General Pokémon Discussion / Re: Terrible Pokemon ideas
« on: June 28, 2013, 13:21 »
Also, moreso than being incognito bombs, Voltorb and Electrode (and by extension, Foongus and Amoongus) are pretty much mimics, which are a staple of a lot of other RPGs, serving to lure in adventurers thinking they're getting sweet loot, only to be attacked violently. I've always liked mimics, so I can't hate any of them. Most people are gonna be "So what? It's still lazy" even having that pointed out, though, and I can't really blame them.
Yeah, I suppose so, but still, I kinda like the idea of that, but I still don't really like it, if that makes sense. Forgot to mention foongus and Amoongus. Annoying as heck running into them all the time, thinking it was a pokeball. I guess you could say voltorb, elctrode, foongus, and amoongus are the trolls of the pokemon world.

MushroomLizard - in future, please, may not swear in your posts, even if it's stared out, we'd rather not have it on the site.  Thank you.
Yeah, sorry about that. I won't swear again. UH, I would presume "heck" is fine, right?

Why are we discussing bad Pokemon designs instead of bowing to Blaziken?

Agreement with Magneton and Dugtrio, but I think they work. Magneton is actually one of my favorites. Klink's line isn't unoriginal, it'a actually very original. Forget "It's just more gears each time", actually look at the sprite. They added a lot of complexity by the end of it and made the animation incredibly smooth. I think they deserve a lot of props for being able to do that.

Muk is a living pile of sludge with an arm. Your arguments are invalid. While I don't particularly like Garbador, I don't hate it either. It's pretty original, a garbage bag from a landfill coming to life as a poisonous monster, you gotta give 'em that.
Ha, Blaziken's pretty cool I guess. Too be honest, I think the hoenn starters were the best and Blaziken's cool, but I like Sceptile and Swampert better. I think you should just give up on this whole Blaziken thing and just become a Swampert fan instead, he's much cooler.

I guess your right about Klinklank, but I guess it's mostly just personal taste for me. I really just don't like it, and I don't like the idea of a bunch of gears as a pokemon either.

Also, a funny thing that I just realised with Muk and Garbodor. Although it's not an official trio, pokemon kinda has a pollutant trio going on. Weezing, the air pollutant, Garbodor, the land pollutant, and Muk, the water pollutant.

General Pokémon Discussion / Re: Is pokemon dying?
« on: June 27, 2013, 18:23 »
A lot of kids these day's think its embarrassing to play pokemon, and that it's only for babies. The sad part is that the so called "adult" game, COD, has more kids on it then adults, and the so called "baby" game, pokemon, has more adults/teenagers on it then kids. The generations aren't getting worse either in my opinion. Sure, I wasn't super impressed with the b/w pokemon line up, but it was still good and they completely improved the game, making certain aspects of it less annoying and more fun and cool in general. B2/W2 were the best third instalment's in a generation ever in my opinion.

Look at my profile picture and guess. I'll give you a hint if its too hard for you to find out; it's one of the starters, and its not sceptile or blaziken's line

his glasses, which than broke. These were brand new glasses, causing  Swampert to be enraged to an unbelievable level. He then proceeded to....

had a hidden Swampert inside of it! The Swampert then grew back to normal size and wrecked the Blaziken and Lucario with an earthquake, but then.....

Ahh, I see. Thanyou very much. Now, heres my sprite. It's nothing amazing, but I think it's decent for my first time. I wasn't sure which one looked better so here are two versions of the sprite.

I think another water/steel would be cool, and maybe its design can be based off of a hammerhead shark. A ghost/steel would be another cool type and I agree with the person a few posts before who mentioned a steel/ice. A bug/ground would be cool and it would lose the weakness to stealth rocks, making it possibly good for competitive play. A flying/fighting pokemon would be awesome!(I got the idea from one of the smogon custom sprites). I also wouldn't mind, maybe for the gen 6 starter trio, There could be a grass/fighting, a water/psychic, and a fire/dark so that the grass can still be used against the fire, the fire can be used against the water, and the water can be used against the grass(please no fourth fire/fighting type though, I had enough at infernape, cooked bacon wasn't any better). One more idea, a steel/dragon type, as the only other one is Dialga(which I don't like), and Dialga is in Ubers. But, this time, since its a dragon, it could have levitate as well, so it would only be weak to fighting. I could see this pokemon as being a very big threat in the meta-game. A water/fire and a fire/grass would also be very cool as we have a water/grass already. They might as well finish the trio.
+ fire/grass + water/fire

Steel has the huge advantage of a massive defensive presence though, and most competitive teams use one (in game not so much, as there's a lack of them (bar Magnemite and klingklang, which few people like)) but it will be nice to use them offensively. Poison types probably won't be used as much as steel, as it hasn't got a great move pool (unless they buff this too).

I'm imagining that Fairy, in terms of defense, will be specially based, which gives even more reason for steel to be used (scizor with bullet punch, for example).

Slightly off topic, but what are the good poison types?
Venusaur is a good sun team member in OU, and Roserade's a decent pokemon in UU. Nidoking is the king of attackers in UU and Nidoqueen is also in a solid position in UU. Gengar's a very dangerous OU threat. Crobat is very popular in UU. Toxicroak's another good OU poison type, but he's not seen too often due to the prevalence of drought teams, but he is good on rain teams. Amoongus is a really good pokemon in RU, and (unfortunetly) Garbodor is actually not trash in the NU tier. Weezing is another strong NU pokemon and Tentacruel is a very strong defensive spinner in OU. Venomoth is also very powerful due to a very accurate sleep powder(wonder skin) and quiver dance. After that, the few remaining poison type's are rarely seen. So there are a lot of powerful poison types in the tiers, however, take in mind at least half of the poison type's listed don't even use poison moves typically. There are also very few pure poison types on this list (Weezing and Garbodor are the only one's. Although good, they're both in the NU tier for a reason).

lol, you forgot more than half of the starters, but whatever. Mudkip is clearly my favourite, and he will always be. The swampert line is soo cool

Before you read this, it is speculation, not released (as far as I know

Fairys basically there replacement for magic (seems to be what most people are saying), magic is supposed to be voided by iron. I know steel isn't iron, but it's a compound of iron and carbon, so would have a similar effect (that, and steel is just 'metal' named better/different) and therefore steel should be resistant/immune to fairy

Also, Silver bullets are quite commonly known for killing mythical creatures of various kinds, so Steel could be supereffective against fairy, maybe?
I think poison should also be supereffective against fairy type too, and if its true, its good that steel is supereffective as steel is only good against ice and rock and poison is only good against grass.

Everyone harping on abotu Bug types seems to be quite forgetting the frankly awesome and rather dashing Scolipede!

I'm excited about Dragon having another weakness, and Fairy being strong against it does make sense when you use your brain. I'd also like to find out what it's other strengths/weaknesses are. I'm expecting that it will be weak to fire but strong against dark.

I think that a couple of electric types (Ampharos for example) will get the upgrade to Fairy type aswell since there are lots of pokemon that are just electric(Thought I ought to throw this opinion in as no one's mentioned it really)
Nahh, fire would become a bit op then. I kind of see where your going with that though, but fire is already good against four types; ice, bug, steel, and grass. Adding fairy to that would make it a bit too good. It is possible though seeing how ground is super effective against 5 types, and fire types are often not used due to their weakness to stealth rock. However, I think types like poison and steel (especially poision as it's only good against grass) should be super effective as they have few types they're good against. Poison would make sense a bit too.
