greeted him. "Is it ok if I stay here for a bit? ... I wouldn't want to overstay my welcome or cause problems" Sidney asked, taking a step back.

"It's fine, just don't go setting anything on fire." Steel chuckled as he chewed on the nutrition bar. He looked to Jade and said "Thanks, by the way..." Steel looked to the berry pile and picked up one of the berries, a strange looking red and spiky ball, for those who would have knowledge of such fruit, it is called a Tamato Berry. Steel held the berry and thought about eating it for a bit. He then sunk his teeth into the berry and yelped, his face turned completely red and his eyes were watering.
"That!... Is Spicy... Really... Really Spicy. I feel like someone set my tongue on fire..." Steel looked around, "Do any of you have any milk or something?... Water? Juice?... Something." He sighed and rubbed his forehead, he looked to Auri who had already fallen asleep. "Well then... Nevermind," Steel walked off to his tent, "We'll be right back after these messages." Steel said to Jade and Sid with a chuckle. ((Pokemon Adventures: The New Johto Journeys is brought to you by: Timothy hay, feeding rabbits since year.))

"G-Guys?..." Steel stood up and looked about the camp, Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow graffiti was smeared all over the campsite and the people residing in the camp. "What's going on?! And who did this!?" A bush rustled and out came four Smeargle, each with different colored tails, Red, the one in front, Green the one standing to the right, Blue to the left, and Yellow standing behind Red. The Smeargle laughed and bowed to the group as Steel looked at the Pokemon... The four Smeargle leapt up into a tree, painting the tree as they moved. Steel looked at his hands, covered in a paintlike substance... He then looked to Jade and Auri, they seemed to be covered in the Smeargle's Markings, Sidney was as well... Steel chuckled at the three of them and brought out his Golduck. "Kapp'tain, buddy. How about you wash up the camp?... And... Us, of course... Hm..." And then, echoing through the forest came a musical sounding drumbeat and the chittering cry of a Pokemon... A large Pokemon came marching down the route, upon later inspection; it was two Pokemon, one riding on the other's head... Bellossom riding on a Ludicolo's head, the Ludicolo dancing along with the Bellossom, the two were singing with musical cries... And soon enough, it began to rain, the drops falling with Ludicolo's fast paced movements... The two grass Pokemon leaped in circles and basked in the water as the rain cleaned the camp, and Kapp'tain also seemed to be happy about the water. "Huh, I've never seen that Pokemon before..." Steel looked straight at the Ludicolo in a confused fashion. "Have you three seen it?... Yes? No? Maybe?"
((P.S. Steel, being a local to the Johto region, and never leaving his home until recently, has yet to memorize every known pokemon to this date... Ludicolo is one of the ones he doesn't know about...))

"Never seen it before ..." said Sidney as he walked out into the rain, which he saw as a good thing as it washed off the rest of the Smeargle paint "Although a rain dance first thing in the morning is almost as annoying as a Smeargle raid during the night" Sidney mumbled while yawning and reaching for one of his Pokeballs.

Auri complained a bit.
"I guess you're right..." Steel said to Sid before wandering into his tent to grab a small collapsable umbrella. "I only have one, so... I guess you three could share it somehow?... It's a bit small... Hrm..." Steel scratched his head and passed the umbrella over to Sidney as he packed up the camp, putting everything into his giant backpack. "Alright, let's get moving; we still have a lot of ground to cover before we get to Ecruteak!" And with that, Steel and his Psyduck sauntered up the road to Ecruteak City, Pointing to the sky as he marched on.

(Alrighty then!... I'll just delete all that material! Whoosh! It disappeared!... And after all that I think I should just do a little opening post for the whole Ecruteak shizzle.)
Steel and the gang arrive in Ecruteak City. His Psyduck ran around in circles with excitement as a cool breeze swept over the trees. "Lovely weather, isn't it?..." Steel stretched out his limbs and yawned. "For a city this place has a rather... Soothing feel. Oddly enough." His Psyduck ran through the city and skidded to a stop and flew a few inches into the air as he fell. "Kapp! What's gotten into you-- Oh." Steel looked up from his Psyduck to see four people, chatting with eachother. Steel was very awestruck by this, but not by their conversation, but rather by who was talking... Whitney, Falkner, Bugsy, and Morty! They all looked towards the group led by Steel in confusion. "Need something?" Morty said in a rather monotonous tone.

Sidney was carrying Dart when he stopped behind Steel as he started at the four people. And, while Steel may have been awestruck by them Sidney had never seen them before as he had no interest in gyms or had ever even entered one. "Why have you stopped" Sidney asked Steel "Are these your friends?". Even as he said it Sidney thought that probably wasn't the reason, or Steel probably wouldn't be surprised to see them.

