Title: Pokemon Fighting Game - Pokken Tournament!
Post by: Lord Raven on August 27, 2014, 04:59
This is what we've all dreamed of.

It's going to be released in Arcades in Japan for now but it could make its appearance as a game...  We'll see.

Looks like it could be really cool, hopefully it has a nice roster of fan favorites that make sense in the context of fighting games. Give me Sceptile pls ty.

I like that they're working with the Tekken team too. Tekken might not be the fighting game nowadays but I always really enjoyed them when I was younger.

I've seen a lot of people online (at /r/Pokemon in particular) worrying about the fact that it says something about Japanese Arcades and nothing beyond that. Tekken games always get released exclusively in Japanese arcades for a little while before they get ported to consoles, and Nintendo wouldn't bother putting it out in a global way like this if they didn't plan to localize it eventually, so don't worry friends I'm 99% sure you'll have this for your WiiU's within a year (or 2 maybe who knows).

Also damn; Pokken is a mash of Pokémon and Tekken I didn't notice it when I first watched the trailer but after like an hour I realized. so swag.

The first screenshot for this shows Lucario vs. Blaziken. My body is ready.

But really, this looks awesome. Finally an incentive for me to get good at a fighting game!

Namdai is also pretty good with designing games as of late; the recent Tales releases were solid and Tekken hasn't really put out a bad game in a while.  (At least, none that I've seen).

Pretty hyped for it already! Can't wait to play as Machamp, myself. As for other 'mons I want/expect to make it in, well, hadn't given it much thought until now, so here goes:

Pokemon I personally want to make it in
*Hariyama. Is this really a surprise to anyone?
*Cyber Shredder Bisharp. Had a weird dream it was playable in Smash Bros., but figured it'd make more sense in Pokken Tournament.
*Sudowoodo: Spur of the moment thought, but I would love to see what the Tekken team could do to make an eccentric fighter like this work. Quirky challenge character?

Pokemon I actually see happening
*Mewtwo
*Blaziken
They both have megas, and they're super popular. I'm pretty sure we'll see them worked in somehow.

I also think Mewtwo can get in because he was already in smash brothers lol

Blaziken was shown in the first ever reveal of Pokken Fighters, so it's safe to say he'll be playable. :)

It's been announced that mega evolution is a "major factor" in gameplay. This, at least to me, implies everything playable will have a mega - Mega Machamp?

Pikachu, Gardevoir, and possibly most bizarrely, Suicune, have been revealed as playable characters in Pokken Tournament, so it won't just be Fighting types.

In addition, Support Pokemon were announced that you can choose to help you during the match. So far, Emolga, Fennekin, Snivy, and Lapras have been revealed.

^Yeah, I don't think Pikachu or Gardevoir making it in should surprise anyone, but Suicune I definitely wasn't expecting.

Support Pokemon, though... that's kinda cool, some Pokemon probably make more sense with that role. Gligar plz?
