Like everyone, there's a very popular franchise I haven't tried....until now. For some reason I have never even played a Zelda game before, but I'm looking to change that. Where should I start? Chronologically? I understand the games can be played reasonably separately but I want to really give the whole franchise a try. I have NES, SNES, GBC etc. etc. and I'm willing to play them in their original glory. I'm also not against trying a newer remake if anyone thinks it's a better idea?
What are some well known series of games that you just never tried despite them being hailed as classics

If you want to try a 2D Zelda first, try either Link's Awakening or Link to the Past. If it's 3D Links you want to play first, then you can't go wrong with Ocarina of Time (N64 and 3DS versions are both great, but to me the 3D on the 3DS port only just beats the N64 original).
As for me, probably most FPS franchises. They're just so many these days.... 0_0

i never got into LoZ either tbh
i played windwaker but i couldnt get past a certain point and my heart wasnt really in it at all to begin with

i guess really the only franchise i got into was pokemon and kingdom hearts? the latter only happened this year though, everyone else went through KH when they were fricken 12 or something hahaha.

Ocarina of Time 3D. PLEEEASEEE FOR ME? Q~Q
...I mean... yes, I think you'll like that one. A lot. It's my favorite game of all time. You should play it. c:

A Link to the Past or Link's Awakening is good
from there, go ocarina of time -> majora's mask -> wind waker -> twilight princess -> skyward sword
i havent played the DS ones, didn't like many of the GB ones in retrospect, haven't played Minish cap... in fact the ones i've played are the ones above (minus majora's mask, which is easily the darkest zelda game)

Phantom Hourglass for DS was good, but Spirit Tracks was just awful. I'd never recommend anyone play Spirit Tracks.

Link's Awakening is my favourite and I think everyone ought to play it buuuuuuuuuuuut I guess Ocarina is the one everyone goes for. I also love Wind Waker and if it wasn't for the Triforce hunt at the end it'd be pretty much perfect imo.
Phantom Hourglass is terrible and I barely touched Spirit Tracks. :/

And as you can tell, opinions on the DS games are mixed. I generally enjoyed them, but there are those that despise them. ^^;
Not a good place to start, but maybe worth a look after you get into Zelda more...

The Oracle of Ages and Seasons games were very good. The music they had were excellent and had layers you could distingush with ease and seemed advanced for 8 bit. My favorite dungeon music from those two games are Dancing Dragon Dungeon, Crown Dungeon, Moonlit Grotto, Ancient Ruins, and Ancient Tomb.

Never bothered with Zelda, never really bothered with Resident Evil either, I just helped my dad do some of the bosses.
Never bothered with, Street Fighter or Persona either.
Persona actually looks pretty bad from what I remember, no offence to anyone.

I have never been into the Lord of the Rings movies nor do I want to see them or read the books. The series just doesn't seem to stir interest in me. I honestly prefer Harry Potter more.

Zelda 2: Link's Adventure.
No, really.
Ok jk lol IMHO the ONLY ones worth playing are The Legend Of Zelda(first one), A Link To The Past, Ocarina Of Time, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, i think all the other ones are garbage. And it shouldn't really matter where you start out of thar selection because they're ALL AMAZING, just do humanity a favor and never, i say N E V E R play Zelda 2: Link's Adventure, its worse than ALL of the other bad ones covered in a pile of puke.

Phantom Hourglass was pretty good
I personally didn't like skyward sword though

I hadn't played Fire Emblem until I got the demo for Awakening a few weeks ago. I immediately started The Sacred Stones afterwards (which I had got with the Ambassador Project), and recently bought Awakening. They are excellent games.
