I always have, and always will, say it KAI-ü-rem. Can't see how it's "supposed" to be pronounced CUE-rem like in that Keldeo movie (only saw a few bits of it when I wanted to see Kyurem in combat :p)

Hm, am I the only one who always mispronounces Sceptile? I always pronounce it with a soft 'c', (as in scepter)... the animated series taught me I was pronouncing it wrong, and I have decided that whoever decides official pronunciations should be fired as my way sounds way better.

I thought that's how you were supposed to say it.

Ash pronounces it Skeptile, like with a k sound. It sucks.

I always used to pronounce suicune as "soo-sign' because I couldn't read its name properly lol. Also dratini was always called 'Dragon-tini'
Also snivy in the anime is 'sn-eye-vee' I've always thought of it as 'snih-vee'.
I've always pronounced wartortle as 'war-turtle', ho-oh as 'ho-ho'
Rayquaza is "Ray-qway-zah". Another one is latios. I've seen some american youtubers say 'lay-tios' but I've always said 'lah-tios'.

Random ones but yeah lol.

I can never read pokemons names right... Dragalge's name confuses me so much, I have no idea how to pronounce it, and apparently I pronounce Yveltal wrong... I keep changing how I pronounce it, like e-ve-tal, e-vet-tal, I don't know.
Also, when I was young I pronounced Ratata as ra-ta-tat-ta, and Magikarp as meta-carp (like meta-knight, except it sucks. Thing is, I had never played a kirby game back then, and neither had anyone I knew, so I have no idea where I got that...)
There's probably hundreds more I couldn't pronounce for a long time, but that's all I can remember right now.

I used to pronounce it with a hard "c", but it was probably due to how the anime pronounces it. I've realized more recently that soft "c" Sceptile flows off the tongue a bit better, so I've just chosen to use that one. I think the anime is capable of being wrong in that regard :p

I can't deny I am a total snob about pronunciations. I know it's a common one but I instantly lose respect for anyone who says "Arseus." IT HAS AN *ARC* AROUND IT. IT IS *ARKEUS*.

I'm not sure how to pronounce "Rattata." One episode of the anime pronounced it "Ra-tuh-TA," (stress on 3rd syllable) while another pronounced it "Ra-TA-ta" (stress on 2nd). I alternate between pronunciations from time to time.

Man tine is pronounced so weird. The PokeDex pro says it's Man-teen but I always thought it was Man-tine. Basically making it rhyme with canteen.

For some reason, Ferglatar. Also, for 5 seconds, Snivvy.

I know this forum hasn't been answered for a while but, I do need some help! I'm making an animation, and caterpie makes a short cameo appearance, how do you pronounce it? Is it Cat-er-pee or Cat-er-pie? I also noticed the "Rayquaza" confusion in this forum. Someone asked how it was pronounced. I think it's pronounced Ray-kway-zar
Thanks to Inferna for one of the many reasons why I love Dragonite!
