Title: Nathan's Soulsilver Nuzlocke Challenge
Post by: Legacy on February 19, 2012, 15:02
This will be my first Nuzlocke challenge, and was inspired by Tim and Rich with their B/W Challenge, so credits to them for me starting my own challenge. This thread will be a diary of my successes and indeed of my struggles as I step into the world of Nuzlocke. The Nuzlocke Conditions are as follows:

- Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released.
- The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances.
- All Pokemon must be nicknamed, thus creating more of a bond.
- The starter Pokemon must be with you at all times. If it ever faints, you die of heartbreak.
- Considering a black out/white out to be "game over," even if there are Pokémon left in the PC.
- Going to options and making the battle style "set". Making you unable to switch out between your foes' Pokémon.
- No catching/using of legendaries.
- Upon reaching Kanto (excluding the Pokemon League) you must build a new team starting with just your starter. Your Johto team cannot enter Kanto and vice-versa. The sole exceptions are when in the Pokemon League and at Mt. Silver.

PROLOGUE

Being a trainer was always something I strived to be. Watching everybody my age leaving to train their Totodile's, Chikorita's and Cyndaquil's among others...needless to say it was kind of hard to watch. Fortunately I wasn't alone in New Bark Town. My best friend Blake had the same problem - very strict parents.

However they couldn't stop us when we were 18.  Blake came to my house, buzzing with excitement about how he was going to get a pokemon. He'd somehow convinced his father to take him to Cherrygrove City to collect a new pokemon. Of course, I was invited. It was a pretty awesome journey on the way there. Sheer excitement and enthusiasm. Who knew that might be the last time we had that connection...

Upon arrival Blake decided to reveal something to me; he'd already gotten his pokemon. I stood in awe as he revealed the small, peach-coloured pokemon with the green leaf. A Chikorita. Lucky bugger. But then he told me how he got it...the dirty rat. I'd never have expected it...

Blake had stolen the Chikorita from Professor Elms Laboratory...he'd asked his father to drive us along to Cherrygrove so that he wouldn't be caught. In my disgust I tried to convince my friend to go back, but he wouldn't listen. He just got so agitated that he turned his back on me and left on towards the next city...needless to say I was upset. My old friend had changed...in his desperation to be a trainer he'd taken the dark route.

As I turned to walk away I found myself walking into something. Or rather, someONE. It was an elderly looking man, his face dirtied so it was impossible to see where the wrinkles ended and the dirt marks started. I apologised and was about to walk around the man, but he put his arm out to stop me. "C-can I help you sir?" What did an old man want with a teenager like myself?

"I saw all of that...your friend...you want to help him don't you? I don't need your help...but I can help you with your problem." As I looked at the man I felt a chill run down my spine. His eyes seemed to drill into mine and through to my very heart, piercing it, inspecting every minor detail. What did he mean 'help me'? My question was soon answered, as he held out a small white item. An egg. My heart skipped a beat - although even now I'm unsure if that was out of excitement, shock, or fear. "If you want to help your friend...you will need to follow him and accept what troubles will await you. I have offered you my assistance. Now I must ask if what you feel in your heart is the same as what you feel in your mind. Are you ready to face your friend and save him before he loses all sense?"

It was a tough question...I guess I never thought of pokemon training in such a way...I always thought it was an easy path. I never considered there to be a serious reason for doing so. After mulling it over I nodded. Blake clearly needed help...and only I could help him. I turned to pull my wallet from my pocket, but as soon as I'd turned to face the man again he'd gone. Looking down I saw a small white card on the floor with just one word: Nuzlocke. I pocketed the card, hoping to have somebody explain it in the future. But for now I had to try to catch up to my friend. This is where my journey began...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHAPTER 1 - First Steps

- A female Buizel hatched from the egg. Her little face deserves an elegant name, so I've named her Florence. She seems to have gotten the hang of battling already, but would still much rather play in the waters edge in Cherrygrove City. I guess it's good to have a playful pokemon since it means they're happy and comfortable.

- I took a glance back at New Bark Town. It's chaotic there because of the theft, so I didn't stay for very long. I spoke to my mother about what I was doing, and we agreed that I'd send some money to her to fall back on if I needed it. As I left New Bark Town I was jumped upon by a Pidgey. It was pretty easy to capture thanks to Florence's help. I've named him Peter. He's pretty agile much like Florence, and the two get along well.

- Surprisingly there were no other battles until I reached Cherrygrove. I healed up quickly then decided to step out to Route 30 to see what was there. Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention and knocked a Kakuna to the ground. But given how it only knew Harden, it wasn't a disaster. I decided to capture it, since I feel he could be useful later. I've named him Kyle. Unsurprisingly he doesn't move much, but hopefully he'll become more agile and powerful later. He seems happy allowing Peter and Florence to roll him between themselves for some reason.

