Title: Earthquake in South Wales
Post by: Shaymin on February 17, 2018, 17:51
At 2:31:04 today there was a magnitude 4.4 (ish) earthquake at 11km depth just north of Swansea. Did you feel it?
I was sat on the couch when it shook in a sideways one-two motion. I thought it was one of my dogs kicking the couch in their sleep, but neither were close enough for it to have been one of them. My mum and brother were both upstairs and felt it too.

Here (https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us2000d3uw#executive) is a link to the USGS site, so you can see that I'm not crazy.

I didn't feel it here in Swansea. We were just stepping out into town when it happened but we weren't even aware until we sat down for a drink.

A few people I know felt it though

i thought our decrepit slanted manse was finally going to fall and kill me at last cos our walls/floors gave a bit of a crack/snap suddenly and that was weird b/c we're all the way in s. yorks

but w/e seismic activity is seismic activity and i'll take what i can get in this boring country.
