I'm pulling for New England, mainly because I don't like Seattle anymore because everyone's bandwagoning on the them and the 12th man thing. It was probably there before, but now it's just crazy.

I lasted until 1am with Radio 5 live coverage of the Super Bowl (not too long after Patriots got the first touchdown). Woke up to find that said Patriots won. Fair game, best team won I suppose ^^

Haha, you missed the ending!  The ending was so god damn ridiculous and also infuriating.  Massive choke, and a fight broke out.

Bruce Irvin made history as the first player ejected from a Super Bowl.

I woke up to the result that the Pats had won. I'd stay up to watch it but I find televised American Football to be frustrating to watch. Thirty seconds of play followed by people dissecting that thirty seconds for about ten minutes.

Or maybe I'm too used to English Football being 45 minutes of flow.

There's a flow to the game, but the plays are like 10 seconds and theres a 40 second playclock so instead of televising players entering and exiting the huddle, waiting for the playcall, they dissect the play that just happened unless there isn't a huddle.  They try to immediately cut to the formations if possible so the audience has an idea of whats going on presnap.  It would be terrible if there wasn't a play breakdown, and the play breakdowns themselves are interesting because you tend to lose a lot of the game from the angle you watch it on TV.

Watching it at the game you can see the play develop better, but it's nowhere near as bad as you're thinking.  The flow of NFL is smooth but very different, and the best comparison is a turn based game (or a chess match) where teams are trading possessions instead of turns...  I'm sure you already understand that, but you're downplaying the game a lot like most Europeans do.

I'm not downplaying it- I do like American Football I think because of the way sports are televised here it's just not what we're used to. The closest thing I can think of is the broadcasts of the cricket. At the end of every six balls (every 'over') they change ends and do their little analysis bit. This isn't really helped by the fact cricket is BORING AS HELL.

When it's shown on the BBC though it's great. No adverts for the same product over and over again and they help people new to the sport understand it better.

Next time the Pats are at Wembley I might try and go. It's definitely a sport I'd enjoy more while there than watching on the telly.

Yay patriots! The win breaks my 2 year losing streak to my brother. However, anyone else see that guy in the patriots secondary trip Lockette (I think it was lockette) on that pass? That was shady as heck.

I know, I saw the pick at the end I was yelling at the TV to give MVP to that guy.

That happens a lot - looks like incidental contact but the DB tried to get away with one to prevent a completion that couldn't been six if he was hit in stride.  Overall probably the worst case scenario is you don't surrender a ton of yards and get a PI right there, but the best case scenario happened.

I missed a lot though so yeah [D

Heard it was pretty dramatic towards the end, but oh well. Suppose I'll have to keep in check with NFL more, I'm getting more interested in it Oo

inb4 I settle back to soccer and forget that the NFL exists.

I'm still in denial over Kearse's catch was tipped in the air, bobbled off his legs and body and he caught it.
