Character Guides / Marcus McNeal [3rd]
« on: August 14, 2010, 22:35 »

Name: Marcus McNeal

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Description: Marcus is a dark-skinned boy with light brown eyes who is a bit tall for his age, standing at 5' 7". He usually keeps his black hair somewhat knotty and unkept and casually wears a black hoodie jacket with a pair of denim jeans. However, when competing in Pokemon Contests he cleans himself up nicely by tidying his hair up and sporting a black suit with a red tie.

Personality: Marcus isn't particularly mellow and often gets worked up over trivial things. Although he puts up the facade of a loner, he can become very emotionally invested in the people around him. Being a male who's chosen Pokemon Coordination as a career path, he can get very touchy when his masculinity is tested. He's also somewhat uncomfortable with being such close friends with girls, thinking it makes him seem too feminine. He's always had problems expressing his true emotions and often puts on a strong facade in times of distress.

History: Marcus' parents were both Coordinators in their time and they were both awful at it. Born and raised in Hearthome City, he grew up with his twin brother Jason, immersed in dreams of following in his parents footsteps and one day doing what they couldn't; competing in and winning the Grand Festival. Once the two boys came of age they left home. Marcus went in search of Pokemon that would help him accomplish that goal and spent his subsequent years traveling around Sinnoh doing just that, although he didn't find many. To this day, he's only competed in two contests, failing to advance past the appeal stage both times. Conversely, his brother Jason became a very beloved Coordinator and even competed in the Sinnoh Grand Festival. After having little success in his Sinnoh endeavors, Marcus scraped together what little money he had and boarded a plane to the Kanto region where he hoped to work on his appeals and reverse his misfortune.

Friends: Santiago, Joshua Rose

Enemies: Team Rocket, Stephan

Rivals: Jason McNeal, Jamelia "Jamie" Monroy, Reginald Kocurek

Pokemon

Monferno /Poke Ball
[Jolly/Blaze]
(Scratch, Encore, Ember, Taunt, Double Kick, Mach Punch, Brick Break, Flame Wheel)

Chimmy evolved while the group was on their way to the Fighting Tournament in Saffron City. After Marcus decided to search for a Fighting-type for the competition instead of using him, Chimmy trained every night after everyone was asleep sleep until it suddenly evolved; much to Marcus' surprise. He and Marcus have been together for years and they have become the best of friends. Monferno is still a strong battler and continues to do its best work in the 2nd phase of Pokemon Contests.

Staravia/Zolo /Poke Ball
[Adamant/Intimidate]
(Tackle, Whirlwind, Quick Attack, Roost, Double Team, Wing Attack, Secret Power)

Marcus captured Zolo in the Sinnoh region. It is a proud and strong-willed bird that enjoys the spotlight involved in Pokemon Contests. It also isn't afraid to face up to any opponent, regardless of its size or type advantage.

Gloom /Poke Ball
[Quirky/Chlorophyll]
(Absorb, Sweet Scent, Acid, Poison Powder, Stun Spore, Sleep Powder, Mega Drain)

Oddish evolved into Gloom while Marcus was preparing for the S.S. Anne Confernece. Gloom still tends to behave very strangely and continues to march to the beat of its own drum. Since evolving it isn't received as well by the judges in contests, because of its new appearance, but that hasn't had an effect on its love for performing.

Slowking /Poke Ball
[Naive/Oblivious]
(Headbutt, Yawn, Curse, Water Gun, Confusion, Disable, Water Pulse, Power Gem, Zen Headbutt)

Marcus' Slowpoke evolved Santiago's Shellder clamped down on its head while it was holding the Kings Rock during a battle in the Fuchsia City Pokemon Contest. It has gained great intellect since evolving and has the ability to speak human languages. However, it finds Marcus and his friends to be beneath it intellectually and refuses to speak to them in English.

