Where has the time gone? I want to use this thread as a nostalgia thread of sorts, with some emphasis on my awesome legacy here, but with much emphasis on how most of us here have grown and what we're doing with our lives. It's almost an annual thread now, but it's one I hope you gys are looking forward to every year.
I'll make a bigger post later, because I have to print something out THEN do a mock presentation (I'm presenting some research I just did in Denver next week!) but I want to get the ball rolling with this thread.

my original account would be turning 10 years old in December, that's crazy to me. i feel hella old thinking that.
in 10 years i don't think i've really changed all that much (but maybe i have? i don't really remember young me). maybe i'm a bit more mean now but i dunno. i remember i used to want to be a writer like 10 years ago but i definitely don't any more haha. i don't feel anywhere near creative enough nowadays. i think i'm probably a lot more reserved nowadays as well. i used to post a fair amount back in the day (i don't think i ever got over like 1k posts total tho), but now i don't really post at all. i put that down to a lack of interests, since i won't post in stuff i don't really care about i guess, whereas back then i would've posted anyway probably.
i remember doing spriting and stuff, even tho i was always pretty bad at it. it was fun though so why not i guess. think i used to rp a bit as well, but i haven't had a reason to do it for a loooooooong time.
pkmn.net has been a fairly big part of my life for a long time, 2004-2009 this was like the only place i ever interacted with other people online on a regular basis, and all my online friends came from here, but then i got into streaming and stuff and the live chatting and stuff while watching video games was always more appealing to me i guess. still love coming here tho, even if i do just lurk and most of the people i were friends with back in the day aren't around as much/at all any more. i mostly fell out of touch with them anyway so i'm not too upset i guess. they were cool kids tho.
right now i'm at College doing a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in ICT which is cool i guess. the natural progression would be to go into an IT based job but in an ideal world I'd get to go into something related to eSports because that's my passion, so we'll see how that goes I guess.
these topics are always pretty great because i get reminded of stuff i'd forgotten about. looking forward to seeing what everyone else shares~
also muhed's legacy isn't awesome it's bad like him and all (almost) 20k of his posts l0l get bodied bud j/k ur hella cool

Still, cheers man. I'll have been on the site 3 years come July. You know a lot about the NFL, which is nice. I've also heard you're a competitive battler worth his salt, who almost beat Rich (which is a miracle in its own right). We have to have a battle sometime.

Umm my account was 2 years old on the 21st of December 2013. I'm a real veteran ;)
I guess I have changed quite a bit it two years though, when I first joined I was annoying as hell because I was just tryin'a be cool and failing miserably (still do).
Then I went through this stage when I used ^.^ on like every post.
It's still my favourite smiley but omg it is like never appropriate.
Now I'm just like.... um my usual ridiculous self.
As for what I was doing then and what I'm doing now.
When I joined I was 13 (almost 14) and that meant I was doing GCSEs - in that year I was doing History and Spanish. (I used to be good at Spanish haahaha what does hola even mean?)
Now I'm 17 and doing A-levels.
Technically I haven't changed all that much haha
It's hard for me to be nostalgic here but I wanted to join the party woop woop

Congrats though, Muhed! Man, it's crazy to think you've been here for 10 years! Time has gone by so quickly! I still remember the good ol' days when I looked to you and Raph to provide me with competitive battling knowledge. I think it was you that revealed the shocking secret that you can trade between Ruby and FireRed (I was a dumb kid okay), which meant I could raise Blaziken on FireRed and that meant a lot to me for some reason.
And if it means anything at all, I bet Muhed would still kick my ass if we played competitive 3rd gen!
I'm going on 9 years myself, so next year I get to make one of these topics and shoot the confetti shotgun and what have you. I've changed a lot since then, and a fair amount of that change has to do with this forum's members. I'm not quite as stubborn, not quite as clueless, and not quite as ~dark and mysterious~ (read: immature and stupid) as I was. I've got more to say, but I'll save that for when I make one of these topics next year. This is a day to celebrate Muhed's legacy!
Congrats again man. Here's to hopefully another 10 years!

