Say Hello! / A facepalm for the ages (a re-intro thread)
« on: December 04, 2017, 20:35 »
Soooo....I wanted to come back ages ago but forgot my password and only just remembered it today >.>

To those of you who don't know me, I'm Legacy. I was a mainstay of the RP board and ventured into the competitive battling scene in Gen V.

To those of you who do know/remember me, hey there! It's been...far, FAR too long.

Role Play / [P][Ad][Fu]When Nuzlocke Reigns[J]
« on: January 05, 2015, 22:22 »
Sootopolis, Hoenn - Jan 5th 2025, 8:25PM

Two figures lay slumped over a table in the candelit surrounds of Origin Cave, their heads rested on their arms as they interlocked their fingers. The figure on the right side of the table was dressed in all black, the most noticeable of his attire being his long black coat. Even despite the dim lighting it was clear that his hair was jet black and kept fairly short when compared to the figure on the opposite side. This second figure was slimmer, more feminine, and wore far more outlandish clothing with mixtures of purples and yellows, reds and varying shades of grey with her equally jet-black hair reaching down probably to her waist or below. As the two figures lay silent, seemingly lifeless, anyone who would enter would feel an obvious weight in the air around the pair; a heavy air of concentration as if they were focusing intently on something unbeknownst to the general population. In truth this was exactly what they were doing. Focusing on a certain point, a location in the region of Hoenn that often let things slip through. These things did not belong, nor did they intentionally break through the barriers. No. They were pulled through.

Suddenly the two figures jolted upright, their eyes meeting immediately. "They're coming..." the female said softly. The male nodded in response, getting to his feet and gripping the hilt of a sword that was laid beside him. "We need to get to them...before they do..." he replied. As he raised the sword from the ground, two other figures began to move. One was more canine in appearance, it's black and gray fur made visible by the faint candlelight. The second figure was more feline, pink and white in colour as if mirroring the contrast between the clothing the two humans wore. The female figure now got to her feet, gripping her own blade as she followed suit.

Time was of the essence as the pair quickly set out for their destination and their mission...

--------------------------

It is the year 2025 in the Hoenn region and all is not well. After years of 'Nuzlockers' changing the rules of their 'games' the Pokemon World has begun to crumble and gaps between the world and the land of the 'Players' has weakened to the point of virtual collapse. Players are pulled into the Pokemon World, a world now rampant and tortured under the rule of 'Nuzlocke' where they must adapt to their own restrictions and rules or perish. Literally.

As one of the new batch of 'Players' pulled from our world you find yourself laid upon a beach that you've never been to, yet seems to be oddly familiar. Where are you? Why are you here? And what the hell is that eerie light glowing from the cliffs above you? You will find out soon enough...

--------------------

Rules
All PKMN.net rules apply, but I will particularly mention a few to make sure they are followed.

- PG-13; this means no swearing, obscenity etc. Mild cusses such as hell, damn and crap are allowed but use your brain a little and don't use them every other word.

- Be respectful; we're all here to enjoy the RPing experience. If you're a good, experienced roleplayer then be patient with those who are less experienced. If you are an inexperienced roleplayer then listen to any advice given to you, as it is usually meant to help you. Lastly, regardless of experience, respect each other as human beings and members of this site.

- RP in the 3rd person; use terms such as 'he/she' and 'they' rather than 'I' or 'We'. You play as a character (even if that character is based off of yourself) so therefore you'd roleplay in the third person.

- Do not time/scene jump; unless permission is given by myself, PLEASE don't time-skip or jump away from the scene. By all means go to another room in a house (if we're in a house), but don't leave the location the RP is in unless you have VERY good reason and/or permission to do so.

- Try to refrain from mega-posting; I know how easy it is to RP with one other person and post a million-and-one posts with just that person in the space of an hour, but try to refrain from going overboard with it. If you and the other poster have posted 5 times each without another post, that's usually a good time to stop and wait for others to post their input and catch up.

Role Play / [J]They All Fall Down...again[Re/F][R]
« on: March 08, 2013, 23:53 »
It was the end of the school day, and all the kids were headed home, walking through the busy city streets. To most of them, today would be no different. But to some this would be a day they would never forget. One such student was a girl, one of the older students of the local school. Her world was about to be turned upside down, and the reason was walking just metres behind her.

This wasn't the first time he'd had to get involved in this girl's life. It certainly wasn't going to be his last either. The young man, looking no older than his late teens, walked behind the girl who looked to be about his age, maybe a little younger. The reason was soon exposed, as the girl stepped out into the busy road before her, not realising that a car was hurtling towards her. The young man sighed and stepped forward, pushing the girl clear of the vehicle.

He made one fatal mistake...Guardian Angels aren't supposed to give their own lives to save a human.

As the young man came to, he found himself surrounded by people for the first time in his life, one of which was the girl he'd just saved. As he began to lose conciousness again, the questions ran through his head; how could they see him? How did he end up in such a mess, when he was supposedly immortal? All these questions were met by one answer;

"I gave my immortality for her...and became human..."

