Disney buys Star Wars and LucasFilm

ep 7 out 2015.

The internet has entered fanboy EXPLOSION.

I'm optimistic, maybe some fresh ideas and creative injections would be a good thing!

Maybe we'll see the unedited originals out.  There's demand for it heh.

I don't care too much about what Disney do with it, but I'm just shocked as to why Disney feel the need to buy EVERYTHING.

Jesus Christ Disney, let someone else have a slice of the cake for once.

So who's looking forward to Star Wars Episode 7: Darth Vader May Need Glasses? XD

It's something I never saw coming, and it also invites an explosion of possibilities from now. Will ep 7-9 be live action, animated or even made by Pixar? Will some of the actors reprise their roles for the films or set it far in the future? Will Yoda and Vader show up in Marvel Vs Capcom 4? XD

And that's Star Wars alone. Will we see Indiana Jone 5 anytime soon too?

My limited understanding of the SW universe is that George Lucas is pretty much hated by all at this point? Hopefully it will mean more ideas thrown into the mix.

I'm hoping it will be okay, probably won't go and see it in cinema since I'm not really into Star Wars but Disney aren't that bad, they should do a good job.

I'm struck with huge ambivalence here. I grew up on Star Wars, had all the action figures and all the toys such as the Millenium Falcon, so when the finish of Episode III came, it kind of all slotted into place. It was all about Anakin, Vader, how he had grown from this young boy with ideals and a very human nature, to becoming this machine.. and then his saving grace and the destruction of the Empire. You know.. I was really excited that they did go back and do a prequel trilogy (well, I say that, it was announced when I was like.. what.. four..? I only found out when they re-released them at cinema) in that it'd tell Vader's story from the other side of the coin..

I know of the comics and I'm almost certain this is the route they'll go down. The 'after-story' where it's about Luke and his family, Han and his family just... didn't rub right with me, they've isolated those problems (or, mainly isolated I should say) for them yet they were the catalyst and main reasons for Anakin turning..? I mean, the thing I loved the most about the six episodes already released was that it was an epic fight in the stars, cool scenes with lightsabers, yet the real core reason why all of this was happening was for very human and very real reasons.. then they've kind of removed that and just turned it into a fantasy epic which.. meh.

I loved the films, and there was parts of me that does think that they could do a lot with the series and take it off in a new direction where the action lines are closer to Episode III (I mean, come on, incredibly cool fight scenes), but in doing so they may just lose something else I really liked about the series in the first place.. hm. I just don't want to see it turned into another cash cow, although their handling of the Marvel films so far might indicate that they're capable of maintaining it (certainly to an improvement on I-III), although they'll never reach the brilliance of Empire Strikes Back.

There's still quite a bit that happens after the events of Return of the Jedi though:

Luke sets up the Jedi Praxium on Yavin IV

There's Imperial Remnant knocking about

Still some Dark Jedi knocking about.

Rise and fall of the Disciples of Ragnos.

Following the collapse of the Empire Reborn movement, and destruction of Disciples of Ragnos cult, major armed conflict between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant drops off, turning into almost a cold war.

The New Republic and the last fragment of the Empire sign the Pellaeon–Gavrisom Treaty, ending the 21-year-long Galactic Civil War.

25 – 29 ABY – The Yuuzhan Vong War

So still plenty to write about

More movies. Lucas toyed around the idea of sequels, later denying they'll ever be ones, and now there will be sequels thanks to Disney's money.

Makes for an amusing read on the Wikapedia page. XD

IDK about the actual star wars series but the thought of some kind of epic keyblade vs. lightsaber fight? That makes everything totally worth it.

I can think of anything more worthwhile than to say.

Oh God No.

Now that I think about it, this is totally the reason why kingdom hearts 3 is taking so long.

i know Star Wars has been milked and tainted by bad entries, decisions and such, but a part in Kingdom Hearts? :( Come on, there must be some limit to the depth it can plunge.

I thought Kingdom Hearts was like the resting place of all milked disney franchises?
