Age and Gender

19, Male

Description

Height: 5'11
Build: Matt is in reasonable shape and likes to keep himself fit, but loves his food so he maintains a pretty standard shape, and is fairly strong and muscly.
Appearance: Matt has blue eyes and brown, messy hair with a fringe. He usually wears black jeans with a tshirt of some sort, and colourful trainers, which he wears regardless of weather or situation, as well as a pair of headphones, usually around his neck. He occasionally wears a baseball cap or a deerstalker depending on the weather. He isn't very intimidating to look at and has quite a friendly demeanour, but once he gets serious he can be quite threatening.

Personality

Matt tends to be very laid back about everything, and usually manages to keep his cool during tough situations. He is a keen strategist in terms of when he battles and when he is trying to solve a puzzle or sort out an awkward situation, and will use any information he has at his disposal to his advantage. Matt loves music and wears his headphones constantly, and has a tendency to zone out if he is listening to his tunes while someone is talking. Matt loves to cook and loves good food, but if someone insults his cooking skills he really takes it to heart.

History

Matt grew up in Goldenrod City, a bustling metropolis full of fast food and restaurants catering to both humans and Pokemon. Matt's passion for food led him to get a job at one of these restaurants, and eventually got a job at 'The Slugma & Lettuce', as a chef under Jordan Ramsey. He loved it there until one day, Jordan announced his latest speciality dish: Shellder avec Shallots. It was to be cooked for the head of Goldenrod's Department Store, and due to his recent success, Matt was put in charge. This was make or break for Matt, as Jordan Ramsey was about to be promoted to head chef of an even more prestigious restaurant in Sinnoh's Jubiife City, and therefore the position of head chef was going to be available at 'The Slugma and Lettuce'.
Matt had cooked for people of importance before, including Goldenrod's Whitney who was notoriously hard to please, and received a nine star rating out of ten, but the barbaric nature of this dish was too much for Matt to handle. Instead of boiling the poor Shellder alive, Matt took matters into his own hands and prepared a different dish for the head of the Department Store, a Dodrio Egg omelette with assorted spicy berries. Needless to say, Goldenrod's Department store head was pleased with the dish due to Matt's brilliant cooking ability. Jordan Ramsey, however, was far less pleased, and had Matt fired from the restaurant, and arranged for him to be unable to work in any of his restaurants ever again.
Matt's career was practically over. Jordan Ramsey's rising popularity meant that the young chef would find it infinitely more difficult to find work, despite his ability. However, the Shellder which he saved had appreciated Matt's compassion, and on the night he got fired, as Jordan Ramsey was taking the credit for Matt's fantastic omelette, Shellder hit the arrogant fool with 5 Icicle Spears as a thank you to Matt, and from that a partnership was formed. I suppose you could say that Ramsey got his... 'just desserts!' =P
As Matt sought work, he noticed that apart from in classy restaurants, the quality of food was low, both for humans and Pokemon alike. Matt's vision was to enlighten the tastebuds of people and Pokemon alike all over the world, as he would search for new recipes and ingredients without resorting to barbaric methods such as Ramsey's. He had no idea where to start, but a Big Pearl which his Shellder was carrying gave him a financial boost which enabled him to begin his journey.
Where was Matt going to begin though? He had never really ventured out of Goldenrod City before, so he decided to try and get some advice from well-travelled individuals, and therefore his first port of call would be the Bug Catching Contest!

Friends and enemies

None so far.

Pokémon

Polux the Shellder: Matt's first and only Pokemon, who he rescued from being boiled alive at his restaurant. The two share a close bond even in the short time they've been together. Due to Matt's knowledge of battling, he can tell that Shellder is quite powerful, with a large array of moves at its disposal such as Icicle Spear, Protect, Supersonic, Clamp and Surf. It has a Relaxed nature, just as Matt does.

Name: Brian Storm

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Description: 6 feet tall, middle length light brown hair. He's well built, not overly muscly but he has thickened out due to his training. He generally wears black jeans and a pinstriped black dress shirt, with white trainers.

History: Born in Blackthorn City, Brian was a popular guy with lots of friends yet he wasn't content with this life. He loved all of his friends, as they did him, but there was something that was missing from his life.

One day, as he was wandering around outside Mt. Silver he saw a distressed Larvitar hurtling out of the mountain cave, closely followed by an angry Graveler. Brian, without hesitating, threw himself in front of the Graveler and cocked his fists.

'S'have some then!' He said. He didn't really think his plan through as the Graveler had, by now, picked up quite a bit of momentum, and as it couldn't stop, Brian became victim to a high speed Rollout attack from the Graveler, sending him flying.

Nearby, a wild Ursaring was munching on some Beedrill honey, and when he heard Brian's cry as the Graveler collided with him, the Ursaring immediately looked around to see what was happening.

He saw Brian pick himself back up, quite clumsily, as he was in a world of pain. The Graveler charged at him once more, and Brian readied himself again. The Larvitar was now quite a way away and the Graveler's attention was now focused on Brian, so Brian had done his job in letting the little Larvitar get away. The Graveler charged again, even more viciously this time. He took out Brian's right leg with an earth shattering crack, and Brian collapsed in pain.

The Ursaring nearby was growing more and more interested in this fight, and as the Graveler had effectively rendered Brian immobile, it thought that the Graveler would leave the human boy alone, but the Graveler charged yet again. Deeming this as very cruel, as the Graveler charged again, the Ursaring ran over and intervened hitting the Graveler hard with a Brick Break, sending it flying over the horizon.

Thr Ursaring saw Brian was in pain, so it took him back to it's den to rest for a while. Thr Ursaring was very attentive and seemed fond of Brian, and obviously repected his courage to help a weaker person who was in need, a trait they both shared.

When Brian's leg had healed, the Ursaring took him back to Blackthorn City. Brian was infinitely grateful for the Ursaring's help, and he could tell that he had connected with this Pokemon more than any of his friends he had. He extended his hand to Ursaring, and the Ursaring took it and they both went back to Brian's house, and they've been inseparable ever since.

Since then, Brian has been training at Mt. Silver with his Ursaring and they have both been growing stronger. He also had the fortune to make friends with the Larvitar he saved, and over time with gradual training, it had evolved into a great Tyranitar.

Brian now had two huge and beastly Pokemon. The three of them wanted to meet others of their kind, and take the world by storm.