Moves: Blaze Kick (Egg move) Force Palm Counter - Hopper - Natu - Female - Bold - Just caught by Alex, Hopper isn't very friendly towards Alex and his team. However, will do what is needed to protect his trainer.

Jade looks around and shifts on the spot. She doesn't know what Steel could mean by 'soothing'; she got nothing soothing from the chill that ran through her when they walked in. Faye - the only one of her Pokémon out - reappears in front of her and gives her trainer a confused look.
"There is something wrong here. I haven't a clue what it is, but... it is something."
"Are those your friends?"
Jade looks over at the group of four staring at their own group. Jade taps her chin. "I doubt it. I think they are gym leaders, but I can only say that I recognise Whitney out of them," I say to Sidney.

Steel looked to Sid as if he had seven heads... "You're kidding, right? They-- They-- They're!" Steel brought his hand up to his forehead, nearly falling over in a comic fashion. Whitney and Bugsy had snickered at that, Falkner and Morty were still chatting with eachother for a few moments before they took notice of the two. Whitney began talking to Sidney with a bit of an annoyed tone, "Have you been living under a rock?... I'm Whitney, Leader of the Goldenrod Gym! And this is Bugsy, Falkner, and Morty!... They're also Gym Leaders... But... Not as Important as me, of course!~" She chuckled to herself. Steel jumped up in the air with excitement, pointing an index finger to Falkner. "I'll battle all four of you then! Yahoo!" Steel was glowing with excitement. With that Morty stood up and spoke to Steel and Sidney, "If you wish to battle us then you're going to have to wait. I apologize, but the four of us have important businesses to attend to... Although... Hold on one moment," He looked up to the sky in thought for a moment, "Ah. Well, I suppose Whitney may be able to accomodate you if you wish to battle." Morty cleared his throat politely and turned back to Falkner to continue their conversation. Steel looked to Sid, "How about we hit the Pokemon Center before rushing into a fight, Eh?"

"Gym leaders ... Not quite what I thought they'd look like" Sidney mumbled to himself before he realized what Steel had just said "Wait ... When did I say I wanted to fight anyone?" Sidney asked "Cause I'm not so good at the whole battling thing."

"I never said that-- Ah, whatever..." he opened his jacket and pulled out four Pokeballs or rather 'Steel Balls'. "Alright, Whitney how about you and I just start the battle right quick?..." Steel pointed to the remains of the Brass Tower, (currently called the Burned Tower) "In there." Whitney looked to Steel, and then to the Burned Tower and frowned "But it's so messy in there-- I'll!... I, uh... Fine!" Steel grinned at this and started sprinting for the burned building, leaving Sid and the others behind... "Wooo!" Steel exclaimed as he reached the building, his Psyduck jumped up and down happily.

"From what I have heard, you do not need to fight in order to be a trainer," Jade says. She appears to be directing it at Sidney but her gaze keeps switching from place to place. "Supposedly fighting helps, but I feel as new to this as you are, Sidney."
As Steel runs towards the Burned Tower, Jade gets a good look at it and cringes. "That is what feels wrong. Something horrible must have happened there." Jade begins to walk towards it to catch up with Steel. Faye follows, giggling as she fades into the air again.

"I guess so." Sidney said to Jade "Although the trainers everyone talks about are the ones that challenge gym leaders and go around fighting." Sidney then stopped walking as he caught sight of the Burned Tower "That doesn't look safe." He said "I think I'll just stay outside."

Steel, who had already arrived in the tower looked around at the charred wood structure; he ran through the building, ducking underneath collapsed pillars and leaping over fallen bits of roof until he reached the very center of the bottom floor of the building. Steel looked about the empty area with a wild grin, he ran a hand through his hair and swept his other hand into his jacket; four Pokemon flew from the four pokeballs that he threw out from his jacket. "Alright! Jade, Sid! Get on in here! The place should be fine!" Munch and Spyke chased eachother around in circles for a bit; Kapp'tain looked towards Whitney as she pushed through the remains of the Tower. Steel stated, "Shall we?" Whitney smiled and nodded as her Miltank flew from a pokeball. "Alright, Mil Mil's leading! Yay, something tells me that this is gonna be real fun!." Whitney hopped up. Steel grinned, "Alright then... Coming out into the battlefield for the first time!... Ampha-- Amps! Let's start this off with a--... Uhm... I'm not sure what you... do... I uh... Just attack!" The yellow Pokemon looked back at Steel as if he were a complete moron. Amps fell down onto it's rear and began firing small sparks into the air to entertain itself. Whitney nearly fell over with laughter, "Mil Mil, Rollout!" The Miltank leaped into the air and spun at great speed over the ground towards the Ampharos. The Miltank crashed into the Ampharos, shoving the Pokemon into the stone wall on the far end of the room. "Wha-- What!?" Steel smacked a hand into his head. "Amps! C'mon! I uh... Whitney, hold on a moment please! I uh... Hold on..." Steel ran over to his Ampharos, and helped it onto its feet, the Ampharos shocked Steel and stood up by itself; It set up a screen of light around its body and continued to play with its electricity. "I... Uh... Hold on a bit longer... Hrmph. Lets go... Spyke?" His Togepi rushed out to fight. "Right. I uh... Togepi, Metronome!" The Togepi started to wag its little nub hand when its face was Stomped in by Whitney's Miltank.

