James Rodriguez to Real Madrid, their team is gonna be so unreal. Big duty for Alonso and eventually Illara to play the holding role for them though haha

Real once again making a mockery of the FFP rules. Must be great having a bank on your side to keep wiping out your debts.

FFP hurts the smaller teams so much more. It'll make it even harder for someone to challenge Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain (think due to the signings that have happened Atletico will drop off this year =/)
Still, he'll be revealed at 7pm BST, signed for €80m.

I'm a supporter of one of these smaller teams and it's true. It's almost as if the Premier League is trying to make the gap between the top 20 and the rest of the clubs even greater.

OH WAIT!

to be fair it's European competitions too (which is why PSG are in trouble for it) but yeah, it's also why I completely get why we just buy abroad all the time too, I'd rather pay £10-12m than Zaha for £14m. Even the mid-table teams will find it hard to compete unless they've got a great academy (a-la Southampton) or whatnot. Teams like Crewe will be fine to an extent too.

We should be fine as well given our academy has produced some decent players in the past (Matty Fryatt, Troy Deeney, Anthony Gerrard, Jamie Paterson etc) and we have mostly local players in the team as its easier on the players and their families.

In fact, most of the current squad (including the gaffer) all went to the same school (Dartmouth High School, where Cat Deeley went... And my mum)

Edit: Eto'o and Messi in some playground-esque action.

Wow, Southampton are on the way to being like Blackpool, except they're getting lotta money from losing players.

And we got Bojan on a permanent too, woot.

If they hang on to Schneiderlin and Rodriguez they should be just about okay. Southampton's odds of being relegated are now the same as West Ham apparently O.o

With the money they've made from selling all those players, they can buy in some replacements easily.

If I was the Southampton owner I'd be wetting myself with laughter. No way is Shaw worth £30m. Hope he doesn't get wasted like Zaha has.

Lukaku is off to Everton for £28m. Good signing for them methinks.

in this market whilst it's definitely a risk it may work out being a great signing for them. He's coming off a very impressive season whilst being such a young age and good full backs are really hard to come by. It's definitely a wait and see with it.

it's okay, £28m is a lot though. Very surprised Everton forked out that much tbh.

not necessarily transfer news but interesting nonetheless (I'll make a 14/15 thread in a few weeks)

best kit ever right? =P

Wow, Lukaku's actually gone? I was really impressed with him last season, especially given that I'd say he outperformed all of chelsea's strikers. Thought he'd be in the team this year. Huh.

Lukaku's not a Mourinho player, apparently his training ethic is poor and he wanted to move away from Chelsea. Plus he didn't particularly end the season that well; he impressed me more the season before than last tbh. That being said, he could still be a huge player for Everton.
