Title: How Do Pull String Toys Work?
Post by: The name master on August 20, 2017, 18:34
Has anyone ever wondered how pull string toys (like Woody from Toy Story) work?

For those of you who don't know, you pull a string (located in the back in Woody's case) and he says a phrase as it goes back.

My guess is, it's not an electronic device/circuit, considering how old Woody is.

^It's a shame it doesn't always give you an awnser!

Also, does "there's a snake in my boot" mean anything or is it just literal?

^One of Woody's phrases. Could be literal, but knowing Disney, it probably has some other meaning.

A toy like Woody works similarly with to a Chattyy Cathy or See N Say before the 80s. There is this mechanism that has a needle like a record player that touches a special wax record and it plays the record when the string which is attached to a metal coil is pulled. This generates energy for the toy to talk.