It is funny to think... Joined this website nearly 9 years ago, being 9 years old. I remember my dad looking at this website to decide if it was appropriate and he only told me I wasnt allowed to post in random randomness, and I created my account with him. I started role playing almost right away, and got hooked on PUK. I remember when I was like 10 I got my signature disabled and I was crying so hard because I didnt know what I did, so my dad sent an email to joeno to ask what happened xD
I just have these vivid memories of getting home from school, and getting right on here and role playing like crazy.
I still remember how hurt I felt when a user named glenwing told me to "crawl in a corner and die in the nicest way possible"
... And I just figured out what college ill be attending next year. Makes you realize how fast time really goes.

When I joined I was a socially awkward 13 year old who liked pokemon and green day, that hasn't changed lmao.
I got into spriting and did that for a while before going on to irc. I lived on #sp from 2008 - 2010 and that spawned various injokes like Bob, quoot, EXPOLODE and other stuff <3 did so many weird requests like custom trainers for Jamie from two pints of lager and one for John from Superjail. Also the castform with a bra for SR. Started drawing more in 2009, have gotten better or so I'd like to think aha. I rpd for a while too, remember Loz's within the within beyond the beyond and you are special. Also thauxan with its crazy page numbers and sequels.
I remember soooo much stuff from over the years, it's crazy how big a part of my teenage years this place was..
I deleted my account in 2011 but came back after like 2 months lol.
I'm now 20 and studying a design hnd. Still doing something arty after all those years!

I remember talking about how close in age we were! when do you turn 18, the 3rd or something? I remember we were only like 10 days apart.

On emerald type BAB. Then a box should come up saying 'Bab? Oh you must mean Bob!' Then a guy named Bob will fall from the celing, And then talk to him. He says, 'Hey, I'm gonna zap you with my SUPER LAZER POWER!' you get a chioce of yes or no. If yes, He will say 'Okay.' And fry you. If you say no, He'll turn you into a chicken. Theres two parts depending on which anser you took.
If you said yes...
Bob will steal all of you pokemon. Fromk your P.C and everything. Then you'll be on a quest to find him. You see other fried people as you walk around. If you talk to them, they should say, 'Ugh.. Cow..' Go to Lilycove city. Every trainer should be fried, Except one. This person was a chicken. The chicken goes 'Bucak!' And you stare at it. You haven't eaten in days.. So you chase after the chicken. The chicken should run inside of the pokemon center. Something is wrong. Everyone it muttering 'Ugh.. Cow..' like they should, besides the chicken. Nurse Joy should be standing there. 'Hello.' She says. But wait a second, Her voice sounds manly! You pull of her costume, and Bob should be under it. He will say, Muahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Non-stop, then you get a choise, to punch him in the face, or let him laugh. If you punch him in the face and he will drop all the pokeball, containing trainers pokemon. You can steal them or give them back. If you steal them, you will join team Rocket. If you give them back, then every one will like you, and pay you money everyday. If you let him laugh, and continue this for about an hour, He should cough his lungs out, and you can choose whether to steal them, or give them back.
If you pick No....
He will turn you into a chicken. Some trainer will wake up, and find you hiding in Lilycove. He will chase you everywhere, so run into the pokemon center, and he'll stop. Perch atop a fried person, and he'll ignore you. He'll have a long 1 hour talk. then he'll punch the guy in the face, He will try to steal the pokemon, but you chase him off, and discover, you too, have freing powers! So you fry him. You will turn into a delibird, and give all the pokemon back to everyone. They will all say, 'Ohh! A fling co- I mean, chicken!' Then while your, fling, you like being a delibird. Then, you turn back human. You fall, from the sky, And hurt yourself. Bad. Then save it, and buy a DS lite, then put in you emerald. (Don't really try this.) You will find it doesn't fit all the way. So you jam it in. You hear a snap. Turn on you emerald, and you'll have a Delibird stone! Use it and turn into a delibird!

I've been through so many friends on this site though... I remember the days where I'd get adorable PMs from DragonairSoul (like that superadorable cheer!)
Also I would get adorable PMs from Kay and me and Jess would get into wars on the Pokémon Vote-Off thread and and and I remember the DJ Webby Webb thread (WHO WANTS TO JOIN WEBBY'S AWESOME BAND!?) and the thread someone made to justify why they should be the person to marry me
I still remember MSN conversations (yes, MSN!) with Mark, Dane, Kristian, Mike and maybe a few other people
Mainly the ones with Mark (Toaster Swinub, Huntail! at the Disco, Apprentice contestants destroying cities with their bright, bright blue eyes)

I've almost been here for 10 years on this account. Pretty strange to think about what's happened in those 10 years, I used to actually PM people on this website closer to the start. I even had one of my best friends here at some point too.
Used to be really into spriting and at one point, I was part of a roleplay thing that did really well for itself... not sure if I created it either. Nowadays I just post once or twice a day on Randomness.
I remember coming on in the morning when I was young and waiting for my friend to come on so that we could find out what time we would go out to play Pokemon Fire Red or Beyblades and stuff.
Good memories attached to what this site was.