PLOT:
It's the end of the day, and people are finally able to return home from work/school. On the way home however, a select few end up in what SHOULD have been a fatal accident. Instead, they find themselves saved by a mysterious stranger who witnesses claim quite literally 'came from nowhere'.

Humans:

While recovering, they reveal their identity; your saviour is your own guardian angel who, whether accidently or not, gave their immortality and angel status to save your life. Being indebted, you humans must now find somewhere for the former angels to live, and protect them from the threats of both your world and the possibility of a threat from beyond.

Note: Human Characters may know one another from around the city (school, work place etc.)

Ex-Angels:

Having saved the human you were tasked with for their entire life, you find yourself injured beyond anything you've ever felt before (simply because you've never been hurt before). Realising you've lost your immortality, and that humans are now capable of seeing you, you must adapt to the lifestyle of the people you were charged with taking care of. And with the threat of your disposal lingering above your head, it appears the tables have completely turned.

Note: Ex-Angels will recognise one another as an Ex-Angel, since all Guardian Angels in the city know one another in some way.

RULES:
- No Limelighting except in your starter post.
- No God-Modding* as it is unfair on the original user of the character you're controlling.
- Romance is obviously allowed (hence the [R] tag) but try to be reasonable on those reading this topic. Nothing overly graphic (hugging and kissing are more than fine). If you want your romance to go further (with permission from the other roleplayer) do a mini-timeskip for your characters only, ensuring minimal details (preferably no details) are given as to what happened during the timeskip.
- Violence is allowed to a certain degree, since there is likely to be fighting involved due to the Ex-Angels trying to survive. But like the above rule, don't be too graphic. Leave gore out of the posts, adding only the essential details.
- Maximum of two characters are allowed per person; One human, one Ex-Angel.
- After your starter post, all characters must be at the hospital with their guardian angel.

*God-Modding is controlling another person's character for your own personal gain. The only time this is allowed is if the other roleplayer posts ON THIS TOPIC saying that they allow you to control their character.

Older Main Games / Nathan's Soulsilver Nuzlocke Challenge
« on: February 19, 2012, 15:02 »
This will be my first Nuzlocke challenge, and was inspired by Tim and Rich with their B/W Challenge, so credits to them for me starting my own challenge. This thread will be a diary of my successes and indeed of my struggles as I step into the world of Nuzlocke. The Nuzlocke Conditions are as follows:

- Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released.
- The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances.
- All Pokemon must be nicknamed, thus creating more of a bond.
- The starter Pokemon must be with you at all times. If it ever faints, you die of heartbreak.
- Considering a black out/white out to be "game over," even if there are Pokémon left in the PC.
- Going to options and making the battle style "set". Making you unable to switch out between your foes' Pokémon.
- No catching/using of legendaries.
- Upon reaching Kanto (excluding the Pokemon League) you must build a new team starting with just your starter. Your Johto team cannot enter Kanto and vice-versa. The sole exceptions are when in the Pokemon League and at Mt. Silver.

PROLOGUE

Being a trainer was always something I strived to be. Watching everybody my age leaving to train their Totodile's, Chikorita's and Cyndaquil's among others...needless to say it was kind of hard to watch. Fortunately I wasn't alone in New Bark Town. My best friend Blake had the same problem - very strict parents.

However they couldn't stop us when we were 18.  Blake came to my house, buzzing with excitement about how he was going to get a pokemon. He'd somehow convinced his father to take him to Cherrygrove City to collect a new pokemon. Of course, I was invited. It was a pretty awesome journey on the way there. Sheer excitement and enthusiasm. Who knew that might be the last time we had that connection...

Upon arrival Blake decided to reveal something to me; he'd already gotten his pokemon. I stood in awe as he revealed the small, peach-coloured pokemon with the green leaf. A Chikorita. Lucky bugger. But then he told me how he got it...the dirty rat. I'd never have expected it...

Blake had stolen the Chikorita from Professor Elms Laboratory...he'd asked his father to drive us along to Cherrygrove so that he wouldn't be caught. In my disgust I tried to convince my friend to go back, but he wouldn't listen. He just got so agitated that he turned his back on me and left on towards the next city...needless to say I was upset. My old friend had changed...in his desperation to be a trainer he'd taken the dark route.

As I turned to walk away I found myself walking into something. Or rather, someONE. It was an elderly looking man, his face dirtied so it was impossible to see where the wrinkles ended and the dirt marks started. I apologised and was about to walk around the man, but he put his arm out to stop me. "C-can I help you sir?" What did an old man want with a teenager like myself?

"I saw all of that...your friend...you want to help him don't you? I don't need your help...but I can help you with your problem." As I looked at the man I felt a chill run down my spine. His eyes seemed to drill into mine and through to my very heart, piercing it, inspecting every minor detail. What did he mean 'help me'? My question was soon answered, as he held out a small white item. An egg. My heart skipped a beat - although even now I'm unsure if that was out of excitement, shock, or fear. "If you want to help your friend...you will need to follow him and accept what troubles will await you. I have offered you my assistance. Now I must ask if what you feel in your heart is the same as what you feel in your mind. Are you ready to face your friend and save him before he loses all sense?"

