Do the Rumble U Amiibos work with Super Smash Bros WiiU/3DS?

I just bought a Pikachu Amiibo for Super Smash Bros 3DS and I'm curious, do the Amiibos from Pokemon Rumble U work in Smash Bros as well?

I just discovered that the Amiibos for Smash Bros work in Rumble U with interesting results.

I'd like to know what happens when you use the Rumble U Amiibos in Smash Bros.

Unfortunately you can't use the Rumble U figures in place of amiibo for amiibo related content in games.

Good to know that it doesn't work the other way round. I was thinking of buying some to try out, but I don't have a WiiU, so there wasn't any point in buying any to try myself if it didn't work.