I also remember specifically saying that I was disappointed in Hawkeye having a life outside of the internet, because of how infrequently I thought he was responding to requests on SFA.... That acronym itself omg. I haven't been spriting as much as I'd like, either ;;' But yeah... I guess I'd have a teenage account if the 10+ year old accounts are adults? 8 years, yeah!

Previous account included, I joined just under nine years ago, crikey...
I was 9 when I created my first account but I only really made an account because the website told me to, I didn't quite understand the concept of a forum. I made a new one when I was 11 and got into spriting. I think it was the PKMN Hokage or someone who taught me how to do it and I made crappy little animations on Microsoft GIF Animator. I used the main site for tips on how to play Pokémon Silver (which I still think is the best Pokémon game ever made).
It got me into the whole "internet community" thing, and I can remember spending very late nights on IRC doing quizzes and talking about random things. I remember a whole rivalry with some guy called Mik and I can also remember being a really obnoxious, pretentious ass, whoops.
I broke my laptop when I was 13 and didn't get a new one until last year, so in the interim I ended up using the desktop which was more censored than North Korea and so consequently my activity level just totally fell off and I never really got back into it... by the time I came back I had sort of grown out of Pokémon and my lack of funds have meant I haven't been able to keep up with buying the consoles and games since B/W.
I remember my sort of forum friends were Liam, JSM, Inferna, Mizz, and that sort of arty crowd over at Sprite Fan Art, but I am sure I've missed a couple of people off.
As for me now I like to think I've become less irritating and it was PKMN.NET that made me interested in computers and got me properly computer literate. And made me move away from txtspeak and that kind of thing. I'm in my last year of secondary school and have just got a place at Oxford University in October to study Classics.
It's really cool to see some of the "old guard" here, and I can't believe I've spent nearly a decade visiting this site...

I was a right idiot back then, but hey ho I changed.
I'm almost at the end of high school, contrary to when I joined as I had barely started. So glad that it's almost over!
That's all that's happened since I joined. I just grew and became a Year 11 GCSE student. Yay.

Back when I was active all the time it was always people like Mike, Rex, Turner, Kay, CS10 and Lottie around (it's been so long that I can remember most of their first names but not their usernames, that's strange) and then everyone from the Spriting boards. It's kinda sad that that's all gone now...

I was 14 when I joined. Just hitting puberty. Man, let's not go there.

I remember a time when getting PMs was a big deal, lol. I used to PM Mikey a lot about spiriting... sorry man, I dunno if you're still around... had a numel sprite for a long while... don't remember the username :s;
And Rex. Rex was pretty much centre of the social scene iirc. Tbh, Rex used to scare me a bit he was so popular P:

Sadly Viggy left a few years back (4+ - I'm surprised it was that long ago) due to some drama that's long dead.
I know some people said I still shouldn't care about this but I honestly blame myself quite a bit for the inactivity of these boards; seemed like a bit of a snowball effect from that nonsense that went on 4-5 years back. There was definitely a better way to speak up about issues in the forum more than the sensationalized crap I used to pull off and say, and there's definitely a time, a place, and a tact to be used. I think that made people feel like they're walking on eggshells (especially after a few other crazy events happened) and ultimately leave as a result.

Most of the people I see when I lurk (ever more sporadically unfortunately, no time with work and all) are all new to me. Is this the curse of aging? lol
This account turns 10 years old in a few weeks. My, how time has gone by. I just started playing the third generation when I joined the forums. Shocking to think that that was more than a decade ago. And boy have the forums changed drastically (though I swear to god it's still been using this same red color for years now, whatever happened to the l33t skin? That was bad ass.)
Good times. Good times. (I remember when O0 this smiley was first placed here lol)
