Title: Grand Theft Auto V
Post by: Ledyba on November 11, 2012, 23:58
WHAT WE KNOW
+ Spring 2013 release 17/09/2013 release
+ GTA SA had a massive map, GTA IV had a smaller, but more detialed map, RDR had a massive map.  This map supposdly, taking in account of both inside and outside locations is bigger than those COMBINED.  With a working water part and everything.
+ Three characters, contrast socially and hobbies.  Michael, an ex bank robber, 40s, has a family, deal with the feds lives the high life.  Trevor, 40s,  Michael's parnter when they did bank robbers, drugged up, ex soilder. Franklin, younger than the two,  car repo man. Can change when not a mission but they can take part in missions together.  Changing will enter a supposde google map style zoom out zoom in.
+ Phone has changed  a bit, no longer get friend calls requesting acticvies (though they are still in) can access internet from it.
+ Planes. Jets.  BMXs. and stuff

wow, just wow. the map sounds intense and three main characters? What I liked most from GTA IV and it's dlc is that for the most part, the characters were running around in the same city, that felt, even though it's the same place it allowed for different expereinces with only a  reletetive few small changes.

i r so exicted.

What format?

I loved GTAIII-SA but IV just felt too heavy and realistic for me, the physics turned me away.

I hope V has a more arcadey feel to it, I'd buy a PS3 or whatever I need for that.

My only problem with this game is that I don't think I'll be able to finish it, I need like a solid year of nothing but VIDEO GAMES VIDEO GAMES VIDEO GAMES to finish all these games I own and this won't be any exception

I'm definitely getting it. After Resident Evil, GTA is my favourite series. Just the sheer size of the map is enough.

But Fallout and Skyrim had massive maps too. But there wasn't a lot in them. This, however... Just wow...

Ermergerd, this will probably be the only new game I get this year.

The fact that friends and dating is gone will be a relief! Don't want someone calling my up to go bowling/drinking/darts every 5 - 10 minutes.

The screenshots look great too, I remember going crazy when they said something was coming back last year, can't even remember what it was!

Deffinately going to find CJ's house if it's in the same area or if it's still there, I know it's probably going to be years between the time line but you can't get rid of CJ's house!

Or robbing Mad Dogg's mansion. I hope Lazlow makes a return on the radio. GTA IV's radio stations weren't as good as SA's I thought.

Lazlow Jones has pretty much confirmed he'll be in the game, so logically his counterpart in the game as wellr.  after his all time low in GTA IV I wonder where he'll go from there.

Don't think CJ's house will be in the game, there might be a similar area but Rockstar have said that the characters from GTA 3 era have a different existence from the GTA HD era, bar radio guys and so on.  There might be some eastereggs though.

I am looking forward to this though! The three playable characters element interests me the most, wonder how its going to pan out...

Excited!

17/09/2013

A week before my birthday! How lovely.

Course fans are disappointed and uh, some are angry very very angry.

But a delay can only be a good thing imo, rather have a polished product on day 1 rather than a good but unfinished game that requires 3 patches or so to work properly.  You know, like Skyrim.  As good as it is..now.

BTW Vice City is on the PSN! My second favorite GTA Game, SA is better, I love IV more but VC has a special place in my gaming life.

This presents a good and bad thing:

Good thing- I can buy Sim City V.
Bad thing- It comes out around the same time as FIFA...

Surely GTA V no competition?

FIFA comes out end of September... Which is conveniently around mine and the missus' anniversary... So I'll ask for that as a present... SORTED! :D

I swear Saints Row 4 is being released a month before this too  :???

I mean, GTA will sodomize it but it's nice to see Saints Row still trying after SR:3...

Oh, imagine they leave the bicycle in the alleyway as a little nod to the start of Sanandreas!

There's weird noises coming from around my house.

+ Spring 2013 release 17/09/2013 release
You didn't need to cross that out; in Australia that month is when Spring occurs.

Anyway, I want to buy GTA V and see how it is different to GTA Vice City, GTA IV, etc.

I think they'll delay it further and make it a launch title for PS4 and the next Xbox, if it comes out then.
The protagonists are nice, Michael feels like an elder Tommy Vercetti (who is my favourite). Franklin kinda reminds me of CJ. Trevor feels like a representation of what every GTA player does in between missions. He's the first protagonist who looks like he'd want to get a 6 star rating for fun. xD
They SHOULD make a PC version, honestly don't care about Wii U version, though.

A month late but what the cow.

They won't delay it for the PS4/Nextbox, it's a question of numbers really.  Remember this game has probably cost them ~100 million to make (GTA IV was that much, but I'm not sure if that includes RAGE development and other things) and currently the PS3 and 360 has a userbase of something around 140 million.  Well units sell, that's a rough number you could probably shave of a small fraction for second consoles/replacements whatever but it's still a massive, massive number compared to what, the couple of million the next-gen consoles may have the end of the year?  They need it to make money, and a lot of money.

PS3/360 are not going to be irrelevant when the next-gen comes out, they'll probably be profitable for a while yet - maybe not the extent the PS2 was (support only stopped fairly recently) so GTA V will have a shot at long healthy sales.

however, I sort of believe they'll make a port to the next-gen consoles, GTA tends to have high sale life - Hell I still see copies of GTA IV being sold brand new and a next gen port would only help that.

don't worry about a PC version, that's is more than likely coming.

I heard new rumors that some Rockstar official said a PC version is unlikely.

And yeah, why would Rockstar want to release their magnum opus for an outdated console?

Rockstar haven't said anything official about a PC version other than 'its under consideration' they've always ported it to Pc starting with GTA 3 (1 and 2 being PC First games.)

Like I said, sales from a much higher userbase, They've been working on This game for 5 years they're going to want to make a profit and they'll get a higher one currently from this gen userbase than next gen which will only launch this year.
Rockstar do very good games, but realistically speaking, they have to make products profitable.

A Next Gen version may happen though after this GTA V launches after this gen.

Rockstar would be dumb as hell to not release this on PC

They'll probably end up building it up so that the game pushes the limits of the existing consoles, but still looks good enough so that it won't look already dated on the next generation.

That's something I'd agree with.

Maybe it'll be one of the first streaming games for PS4.

Anyone else going to a midnight launch tonight?

Me and Rex are, since we both can't wait to play it asap <3

I bought it today. Traded in Resident Evil 5, Forza 3, MW3, Dead Island, Force Unleashed and NFS Undercover to raise some funds. Currently installing, although I don't understand why I HAVE to install it. Unless Rockstar are like EA and think that ALL gamers are pirates.

Maybe that's why there's no PC version yet. Although I'll probably end up getting it on PC. Think of the mod potential!

The game installs for better performance.  It's both able to stream from your disc and the HDD at the same time I believe, that and if you're playing a 360 you don't have to switch disc.

If you look at Los Santos from a distance (from the end of the pier or from the countryside) the visuals look incredible, but in the actual city they're not much different from GTA IV.

Although the LA Noir style facial animations look great.