- After some training at Route 29, Florence was beginning to grow impatient. So we headed off up towards Violet City. So far the trainers here have been easily dispatched. Probably demoralised by Blake already. Florence is surprisingly cheery. She's got me smiling at least, that's the important thing.

- Finally arrived in Violet City and we'll be taking some well deserved rest. Florence is still bouncing about but Peter and Kyle seem to be needing a nap. It's a case of the needs of the many outweigh the wants of the few, so Florence is gonna have to deal with that.

I like that last rule, I'm gonna steal that one.
Any idea what egg you will use?

I know exactly what egg I'll use, since I used Platinum to get it. It will be revealed when it hatches. I've started the story off with a Prologue, and now, without further ado, I shall begin to play =]

Thanks for the good luck.

CHAPTER 2 - Blessings and Curses

While we were resting up, I heard a story from a local storyteller about the Elder of Sprout Tower. Apparently he's able to feel bonds between trainers and pokemon. I'd been feeling unsure of my abilities, and whether I should be a trainer. I needed some kind of reassurance, so as soon as my party was ready we set off towards Sprout Tower.

- Sprout Tower is amazing. The pillar that runs through the middle sways, but it never falls. It's phenomenal, although rather creepy when that's all you can hear as you ascend through the floors. Things were running smooth as we ascended though. On the third floor we found it was infested with Rattata, although most of them fled. I say most because one stayed laid down on the floor snoozing. I tried to sneak upon it but it woke up and attacked me in surprise. Since I was already close I quickly threw a pokeball and caught it in my first try. I named her Rachel, and within seconds she was dozing off again. She's quite the sleepy one.

- Well, I reached the top mostly thanks to Peter. Florence seemed upset that she didn't battle much, but I couldn't risk losing her against those Bellsprout. What I saw next had me worried. Blake was there, and had already beaten the Elder. But the Elder seemed concerned for Blake's mental state. I hid behind the pillar and listened as the Elder told Blake that he was too pushy. I then heard Blake retort with how he only wanted strong pokemon...before I could talk some sense into him he'd fled with an escape rope.

- Peter managed to beat the Elder alone, although his Hoothoot was troublesome. Twice Peter was put to sleep, but twice he snapped out after a couple of turns and hit back for double. After the battle I was told more about Blake - he'd pushed his pokemon to the absolute limits. The Elder had been worried, and so ended the battle before it was due. I recieved the TM Flash, and was told I was on the right track before I left. Next up, Falkner.

- Wow...I guess I never expected this...I was once told that a pokemon adventure would have fun times and difficult times...just when I thought it was getting fun I was hit by my first loss, and now I understand why that old man asked me if I was truly ready. It was going well for a while. I travelled back to Dark Cave for some exploration, and caught a Zubat there which  I named Azel. Deciding to keep him back for now, I headed back to Violet City, healed up, then headed for the Gym...and that's where it happened.

The first trainer. I brought in Rachel to take on the lone Spearow. She was doing so well, had taken so little damage, and it seemed like it was a victory...but then the Spearow decided otherwise. As it used Fury Attack, I watched two critical hits land in 3 of the hits to see Rachel thrown to the ground unmoving. Neither of us saw it coming. I brought out Florence who finished the Spearow off, her Quick Attack sending feathers flying as her anger was released. I rushed Rachel back to the pokemon centre, but I knew before I got there that she was gone. Nurse Joy confirmed my fears, and allowed me to bury Rachel outside of the Pokemon Centre. May she rest well. I barely knew her, but it hurts.. I now head to train for a short while before I head into the gym again. I'm fighting right now with one thought only; Rachel's loss will not be for nothing.

- I've re-entered the gym. The trainer I beat the first time is refusing to look at me now. Whether he can tell I'm angry or if he's actually feeling guilty and apologetic...I don't care. We're here to finish off what Rachel started for us. I've started off against the second trainer here, although I'm wary of the mistakes made before. This time I used Florence. Our opponent didn't have any time to react to us. Florence took down both Pidgey's with Quick Attacks. Now for Falkner.

-  Falkner didn't last long at all. Florence was clearly in no mood to play nicely. I can tell she was hit especially hard at the loss of her newest friend, and she gave twice the pain back. Finishing Falkner's Pidgey in one Water Gun, Falkner brought in Pidgeotto. I expected this to be a tougher fight, but Florence had other ideas. She hit with a Water Gun taking a third of the Pidgeotto's health, before being hit with a Tackle. The next turn she finished it with a critical hit. Just desserts I suppose. After the battle I spoke with Falkner properly. I told him of my earlier ordeal, and of Blake's actions. Upon describing Blake, Falkner told me he'd seen him headed for Azalea Town. After I'd recieved my badge and  a TM, I left the Gym knowing my next destination.

