You sniped me, pig.

Well, other than Rockster, for a shrimp prevo, I'd think of Shrimpnel, which is Shrimp + Shrapnel, usually a metal chunk flying from an explosion, as well as a solid bullet, so the name holds Steel-typing. That is if we're so focused on a Shrimp Pokémon.

But wouldn't the first evo be pure water, usually?

Not necessarily and I wouldn't say usually, unless you mean Mudkip, which is understandable, since it's a starter and those are, in fact, usually single-typed to begin with. I was deciding on something Water/Steel; however, pure water could also be decided upon, why not? As long as it's nothing generally plain namewise, since that's most of what we need so far. For a pure water-type, the name should include something other than a word that would refer to its typing, perhaps one that refers to its other qualities, such as its physiology or behavior.

Yeah, I thought it would be:

Water-> Wtaer/Steel -> Wtaer/Steel

As the only starter to not fit that is Bulbasaur. Steel also wouldn't work on stage one due to it making a neutrality to fire, which would break the triangle at stage one. If that doesn't matter, then sure  ;)

But this doesn't necessarily have to be a starter, though there was a mention, as always. ;)

And even if it is, Fire and Grass could always be paired up with a second type to set up neutralities there, at least, to make it look even.

Bulbasaur is the only dual-typed, basic-stage starter, and if we're hoping for CJ's idea to be a starter, we're only encouraged to have the Pokémon follow in Bulbasaur's footsteps and bear dual-types also at basic stage.

Well, here one idea. It's from a topic I created, but hasn't been replied to. So I'll make some good use of my (lack of) imagination.

My Pokemon:

Name: Keyzer

Speicies: Key

Ability: Sturdy

Type: Steel

Description: Two allen keys that are somehow attached to each other which act as arms. At the center is a head made of steel. It can somehow hover through the air. One swings of it's arms will cause serious damage!

This is as about as creative as I'm gonna get!  ;)
