Your Art / Me and my Pokemon Go buddy
« on: September 17, 2016, 20:49 »

Sorry I haven't posted much in awhile. Hopefully that changes soon

Any who...

This is a pic of me and my Oddish.

I did this pic for another website where we had to draw our pokemon buddy for the new buddy system in Pokemon Go.
It was a pretty fun challenge and I tried my best to give the pic personality.
Can't wait til' 2nd Gen comes and I can evolve my Oddish into Bellossom.

I'm very quickly becoming a fan of your art. Another great drawing. Well done!

I'm very flattered! I hope to keep impressing you!

That's an amazing drawing! Great job! :)

Thank you!

Looks really good! Group pictures are always fun, though also kinda hard.

Also, go team Valor!

Yes! You know the pain of drawing groups! Everyone has to be equal in perspective, everyone's pose needs to fit in with the others, a nice equal distance from each other, all have to share the environment, one can't stand out too much from the others! It was my greatest challenge, but also a shining achievement!

So Pokemon Go has finally hit the states and boy has it flooded the whole nation! Not sure about the rest of the world, but I hope so!

3 teams you have to choose from: Valor, Mystic, Instinct.

Mystic is the blue team, and they have Articuno to represent them.

I'm on team Valor, but I like to picture the Squirtle Squad being on a more "blue" kind of team :)

Thank you!

I'll try and see if I can redo that Blaziken, because I feel like I can do something similar with him like I did with Emboar.

My third and final set of fighting type pokemon. Thought I'd put the final one in a new topic sense I didn't want it to be sent to a 2nd page in the first topic.

I guess from here on out, i'll draw more pokemon, that don't have to be fighting types.

Not sure what's on my mind next. May inspiration take my hand!

Was I too obvious on that?

Lol, oh I'm sure it was just a lucky guess :)

I'll be honest, i'd probably crucify you if you messed blaziken up but you did well. The shading is a bit iffy but what you tried to go for is hard to do so it's to be expected with pretty much everyone. I can't draw so feel free to take my opinions with a grain of salt. xD

Don't sweat it! I like to here everyone's opinion. Anyone can have an eye for things.

Honestly, I should have looked up more references for that type of shading with Blaziken. Not going to lie, I kinda thought of how you would respond, sense I can guess you are a Blaziken fan. Definitely didn't want to mess it up.

My next set of fighting type pokemon. Hopefully I get the other set drawn soon.

-Hitmonchan has a fedora. That's because that's how I like to view him if he were ever my pokemon. I have a story for that, which I might tell someday. I nicknamed him Cracker Jack.

-Forgive me if Blaziken's lighting looks wierd. His light source is his fire, and it seemed very hard to pull off the shading.

Your Art / Fighting Types

I've been playing Street Fighter a lot recently, and suddenly felt inspired to do a select roster of all the fighting types me and my friends have. I want to make a big project where I draw each one on a single sheet of paper, but so far, I've been drawing individual samples. They looked pretty good for samples in my opinion, so I thought "why not post em'?"

I'll be drawing more, and each collage will have 5 pokemon.

*Some notes*
-I used a an editing effect on my Galaxy called, "Vintage", to darken up the tones. Gives it that nice serious look! :)

-Poliwrath is wearing a bandanna on his head, and has a sailor tattoo on his arm. I dunno' I thought it looked cool.

-Hawlucha's eyes weren't drawn in. I thought it'd make the pic more interesting. Batman and other similar characters have this mask effect too; kind of the inspiration.

-Scrafty was the first one drawn (I fear I may have made his head oddly shaped), and at that time I added red to his head. Medicham, and Hawlucha contain red too, but I decided not to do it to them for these samples. I might give it ago on the final project.

a little off topic but woah sizacu that orange text is unreadably bright

a little more on topic, the female's legs seem really short and i cant see any knees. something about the arm/elbow area seems a little off anatomy wise, too. i think her forearm is too short and the arm itself is in an awkward position (a little) which throws the whole thing off, maybe? her eye and hair are great though. i like how you draw clothes too

i cant see the knees on the guy either but he's got baggier pants and theyre drooping in a way that lets him get away with it a bit more. like siz said, swampert's looking a little wonky in places (top of the arms and chest area if you're looking for specifics). i do like the 'thicker outlines' on the guy though - it lends it a nice style. (that and the minimalistic coloring makes the entire work more recognisable in an artistic way). also that umbreon is gorgeous

EDIT: sorry you commented before me so my comment is a lil dated already hah :<

Yeah, anatomy is something I deeply need to work on. Plus, when I make mistakes after putting a few hours on a character, its usually such a hassle to completely redraw a limb correctly. I guess that has more to do with my laziness than anything else :(

Knees. yeah, i have yet to learn to draw them properly. Legs are a tough chore for some reason. almost like fingers are to some people (I'm still one of them).

The females waist is actually being covered by the long sweater, but i guess i didn't really make that show. I think the head turned out good, because it was desperately trying not to mess it up. My friend gave me her OC's design to work with, so I tried not to drill that up.

Swampert, yeah he does look kind of willy wonky. I feel it has to do a little with his outlines, compared to everyone else. Makes him stand off in a weird way. I drew the forearms in a way to give perspective, like one of them was reaching forward. I dont know. The chest does look weird, but its usually a hit and miss attempt to find a good anatomy for pokemon. Gosh, Professor Oak should have a skeletal model of all these pokemon. Those lazy professors need to get off their behinds and really kick it into high gear and give us anatomy charts of all the pokemon! :p

Thanks for the honesty. It's been awhile sense someones been real with me. It actually helps me to improve as an artist!

That looks great o: I won't lie, it's a little odd for me to see Pokemon with that art style, but it works. My main gripe is how shaky Swampert's outlines are compared to the rest of the characters.

Yeah about that. I honestly did not want to use a sharpie/pen at all for the 2nd sketch. The thing is I lost a pretty important eraser. Instead of outlining the whole thing and then erasing all the unneeded lines, I would just erase what I needed, and darken up the outlines.

When i outlined Swampert, I didn't like how he turned out, so I didn't do too much on the trainer.
