Hey guys, so we were talking in IRC (http://pkmn.net/forums/index.php?action=chat) and we thought it might be cool if we had like a community games night, where we all decide on a game and play it together for a bit.
It would hopefully be some sort of weekly or fortnightly event, where every week we have a bit of a discussion about what game we would all play and then we'd play it. The kinds of games we could play could be pretty much everything, but obviously it's best if it's something that is either owned by a lot of people, or free and easy to run/play etc.
A few ideas that were thrown about in IRC consisted of stuff like;
- Dota 2 (http://pkmn.net/forums/index.php?topic=106029.0)
- Cards Against Humanity (http://pretendyoure.xyz/)
- Team Fortress 2
etc.
Would anyone be interested in this? Also feel free to suggest games if you have anything you think might be fun!

What is Game Night?! =D
but nah I'd be down for CAH or something that requires no skill whatsoever (as long as I didn't have work)
-
I'd be up for it, but I can't do stuff like TF 2 because of my netbook. CAH and stuff like that I can however, but don't let that stop you from picking other things.
-
It turns out Pretend Your Xyzzy got shut down because of constant DDOS attacks. We were tossing around the idea of Gmod in the chat though. Mostly Prop Hunt, TTT, and Murder.
-
I would be down for some Gmod. Hopefully it wouldn't lag too much with some of us being in different countries.
TF2 has a prop hunt that I feel is superior to Gmod's though, and given TF2's free status it would be easier for members to access. If not enough people get together, we could also run some L4D.
As for Pretend You're Xyzzy being DDoS'd, there is the alternative in Tabletop Simulator, but that one has a pricetag. A quick Google search brought up Decks against Society (https://www.decksagainstsociety.com), which requires registering (without email). Another option is Cardtrocity (http://www.playinperson.com/cardtrocity), which looks like a CaH clone with built in video chat support. I haven't tried either of these two, so don't get all uppity if they 'splode your computer or something.
-
I could be down for some magic, yu-gi-oh, or obviously pokemon, but that's nearly impossible without skype or something like that.
-
You all should be playing Dominion.
-
We also could do Civ, I totally forgot.
EDIT: Monster Hunter too!
-
Could we include MK X when it comes out in April? If so then I'm in. Although the games I have that incorporate online interaction are the Pokemon games, SF IV 3D Edition, and Mortal Kombat 2011.

Civ is amazing, would definitely be cool to play that. (Although games do take /forever/, even on quick xD)

Well, what me and my friends did is we tried to do a normal length game and just meet up at the same time every week until we got it done. I definitely don't think we could do it all in one shot!
-
What about a Minecraft night? I just started playing the game but I am interested in trying to play online with others.
-
We spoke about this, we'd just need somebody who'd be willing to run a dedicated server. I'd personally love to, but it's simply not possible when I'm at school.
-
Well I don't know how to set a server up.

Start the game in the industrial or modern age. Won't take as long then.

Sick, this got a lot of interest so I guess we'll go ahead with it.
So the two things we need to consider is the date of the first night, and what we're going to play. All of the games that were mentioned twice or more (thus suggesting a decent amount of interest in them) are as follows;
Personally I would prefer CAH or Minecraft because they're simple games you can play for however long and then you can be done when you want to be done. I suppose the same could be said for GMod but I wasn't much of a fan when I played it, but if that's what we vote for I don't mind playing it again.
Here's a strawpoll so we can vote on them (http://strawpoll.me/3670455). Went with Strawpoll because I don't think you can create multiple polls in the same topic and this lets us keep one topic forever. You can make multiple votes so you can vote for everything you're interested in playing.
And then what night would people prefer? I'm open to any night because I'm a no life so what works best for everyone else?
-
I'd like to get to know you better so if this happens then I'd like to join you. The only one of those games I've ever played before is CAH, though.
-
I can't guarantee nights because of work and stuff =[
I'll just sort of join in when I can ^^;
-
cah sounds awesome!!
aside from GMod, there is also TF2, speedrunners, left 4 dead 1/2, and terraria. we could also stream for those who can't make it/don't have the games
also i rly wanna do gmod cause... baths... with rockets on em.
OH. Town of Salem is very fun and very chaotic but I'm not entirely sure we'd be able to fill a server with just PKMN guys

Something tells me you'd like Gmod's "Sled Build" game mode.