Snorunt /Poke Ball
[Bashful/Ice Body]
(Powder Snow, Double Team, Icy Wind, Headbutt, Protect)

Marcus caught aboard the S.S. Anne in the middle of the night while she and her brother were battling a pair of Heracross after sneaking aboard. Not much is known about it at this point other than its bashful nature.

Axew/Poke Ball
[Rash/Rivalry]
(Scratch, Leer, Dragon Rage, Razor Wind)

Marcus received Axew from Professor Oak after the latter deemed he and his friends worthy of the Pokemon from the Unova region he was giving away for Professor Juniper. Marcus doesn't know much about it, but it seems to have a very aggressive personality. Although it has learned the attack, it hasn't yet learned how to fire off its Dragon Rage, simply biting down on the blue energy ball with its jaw, causing an explosion that damages everything nearby, including itself.

Character Guides / Arron M. Smith [2nd]
« on: June 21, 2010, 23:38 »

Name: Aaron Michael Smith

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Description: Slightly pale with short, dirty blond hair and blue eyes. Wears a blue long-sleeved jacket with a white t-shirt underneath, brown pants and black boots. He's about 5'9" with an athletic build.

Personality: Aaron is a very competitive, hard worker. Once he focuses in on a goal it's hard for him to disengage. He cares a great deal for his friends and those who support him, making him loyal to a fault. His hobbies include gambling, flirting with girls, and working out, although he's gotten a bit lazier as of late. He's not above using his achievements and "status" to impress the opposite sex and will often shows off in the presence of a woman. Aaron isn't above fighting a person, or Pokemon for that matter, with his bare hands. Most of his drive came from his father pushing him and he now finds himself in search of ways to stay motivated without him.

History: He was born into an average, middle-class family in Phenac City, Orre. His parents split up when he was very young and his mother moved to Agate Village with his grandparents. He was mainly raised by his dad. Once he grew older his father force fed him the idea of traveling around and competing in the Pokeathlons. He soon grew quite fond of the idea and began preparing to compete. At the age of 14, he dropped out of Pokemon School and at 16 he left home to begin his quest toward the Supreme Cup, the ultimate Pokeathlon.

Friends: Maya Love, Len Sumac

Enemies: Team Magma, Courtney

Pokemon

Phanpy /Poke Ball
[Hardy/Pickup]
(Tackle, Defense Curl, Take Down, Rollout)

Aaron captured Phanpy on the outskirts of Phenac City with his father. From the moment he caught it, he knew that the Long Nose Pokemon would be perfect for the Ring Drop competition, but after putting his Pokeathlon missions on hold, Phanpy is used exclusively as a battler.

Treecko/Gex /Poke Ball
[Adamant/Overgrow]
(Pound, Leer, Absorb, Quick Attack)

Aaron won Treecko in somewhat of a sweepstakes contest on the ship headed to Slateport City. The Pokemon was coveted by many starting trainers on board and a name drawing was held to decide who would receive the grass-type starter. Out of shear luck, Aaron's name was picked and Treecko was given to him, much to the dismay of the other trainers. Treecko is very confident in its abilities, especially its speed.

Poochyenna/Poke Ball
[Hasty/Quick Feet]
(Tackle, Howl, Sand Attack, Bite, Poison Fang)

Aaron met Poochyenna on the outskirts of Rustboro when it was chasing a wild Zigzagoon. The boy intervened, battling and eventually capturing the Dark-type Pokemon. Poochyenna is aggressive and loves to bite things, much like the rest of its species. At this point, not much else is known about it.

Marill /Net Ball
[Mild/Thick Fat]
(Tackle, Tail Whip, Water Gun, Rollout, Aqua Jet)

Marill evolved from the Azurill he captured shortly after releasing Wingull back into the wild. Marill is a solid, all around Pokemon who can carry its own weight in battle. It's Thick Fat ability allows it to hold its own against even the strongest of Team Magma's Fire-types.

