Yeah the old guard is mostly gone, which is pretty sad.  I can't even think of all the people I remember getting used to seeing post every day and all the time.

Back when I was active all the time it was always people like Mike, Rex, Turner, Kay, CS10 and Lottie around (it's been so long that I can remember most of their first names but not their usernames, that's strange) and then everyone from the Spriting boards. It's kinda sad that that's all gone now...

Previous account included, I joined just under nine years ago, crikey...

I was 9 when I created my first account but I only really made an account because the website told me to, I didn't quite understand the concept of a forum. I made a new one when I was 11 and got into spriting. I think it was the PKMN Hokage or someone who taught me how to do it and I made crappy little animations on Microsoft GIF Animator. I used the main site for tips on how to play Pokémon Silver (which I still think is the best Pokémon game ever made).

It got me into the whole "internet community" thing, and I can remember spending very late nights on IRC doing quizzes and talking about random things. I remember a whole rivalry with some guy called Mik and I can also remember being a really obnoxious, pretentious ass, whoops.

I broke my laptop when I was 13 and didn't get a new one until last year, so in the interim I ended up using the desktop which was more censored than North Korea and so consequently my activity level just totally fell off and I never really got back into it... by the time I came back I had sort of grown out of Pokémon and my lack of funds have meant I haven't been able to keep up with buying the consoles and games since B/W.

I remember my sort of forum friends were Liam, JSM, Inferna, Mizz, and that sort of arty crowd over at Sprite Fan Art, but I am sure I've missed a couple of people off.

As for me now I like to think I've become less irritating and it was PKMN.NET that made me interested in computers and got me properly computer literate. And made me move away from txtspeak and that kind of thing. I'm in my last year of secondary school and have just got a place at Oxford University in October to study Classics.

It's really cool to see some of the "old guard" here, and I can't believe I've spent nearly a decade visiting this site...

I love reading this thread. I joined properly in 2005 called Salamence200, then deleted the account somehow and got a new one, adlib, in 2007. So I joined when I was 9. I think Liam said it, it's weird to think that we spent being a kid on here dorking around with sprites and IRC quizzes and forum games and now we're all at university or applying there, or graduated already and in the big world.

I kinda miss this place, to be honest.

I think Thatcher made several mistakes but overall her contribution was good. What I will say though is that the argument that people who were not around during her time in office are unable to have an opinion is a poor one: by that logic none of us are allowed to disagree with Hitler, or have an opinion on Stalin, or even study history at all, because "we weren't there".

I really liked that. Moffat appears to be going away from the fairytale-esque route and going down the RTD-esque road. The next episode looks fantastic as well, gotta love some aliens!

Just saw this thread and read all twelve pages of it. God, these were some good times. This place was my first foray into the internet - I find it hard to believe that it was nearly six years ago! I tended to lurk around on the Spriting forum, then on IRC. Inferna, Mizz, Liam, Kay, that kind of crowd. Wow.

So did I! "It was the time when first rest begins for weary mortals..." Was pretty hard going, but I knew it all by the end. xD

Was such a good story - I got 98% on that module, was well chuffed xD

You're reading the Aeneid in Latin? Good going! "arma virumque cano..." etc. It's a great poem - I had to do Book II for my GCSE Latin :)

The Odyssey is also better than the Iliad, so good choice there - if you like Latin, try learning some Classical Greek and having a crack at some of the Odyssey untranslated!

I'm reading Wuthering Heights at the moment, and it's irritating because I can't get the Kate Bush song out of my head while I do it...