"I don't believe we will have the pleasure," Jade mumbled, crossing her arms and walking up the steps to the tower. "It seems Steel would like our support inside. I would prefer to be outside myself, but... this is more polite."
As soon as Jade stepped inside, a chill went down her spine. It reminded her of the first time she met Faye, the first ghost Pokémon she had encountered. There was death here, but Jade couldn't tell if there was something nearby or if it was something left over from the past.
Perhaps I should look up this tower's history later. It would give me some peace of mind, at the very least.
Jade had walked in just in time to see Spyke get stomped in the face. She cringed and fought the urge to run out there. It was this part of the battling that she wasn't too keen on.

Sidney entered the tower after Jade and when he saw the stomp he flinched "Why ... Why do trainers have to prove their skills through battles?" He turned to Jade as he asked his questions "It's the Pokemon who use the attacks and take the hits, why do the trainers get praised for just telling them what to do?" Sidney went back to watching the battle, not really expecting an answer.

"I-- Uh..." Steel drew Spyke back into the Pokeball, "Right... I uh," Steel breathed deeply for a moment before casting out another Pokeball, "Kapp, let's get this done real quickly, alright?..." Steel's expression changed so abruptly that it's hardly believable. "Kapp... Hang on." Whitney looked to Steel with a confused expression before grinning, "Mil Mil! Roll 'em out!" The Miltank leaped into the air, curling into a ball; Steel chimed in, directly before the Miltank hit the ground, "Kapp, let's finish this off now!" The Psyduck's eyes glowed bright blue, streaks of blue light shot out from it's eyes and curled elegantly around it's head. The Miltank had already begun rolling towards Kapp; but the Psyduck saved itself by ramming it's head, blue light and all, into the Miltank; stopping the rolling. "Haha-- And... Just as I thought..." Steel hopped up into the air, smiling brightly to the Psyduck as it's entire body began to glow a bright white; it's shape changed in it's metamorphosis, The white light flashed out in all directions; revealing the Psychic Duck Pokemon, Golduck. "Alright Kapp!...--" "WAIT!" Whitney cried out, "I think that's enough, 'kay?" She chuckled a bit, "I don't think we need to do much more of this, kay?... Here... Hold on. The Plain Badge! I think you've earned it." She tossed a badge across the room to Steel, the badge stopped in midair, Kapp had grabbed the badge with it's telekinesis. "Alright," Steel grabbed the badge from where it was floating in the air and pinned it inside his jacket "6 more to go, I suppose..."

Jade clapped at Steel's victory, throwing a pleasant smile his way. Then she looked at Sidney to reply. After all, when asked a question she would answer; no reason not to unless you wished to be rude. However, she was at a loss for an explanation. She had never thought about that when she left home. Jade had only seen the competitive and social aspects of being a trainer. She hadn't considered much about what Pokémon went through other than to care for them and heal them when they were harmed.
"It is... strategic. Trainers always raise and train their Pokémon to be strong and excel at... uh..." Jade rubbed her temple and squeezed her eyes shut. "I... suppose I have no real answer to give, Sidney. None that would satisfy you, anyway."
It's too hard to think here.
"Sidney, do you feel strange here?" It felt like a foolish question. This was the same thing Jade felt when Faye was about to surprise someone, or when she saw a glimpse of a ghost Pokémon that no-one else could see; she didn't think anyone else felt things like this. "I really, truly feel uncomfortable here."

"A gym badge?" Remarked Sidney, looking at the badge "Are they just there to show you beat a gym or do they do anything?" He asked.
"Strange? No I just think this place isn't safe." Sidney replied to Jade "I mean now Steel has won the battle can we leave?"

