Bullying problem
« on: August 16, 2013, 03:34 »
Bullying is getting way out of hand. It's becoming a real problem.Bullying is not even close to being cool.We need to keep everyone safe from this.If you've ever been bullied in your life, please try to prevent it if you see it.Seriously.I think Americas not safe.Bullies could become the new Adolf Hitler.I never thought this could become a teenage problem too.But it is.We need to keep the world safe.If you see bullying happen or about to happen,Prevent it.It's a really big deal.If you've ever been a bully, never be one again. It can cause serious problems.Anyone agree?

Bullying is actually better than it used to be, surprisingly.  Just more publicized.

Liam you'd be surprised at how often that doesn't necessarily work.  You definitely should do it, that way once you complain to the superintendent the principles/teachers get in trouble too.

It's a shame that it doesn't always work, but often it's a good place to start at the very least. They have a duty to protect you and assuming you have a good support system around you something should be done.

usually their "support system" is telling the bully that you grassed them up and asking them to stop being mean
from what ive heard this is the "support system" in a majority of schools

I'm interested to know what you're basing this on. I'm not picking a fight, it's a genuine question!

I wouldn't be able to speak for everyone, considering my school had quite a good policy on bullying. What I am saying is that in my opinion it's better to say something rather than do nothing about. I think saying that the "majority of schools" have a policy of just telling the bully to stop being mean is exaggerated.

Are you like 10 or something?  lol

I'm interested to know what you're basing this on. I'm not picking a fight, it's a genuine question!
The fact that bullies used to be more vicious back in ye olden days for even more reasons than before.  In the US at least, people really didn't like integration and it did lead to all sorts of violence.  Homophobia was far more prevalent back then, and general cruelty and racism were greater in general.  People were also told by their parents to fight back in school before it became outlawed by US law (now you get suspended for fighting).  Fights were more popular back in my middle school days too, but my high school days barely had any.

It's way easier to bully online nowadays and it's way easier to hang yourself than it used to be, so you hear more reports of suicides and whatnot.  The consequences are more extreme but it seems like that kids have found different reasons to bully and it just happens in smaller doses.  But the standard old "stalk people on their way home and beat the crap out of them eventually" doesn't occur nowadays.  The suicide rate may or may not be as high, but it only really backs up that bullying isn't nearly as vicious and cruel as it used to be, the consequences are just far worse which is a result of a generation that places less value on bullying.  I know that attitudes changed completely between when I was in elementary/middle school and when I was in high school; the former gave more of an actual elem/middle school feel you'd see on those 80s/90s TV shows, and the latter gave a much much different feel.

How am I supposed to feed on children's tears if I can't bully them? I got warned about hanging around at funerals.
