Title: Summer Transfer Window
Post by: Liam on June 25, 2014, 14:10
How's the window looking for you guys?

For me, Fulham have made a couple of interesting signings in Adam Taggart from Newcastle jets and Tim Hoogland from Schalke. Good young attacking talent and experience at the back, what I like to see considering how many bloody players we've released for our season in champo next year.

Where will Suarez go after becoming a cannibal for the third time?

Chelsea have bought everyone, how will they do??

etc, etc..

Already signed Ayoze and Colback, still need a creative playmaker and two more forwards. Think we're missing out on Lasogga since he's going back to Hamburg. Gomis is joining Swansea. Debuchy misses the Champions League so he'll probs leave. Oh and Cabella's too good for us.

Gonna be a long summer =[

Looking forward to seeing how Diouf will do for us next season, not sure about Bardsley but he might be okay. Sidwell should be alright too.

Begovic being linked with clubs left, right and centre, rumours going around saying Real Madrid are prepping £15m for him. I'm hopeful that he'll stick around with us.

We've apparently had talks with a Barcelona player (Traore) for a season-long loan, but that's unlikely now it seems. Assaidi seems unlikely now as well. We've also been linked with Livorno's Paulinho.

Looks like we're getting our business done early in the transfer window for once!

We (Walsall) have picked up our usual free transfers.

Luke Shaw's gone to Man United. Hope he goes out on loan or he'll stunt his potential.

Shaw should rotate starting duties with Evra this season and then become first choice next season

EDIT: Sources in Spain are saying Suarez to Barcelona for £63m is done

Walsall have signed a striker. Thought I saw a pig fly yesterday afternoon.

Arsenal are primed to swoop on Alexis Sanchez. Big signing.

As in actually signed or another free signing? =P

Debuchy to Arsenal for £10m (rising to 12m) is pretty much done now, seen rumours of Daryl Janmaat being our preferred replacement (I think I'd want Aurier instead though)
Title: Re: Summer Transfer Window

Woops. Walsall getting £30m out for a striker would be nuts xD

£30m got me Hugo Lloris and Leighton Baines on FIFA in my fourth season.

crazy to think he was rated higher than Pedro back in the day

Liverpool have signed Can and Markovic and look set to bring in Origi (who'll go back to Lille) on loan for the season, some impressive signings tbh. Still, it won't replicate Suarez =[

Actually he left because of the club's failure to sign Iturbe who's joining Roma instead, he was his third choice pick too behind Sanchez and Cuadrado.

He'll probably just become Italy gaffer instead.

Balotelli back in the prem in an Arsenal shirt next season??

heard this for ages (mainly because Arsenal are now with Puma and Balotelli's with Puma) but it seems they might look elsewhere. I know Giroud gets a lot of stick but he's solid enough for them really. We'll see I guess.

James Rodriguez to Real Madrid, their team is gonna be so unreal. Big duty for Alonso and eventually Illara to play the holding role for them though haha

FFP hurts the smaller teams so much more. It'll make it even harder for someone to challenge Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain (think due to the signings that have happened Atletico will drop off this year =/)
Still, he'll be revealed at 7pm BST, signed for €80m.

OH WAIT!

to be fair it's European competitions too (which is why PSG are in trouble for it) but yeah, it's also why I completely get why we just buy abroad all the time too, I'd rather pay £10-12m than Zaha for £14m. Even the mid-table teams will find it hard to compete unless they've got a great academy (a-la Southampton) or whatnot. Teams like Crewe will be fine to an extent too.
Title: Re: Summer Transfer Window
Post by: Milsap on July 23, 2014, 14:22
We should be fine as well given our academy has produced some decent players in the past (Matty Fryatt, Troy Deeney, Anthony Gerrard, Jamie Paterson etc) and we have mostly local players in the team as its easier on the players and their families.

In fact, most of the current squad (including the gaffer) all went to the same school (Dartmouth High School, where Cat Deeley went... And my mum)

Edit: Eto'o and Messi in some playground-esque action.

With the money they've made from selling all those players, they can buy in some replacements easily.

If I was the Southampton owner I'd be wetting myself with laughter. No way is Shaw worth £30m. Hope he doesn't get wasted like Zaha has.

in this market whilst it's definitely a risk it may work out being a great signing for them. He's coming off a very impressive season whilst being such a young age and good full backs are really hard to come by. It's definitely a wait and see with it.

Lukaku is off to Everton for £28m. Good signing for them methinks.

it's okay, £28m is a lot though. Very surprised Everton forked out that much tbh.

not necessarily transfer news but interesting nonetheless (I'll make a 14/15 thread in a few weeks)

Lukaku's not a Mourinho player, apparently his training ethic is poor and he wanted to move away from Chelsea. Plus he didn't particularly end the season that well; he impressed me more the season before than last tbh. That being said, he could still be a huge player for Everton.

Title: Re: Summer Transfer Window
Post by: Spriter on August 01, 2014, 18:15
Yeah. It's not like we need him anyways. If we did get him, he'd most likely be like Michael Owen was for us -- not getting much game time. Hughes did that with both Guidetti and Owen, couldn't see Ronaldinho getting too much further than them, knowing Hughes.

That and he went to Man City where there are so many players that would be picked ahead of him. Why buy these players if you're not going to develop them? Zaha's lost out on development time as well.

That and he went to Man City where there are so many players that would be picked ahead of him. Why buy these players if you're not going to develop them?

Again, his development was halted moreso by injuries than flatout not being picked. When he was fit he was in the squad and had been given opportunities but then more signings came in to cover the position has he hadn't developed as planned. Whilst I don't like this approach City are able to do, in the Rodwell situation it's not their fault he hasn't developed.

Zaha's lost out on development time as well.

Moyes didn't like him and did send him out on loan. Really he should have spent a full season out on loan. He'll get more chances this year, although if Van Gaal uses 3-5-2 in the Prem it won't really suit him either