Doduo/Dodo /Poke Ball
[Adamant/Run Away]
(Peck, Agility, Uproar, Fury Attack, Double Hit)

Aaron caught Doduo when he stumbled upon a caravan passing through Oldale Town, heading to the Safari Zone. It's skilled in battle, but it's greatest weakness is that it's two heads do not get along, making it difficult for them to fight in sync. While they may bicker and fight often, but both heads share a common liking of Aaron. Dodo also seems to have somewhat of a wild side.

[Quirky/Rock Head]
(Flail, Mimic, Rock Throw, Low Kick, Slam, Double-Edge, Wood Hammer)

Vaporeon / Great Ball
[Calm/Water Absorb]
(Water Gun, Endure, Aqua Tail, Helping Hand, Swift, Headbutt,)

Cameron obtained Vaporeon from a fellow agent, who accidentally evolved his Eevee, in exchange for his Slowbro. Vaporeon is very loyal, but due to it being given up so quickly after its evolution, it has a few abandonment issues.

Primape / Great Ball
[Hasty/Anger Point]
(Fury Swipes, Focus Energy, Karate Chop, Seismic Toss, Rage, Cross Chop, Thrash, Revenge, Counter, Close Combat)

Cameron captured Primape while awaiting the briefing for his latest mission at Silph Co.  Primape doesn't obey Cameron in the least bit, therefore he left it back at the agency for training.  Like most Primape, he has an extreme temper problem and often takes it out on anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby.  He has a wide variety of attacks and Cameron hopes to be able to use him soon.

Pokemon On Hand

Jolteon / Safari Ball
[Sassy/Volt Absorb]
(Thundershock, Attract, Quick Attack, Pin Missile, Take Down, Shadow Ball, Thunder Fang, Shock Wave)

Eevee accidentally evolved into Jolteon a few seconds after Xander obtained it in a trade with Vince for his Scyther, due to Amanda's Thunder Stone. Jolteon's personality has changed because of its evolution. She now has more attitude and she doesn't like anyone other than Xander and Amanda. However, she is strong and Xander likes to keep her around because she reminds him of Sparx, his late grandfather's old Jolteon.

Panpour/ Poke Ball
[Quirky/Gluttony]
(Scratch, Leer, Lick, Water Gun, Fury Swipes, Bite, Scald)

Xander first met Panpour on Route 17 just after arriving in the Unova Region. Although his initial attempt to capture it was unsuccessful, he got another chance outside of Professor Juniper's lab in Nuvema Town and managed to snag it. Panpour uses its agility well in battle and seems to have an intense fear of lightning and electricity that goes beyond it's type disadvantage.

Tepig/ Poke Ball
[Mild/Blaze]
(Tackle, Tail Whip, Ember)

Xander received Tepig from professor Juniper after Snivy and Oshawott were taken by Dune and Harmony, respectively. Tepig doesn't have much experience battling and requires a good deal of training since it was originally meant for a starting trainer. It has a lot of heart and finds itself getting close to its new trainer rather quickly, causing Jolteon to become jealous.

Rufflet/ Poke Ball
[Rash/Sheer Force]
(Peck, Scary Face, Wing Attack, Hone Claws, Aerial Ace, Crush Claw)

Xander caught Rufflet at the PAI Academy during his Pokemon Capture Skills class. He found it fighting a Vullaby and after defeating it, Rufflet turned its aggressions on Xander. The boy defeated it and captured it, hoping to get a good grade, but since he accidentally used on of his own pokeballs, he was given a failing grade. Nevertheless, although not much is known about Rufflet at this point he is sure to be a great addition to Xander's team with attacks like Aerial Ace and Crush Claw.

Cubchoo/ Poke Ball
[Timid/Snow Cloak]
(Powder Snow, Bide)

Xander received the egg that contained Cubchoo in his Pokemon Breeding Techniques class while attending PAI. He was charged with the task of caring for it until it hatched and raising it to be a healthy young Pokemon once it did. However, after accidentally dropping the egg down a hill, it was cracked and hatched prematurely. Not much is known about Cubchoo yet, but it appears to be very timid, which is to be expected from such a young Pokemon.