It was a tough question...I guess I never thought of pokemon training in such a way...I always thought it was an easy path. I never considered there to be a serious reason for doing so. After mulling it over I nodded. Blake clearly needed help...and only I could help him. I turned to pull my wallet from my pocket, but as soon as I'd turned to face the man again he'd gone. Looking down I saw a small white card on the floor with just one word: Nuzlocke. I pocketed the card, hoping to have somebody explain it in the future. But for now I had to try to catch up to my friend. This is where my journey began...

CHAPTER 1 - First Steps

- A female Buizel hatched from the egg. Her little face deserves an elegant name, so I've named her Florence. She seems to have gotten the hang of battling already, but would still much rather play in the waters edge in Cherrygrove City. I guess it's good to have a playful pokemon since it means they're happy and comfortable.

- I took a glance back at New Bark Town. It's chaotic there because of the theft, so I didn't stay for very long. I spoke to my mother about what I was doing, and we agreed that I'd send some money to her to fall back on if I needed it. As I left New Bark Town I was jumped upon by a Pidgey. It was pretty easy to capture thanks to Florence's help. I've named him Peter. He's pretty agile much like Florence, and the two get along well.

- Surprisingly there were no other battles until I reached Cherrygrove. I healed up quickly then decided to step out to Route 30 to see what was there. Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention and knocked a Kakuna to the ground. But given how it only knew Harden, it wasn't a disaster. I decided to capture it, since I feel he could be useful later. I've named him Kyle. Unsurprisingly he doesn't move much, but hopefully he'll become more agile and powerful later. He seems happy allowing Peter and Florence to roll him between themselves for some reason.

- After some training at Route 29, Florence was beginning to grow impatient. So we headed off up towards Violet City. So far the trainers here have been easily dispatched. Probably demoralised by Blake already. Florence is surprisingly cheery. She's got me smiling at least, that's the important thing.

- Finally arrived in Violet City and we'll be taking some well deserved rest. Florence is still bouncing about but Peter and Kyle seem to be needing a nap. It's a case of the needs of the many outweigh the wants of the few, so Florence is gonna have to deal with that.

Florence - Level 7

- Water Gun
-Water Spout
-Quick Attack
- Pursuit

Peter - Level 8

- Tackle
- Sand Attack

Kyle - Level 7

- Harden

Character Guides / Nathanial 'Nathan' Maynard
« on: July 24, 2010, 13:58 »
Name:
Nathanial 'Nathan'  Maynard

Age:
18

Gender:
Male

Description:

Nathan stands at an overall height of 6'3" tall, and is incredibly skinny for his age, weighing just 10stone (140lbs). His dark brown hair reaches just below his shoulders (although he often wears it in a small low ponytail) and his fringe just about covers his deep, ocean blue eyes. His skin is incredibly pale most of the time, and even when he manages to tan, it doesn't make him look all that much darker. He makes up for his paleness with his clothing, opting to wear one of his three black hooded jumpers over the top of a black t-shirt, and a pair of dark blue or black skinny jeans, which just about cover the very top of his black trainers. On either wrist, he wears a black wristband, with a purple hairband above either one in case the one in his hair breaks. He is almost always seen with a black messenger bag over his shoulder, which holds all of his items he gets along with some personal items, including a notpad and pen.

Personality:
Nathan is generally a calm, contented guy, who is friendly to everyone he meets, so long as they are generally friendly in return. He has a tendency to mutter to himself, then write in his notepad completely randomly, and is usually unaware he's even doing it.

Although he is relatively friendly, and incredibly approachable, it is best to leave him be if he's upset or angered. The reason being, he will either hide away and ignore, or simply yell abuse in an attempt to be alone. For these reasons, it is best to leave him until he has calmed himself.

Key things to remember about Nathan are that he is very much the perfectionist, and would often much rather take things slowly and get things done properly, than rush around and mess things up. However he is oddly impatient as well, and he frequently argues with himself over whether or not to take things slow. Of course it all depends on the situation at hand.

History:
Born in Pacifidlog, Hoenn, Nathan was expected to be a surfer just like his parents were, and for many years, he was forced to follow that path. Life was pretty much dull for him until he reached 12, and found a small Pikachu in the water outside of his home. He took it in as his own Pokemon and nurtured it back to health. It was during this time that he found his true passion for music, and much to his parent's dismay, he quit surfing altogether to follow his dream. On his 14th birthday, his Uncle came to visit, and the sailor offered to take Nathan to live with him in Lilycove, where he could focus more on his music. Nathan promptly agreed, packing his things, and taking his Pikachu (now named Shock) with him, he started a fresh new life in Lilycove. He spent most of his time playing guitar and singing around the city and on his Uncle's boat, and during his breaks he would go to the local cafe, and battle the trainers there to pass the time. It wasn't until recently that he decided to take Pokemon training seriously, and begin to journey away from music for a while.
