I got a DS
« on: September 16, 2016, 12:31 »
My brother got a DS for me and some games.

The games I got are:

New Super Mario Bros

Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Games

Lego Batman

Lego Batman 2

Lego Battles

I will get a pokemon game. Which game should I get out of pearl, diamond and platinum?

And which should I get out of white, black, white 2 and black 2?

Platinum is the best out of the Generation 4 games.

You should probably play either Black or White before playing Black 2 or White 2, as B2/W2 makes a few references to B/W here and there.

I've never managed to get far in any of the Generation 4 or 5 games, so I can't really give you any opinion.

Platinum is absolutely the best out of gen 4 (and one of the best in the franchise, imho.) As to black and white, its up to you, really. Ive only played black and black2, but id suggest looking up the legendaries and the other version exclusive mons and making your mind up based on those. Petzbreeder is right, though, you should definitely play b/w before b2/w2.

Platinum's the one with Giratina as the main legendary, right?

I think I'll go with black, because the legendary looks awesome!

What's it called? I know nothing about gen 5 except for the starters.

Platinum's the one with Giratina as the main legendary, right?

Yeah.

Giratina has the ability to transform in Platinum, which makes it more powerful. Dialga and Palkia can't transform, making Giratina the better legendary of the three.

If I did get heart gold or soul silver, I would probably end up launching my DS across the room.

One word: MILTANK!!!

One pokemon I'm going to have on my gen 4 team is Lucario! How can you not have a lucario on a gen 4 team?

I was going to have turtwig, but I also like piplup! I can't make up my mind!

What is this thing???

Is Porygon z any good? I'd have to find a way to get a Porygon or Porygon2 and trade it twice or catch one in the wild (if possible)

Actually, I found Miltank wasn't as difficult in HGSS then in GSC. Then again I was pretty young when I played Crystal and much older when I played SS, so *shrug*

Anyway, Lucario is awesome in DPPt, but it's a little tricky to get.
Spoiler: show
About maybe halfway-ish through the game, when you get to Canalave City, you have to take a boat to Iron Island. There, partway through the cave, you will meet a man named Riley who will travel through part of the cave with you. He will have a Lucario and will heal your pokemon between battles. While you're with him all battles will be double battles, including wild encounters. Once you reach the end of the cave and defeat a couple Galactic grunts, he will give you an egg. That egg will have a Riolu, the pre-evolution to Lucario. It evolves with friendship during the day. You'll have to train it up from level 1, of course, but trust me, it's worth it.

As for starters *shrug* all of them are pretty good. The one you have a picture of is Chimchar. SOME people here hate that pokemon. I'm neutral, personally. It's not the best looking, but it's still not a bad pokemon. The first gym is rock type, but if you evolve Chimchar (level 14) it can learn Mach Punch which helps it in that gym.

And for Porygon Z... Never used it, but it is on my list of pokemon I wanna try someday. You would have to trade it twice to get it, each with a different item (the Upgrade and the Dubious Disk, I think).

And, yes, get Platinum. No, I'm not bias, who said that?
(Really though, it is so much better than Diamond and Pearl, for so many reasons, such as the fact it has more than 2 fire type families, and you can get Dialga and Palkia as well as Giratina).

I'm starting to realize I actually really like the gen 4 games...

Edit: I just noticed I misread you statement about Lucario... I thought you were asking how to get it... Oops, sorry. I'll still leave that there since it took a while to type.
When it comes down to it, the difference between healing and necromancy is timing.

Should I get turtwig or piplup?

For gen 5, I'll choose the grass type (forget the name)

I'll have to think of some good nicknames for them...

Lucario has a pre evolution, doesn't it? Where can I find it?

Pokemon hatch from eggs at lvl1 now???

I'd call myself a genwunner, but I've played second and third gen, so what does that make me?

I would say outdated. Anywho, turtwig worked out great for me. Also levitate bronzong basically bulks out most of the e4 save flint and a few other things, so i'd highly recommend it.

Another game you should try out for the DS is Radiant Historia. It's one of my favorite games.

One game I definitely recommend is Kirby Super Star Ultra. It is a lot of fun and has some pretty cool music and boss fights.
