Today, our POTD is what is undoubtedly my favorite Pokemon out of generation 6.

Pangoro!

Now, let me tell you why Pango kicks so much ass.

• It's signature move, Power - Up Punch, increases power every time it is used.
• It's typing, Dark / Fighting, gives Power - Up Punch STAB.
• The ability Iron Fist increases the power even further.
• A Metronome increases the power each time it is used consecutively.

Now! With all of this power combined, Pangoro tops 600 power in only five turns. The move is super effective on five types as well, making it even better.

Oh, so you're a flying type?

ICE PUNCH.

Oh, so you're a Fighting type?

AERIAL ACE.

Oh, so you're a Fairy type?

POISON JAB.

YEAH.

Gets over 600 attack in *only* 5 turns? IDK that seems a little long for me. Still, stab iron fist power up punch is going to be nice, but I can't help but think that its a little on the slow side. It doesn't really seem bulky enough to justify that slow speed stat either. Could make a nice niche on a trick room team or something, though.

So many problems with Iron Fist + PuP...

Firstly, metronome is a crap item. Choice Band is almost always superior. In fact no. It ALWAYS is.

It's also not it's signature move - it's a TM move in gen VI

Also, PuP is only 40 BP - and so Hammer Arm is usually superior, at 100 BP.

And 600 power in five turns isn't that great... Chatot, for example, reaches 630 in 3 turns. (Nasty Plot, Nasty Plot, Boomburst (140 + STAB + 4 SpA boosts)

At the moment, it just seems to be a better Scrafty, but even then it lacks Dragon Dance.

Sure, hes a pretty cool pokemon, but you over-boast him. He's extremely slow, so almost any fairy type, or even any other pokemon with a reasonably strong fairy attack, could come in and one shot him because of his 4x weakness to Fairy. Not to mention the fact that Aerial ace isn't exactly a very strong attack to use to deal with bulky fighting types. He's very strong physically and has a pretty cool design, but his very low speed and only average defenses let him down. I would say Scrafty is a better dark/fighting type, having better bulk, arguably the best fighting type attack in high jump kick, and great boosting options in moxie and dragon dance.

Now this Pokemon is the reason I'm choosing a Water type for the first time when I get X and Y.

Greninja!

Admittedly, when I get a new Pokemon game, I will ALWAYS go for the Fire types. However, I was not particularly impressed with the Fire starter this genoration, but this starter ninja'd it's way into my heart.

Firstly, the design. I think it looks pretty incredible. Is has an aerodynamic body shape and a... Um, tongue scarf? I dont know what to call it but generation 6 seems to be full of scarf Pokemon this time (the entire Froakie evolution line seems to be wearing scarves, whether it is made of tongue or bubbles).

Ability? Torrent, every Water starter's signature ability, will always come in handy at some point. Boosting the power of water type moves when health is low is always helpful in dire situations and then you throw a Hydro Pump in their face. However Torrent is nothing compared to the other ability Greninja can get his hands on. Protean changes the user's type to match the move it uses, so it basically always gets a free STAB boost.

Moves? Greninja gets moves from Water, Psychic, Dark, Ice, Rock, Poison, Ghost, Normal, Fighting, Ground, Flying and Bug. That is a hell of a lot, and having Protean always gives the move a helpful power bonus.

If you are making a generation 6 team, Greninja is a must. Protean is always able to catch the opponent out.

The Pokedex states that Alakazam's IQ is over 5,000. Yet it STILL can't learn five moves at one time. Really?

No, it's over 9,000!

Sorry, bad joke.

OH JESUS almost forgot about this.

Cloyster!

Now, despite being easy to shut down, Shell Smash Cloyster can be overpowered IF you can use it correctly. You can either give it a White Herb to restore the defenses lost by Shell Smash, or you can use King's Rock to take massive advantage of Skill Link, with each multi - hit attack having a 50% chance to flinch.

Having access to Ice Shard and Rock Blast takes advantage of skill Link as well, and Ice Shard gets STAB and priority to make up for Cloyster's pretty cruddy speed. It's a shame it doesn't get Water Shuriken to be added to it's arsenal, having a powerful Water move with STAB.

However, despite the added Shell Smash power, Cloyster can be easy to shut down due to it's decreased defenses. Although if it is used correctly it can become an insane, unstoppable sweeping machine that has no brakes.

CRAP! Nearly forgot this existed!

Togekiss!

Admittedly, I dont like Togekiss one bit. But recently it seems to be in every OU team in existence, and Serene Grace Air Slash has sent my team down the crapper plenty of times.

Having Serene grace and Air Slash already gives it a nice kick, getting a good STAB move that now has a massive chance to totally stop the opponent from moving if they are slower. If the opponent is faster, Togekiss can unleash a Thunder Wave to chop that speed in half. Then, here comes the constant flinching again!

SO FRUSTRATING.

So in conclusion, Togekiss is a great Pokemon to use if you know how, but it is a holy pain in the ass to fight.
