^Actually, this is kind of a point (if I've understood it right...). It can't have failed that badly if america is still one of (if not the) most powerful countries.

I think WWII fixed the economy better than the New Deal did. The war pushed people into manufacturing jobs and stuff got sold to the allied forces.
