2014 Draft for the NFL
« on: May 04, 2014, 23:57 »
Well, it's that time of the year, when winter vanishes from our minds, the weather becomes warm.... and NCAA football players are picked for their NFL teams. The draft is starting on Thursday (5-8-14). So.... here you can talk about what your teams did in the off season, what they need, what they're considering and what they should get.

The Browns have signed 2 QB's (Vince Young and Gavin Thigpen) and a slew of other players. In the draft, they'll still need a QB (no surprise). Still, with the number 4 pick, in my book, the Cleveland Browns should select...... Sammy Watkins?! Why you ask? Because put him on the other end of the field with Josh Gordon.... think about that for a moment.

So.... your thoughts on your teams (and other teams), please.

His pro day was reportedly bad. Plus all the Johnny Football hype makes him seem unimportant. I hope Bridgewater goes to a good team.

There's a thread on reddit that explains it decently.

A lot of people think this will be like the glorious 1999 draft with Tim Couch (a bust but the Browns were a horrible team to be drafted by at the time), Akili Smith (lolololol), McNabb (great player), Shaun King, Cade McNown, Daunte Culpepper (had a great year with Moss and that was about it...), and Aaron Brooks.

I second this. I agree he could be good, but I think he'll be the same as RG3 and with all that moving around burn himself out in one year with some sort of injury.

Let me say this, if Cleveland goes with him for the fourth pick, i'm becoming a Bengals fan, because most likely, either Mack or Watkins (hopefully the latter) will still be there. I say we take the remaining one of the two and use #26 on Carr or Bridgewater.

Don't get me wrong, he's a great QB. However, with all those runs he does (like RG3), Manziel looks like he'll burn out with an injury only a few years into his career (like RG3 again). On the other hand, he could turn out like Wilson and be an instant superstar wherever he goes. To me, with the #4 pick, going with Manziel is a huge gamble.

I admit I overreacted when I said I'd become a Bengals fan, but I just don't want us to gamble on Johnny Football, and likely get burned.

^Why do you care? You're likely taking a CB from the bi- oh wait, wrong friend, I have a friend a school that's a Cinci fan. You've got a shot at Shazier from what i've heard.

I was watching a draft thing for the browns, an analyst said that if Watkins is taken at #3, we should trade back to 6, 7 or 8 and swipe Evans up. I agree with this.

So.... let's get to your teams, enough about Cleveland. Anyone else think Baltimore needs to draft a WR?

We need a free safety more...  Our WR corps are patchwork but patchwork is good enough.

Oh because god forbid players celebrate right?  Dude also doesn't like the Johnny Football label...  look up his Gruden's QB Camp and you'll probably have a better view of him.

Manziel's playstyle is a more erratic version of Russell Wilson.  He's nothing like RG3.

We traded our #4 pick to Buffalo..... who took Watkins. I'm kinda ticked atm. But we got Gilbert, which will give Haden some help. Then guess who Cleveland took?

That's right, Johnny Football.

What did you guys get?