"Eh?... Oh yeah, sure... We can leave I guess." Steel rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Riiight... How about we just... get on out of here, then?..." Steel took a step towards the door when he heard a loud creaking noise and shuddered, frozen in place. A tall pillar from high up in the tower flew down towards the ground. Steel leaped backwards, away from the falling pillar. A Pokemon in the tower spotted Jade and Sidney, and swooped down from above on long wings, it looked awfully strange as it latched onto Jade and Sidney, a ball with tentacles wriggling around as they latched to the two, a thinner upper body, long wings, horns... It just generally looked awfully strange... Anyhow, it saved the two from a falling pillar; whether or not they could help themselves. Steel was trapped on the other side of the pillar. Whitney was able to escape before the pillar collapsed, of course. After the Pokemon had saved the two from near doom... The dust began to clear... Revealing that, rather than one odd Pokemon, it was two. Noctowl and Shuckle. The Noctowl released itself from the Shuckle's grip and fluttered to the ground, it looked curiously at the two odd-looking people it had just saved from... falling pillars.

Sidney blinked at the fallen pillar and then looked at the Noctowl and Shuckle "Thanks!" he said to the Pokemon "Although where'd you two come from and why'd you save us?" Sidney asked. Then, he looked around for Jade and Steel, he could see Jade nearby, but he couldn't see Steel "Steel!?" he exclaimed.

"I'm uh... I'm alright... I think" Steel coughed... "What was that thing that came by?..." Steel attempted to climb the fallen pillar, but it was too thick to crawl over. "Just... Hold on! It's probably not a good idea to move the pillar... Who knows what else could break... Sorry I got you guys into this mess... I'll see what I can do to try and get out" Steel's footsteps could be heard as he walked around the pillar, observing it quietly. "Uh... Hm... Yeah... I'll just wait here for a bit I guess. Sorry... But... Sidney? Jade? Do you think you could take my Pokemon?... Just for a bit, take them over to the Pokemon center and whatnot? I'll be fine on my own... The place seems quiet." Steel rolled three Pokeballs through a small crack underneath the pillar. "Take care of them... I'm keeping Munchlax just in case." Steel knocked on the pillar for a bit, "Alright... Just head on out... I'll join you in a minute."

Jade had a horrible feeling about this. That feeling inside the Burned Tower wasn't helping her feel any better either. There had to be a way to get him out.
"I am not just going to leave you in there! That tower feels horrible! It feels like... like..." Jade shook her head violently to get rid of the though and made a fruitless attempt to move the pillar. With a frustrated growl she stopped and took a step away.
"There has to be a way in." Then Jade looked up and saw an opening, gaping hole high up in the tower. She just needed to get up there somehow, but there was no way she could climb.
Jade paused, then looked back at the Noctowl that had saved them. Maybe she could fly up there.
"Sorry. It looks as though I won't appear too grateful right now. Cody, take Steel's Pokémon to the Pokémon Centre and bring them back as soon as possible," I say quickly, pulling out an empty Poke'Ball. "I'm going to try and help Steel inside. Faye?"
Faye reappeared in front of Jade, grinning at the Noctowl.

"Right I'll get them to the center." Said Sidney as he picked up Steel's Pokeballs, although he didn't look very happy for some reason. Sidney then left the tower and looked around until he saw the Pokemon center. Sidney ran towards the center, not paying any attention to people around him.

Steel sighed, "Alright... You work on pulling us out from in here... Munchlax and I will relax for a bit." Steel chuckled. The Noctowl seemed to understand what Faye was implying, it is a rather intelligent Pokemon after all. It launched upwards from the floor, gaining altitude at an extremely high speed; the Noctowl soared over the Burned Tower and flew through a large hole in what's left of the ceiling. It reached Steel and clutched his shoulders, tugging upwards gently. Steel shouted to Jade, "Hey! Is this guy the one who saved you?..." Steel recalled the Munchlax to it's Pokeball. "Alright... I guess it's saving me as we--" The Noctowl started flapping its wings and raised Steel upwards at a speed that is still quite high. The Noctowl soared through the hole once again, and dropped Steel to the floor within a foot from where Jade would be standing. "Huh..." Steel rubbed the back of his neck. "What a... Helpful Pokemon... Hm?" The Noctowl flapped its wings and landed on Jade's shoulder, it made a contented hooting noise after it had relaxed. Steel rolled a normal Pokeball in Jade's direction. "That Noctowl seems to like having you around, and quite a lot it seems." Steel stretched a bit.
A Loud crash came from inside the burned tower, some more pillars appeared to be collapsing. "Wha-huh?" Steel looked back towards the tower, an ominous light flickered, and a shadow passed by a crack in the wall. "I don't like this at all, Should we get moving?" Steel looked a bit rattled. And Jade would (possibly) feel the presense of some ghost Pokemon inside the building. The Noctowl hooted warily at the building.