Liking this so far. Early losses suck, but they happen. It's the later ones that sting. Just keep in mind... everything is happening for a reason. :>

CHAPTER 3 - The Road to Azalea

After our Gym battle with Falkner I decided it was best to get some sleep, especially as it was getting late. It was best for us to make a fresh start in the morning.

The morning has certainly been an interesting one already. I found Florence digging through my bag when I woke up. She was trying to get at Peter's pokeball so she could play. She's more mischievous than I thought. As I was tidying up the mess she'd made from all my other items I recieved a call from Professor Elm. He'd found out what had happened, and offered his help, telling me his assistant was at the pokemart with something for me. I mentioned the name Nuzlocke to him and he informed me of the dark pasts of those who'd gotten involved with him. I guess I should've known better. The Professor continued to tell me that he'd inform me of more details as he found them. After ending the call and getting ready for the day ahead, I headed out for my first destination of the day; the pokemart.

- Recieved an egg from Elm's assistant. I guess I can't be picky with help right now. I just hope I can raise it well enough. I've told the assistant to thank Professor Elm for me, before we both left the pokemart and headed out our separate ways.

- I headed down Route 32 in the knowledge that Azalea Town was south of Violet City. I was suddenly jumped by an Ekans. He's a smart little blighter, quickly using wrap to stop me from switching Azel out of the battle in any way. Nonetheless, Azel's Supersonic caused the snake to reduce it's health enough for me to capture it with just my last two pokeballs. I should've bought more. I've named my new team-mate Andy.

- We've travelled pretty far down Route 32 now. Having crossed a bridge with a few fisherman and turned a corner, I'm glad to have found a Pokemon Centre. While my pokemon rested I was approached by two older men. One asked me about fishing, and upon realisation that I knew nothing about the sport, he explained everything to me. He even gave me a fishing rod, albeit a very poor looking thing. The second man appears to have been a friend of the first, and he gave me some Lure Balls to go with the rod. He then informed me of a man named Kurt, who often made custom pokeballs out of apricorns. The both of them left just after that, leaving me with nothing to do but to collect my pokemon and head off again. I know I have a cave ahead of me...it could be tough in there.

- I've entered Union Cave to the sight of tracks in the walls and gouges in the roof of the cave. It wasn't long before I found out why; this was where the Hikers trained. One in particular spotted me, and challenged me. I sent out Kyle first before switching immediately to Florence, who took only a Screech before hitting back with Water Gun and finishing the Onix in one hit. After the battle I was met by something miraculous; Kyle evolved into a Beedrill! My first evolved pokemon...I'm pretty happy right about now.

- It's a strange feeling. It's as if losing Rachel has pulled my team together. Peter, Kyle and Florence have become completely inseparable, and seem to be showing Azel and Andy the ropes. Of course, Florence is making things more difficult than they have to be. But nonetheless they're working as a team. So far, Union Cave hasn't been any trouble.

- I've finally reached Azalea Town, although not before catching a Hoppip that was hopelessly splashing in the rain on the outskirts of town. I named her Katie. She's now in my PC.

It turns out there's more trouble here than there is back home. I've just seen some guy dressed in black push one of the townspeople away from the well. I've also heard rumours about the Slowpoke disappearing in the town, and about a group cutting off their tails. I've spoken to a couple of people and they've told me to speak to Kurt, who apparently is also one of the older and tougher members of the towns community. That's twice I've heard his name mentioned now, so I'll be paying him a visit after a short break in the pokemon centre.

^yeah, Florence is adorable; especially rifling through your bag to get Peter xD <3

The first loss is the most remembered one, though it has little impact...why do we put ourselves through these Nuzlocke challenges!? xD

Also, I don't know if you're only using the Buizel metasprite because me and Rich have only used that - but the reason for that is because there are no Gen V metasprites. So you could easily use metasprites for the rest of your team?

I should give that a kick actually...we kinda need Gen V stuffz.

But yes, good luck with Bugsy! Watch out for his infernal Scyther. ;_;

No actually I chose to use a metagame sprite because it actually has a nice effect to it, given how Florence is the starter and all, and if I lose her I die of heartbreak. That's the only reason I used a metagame sprite for her and not for the others =]

I'm quite happy with my choce of starter. I've never used Buizel before so thought it would be good =] I'm glad you find her as adorable as I do hahaha.

Ahh, I see. I know exactly what you mean, it was one of those "actually, that kinda works" moments with Claude the Corphish - giving him center stage, almost.

Buizel is such a lovely Pokemon - I didn't like it gen IV, as its sprite was pretty huge - but its BW sprite is so d'aw. <3

Not so much a fan of Floatzel. <--Requesting you don't evolve Florence.

...just saw what you did there. Florence the Floatzel. niiiiice. =D

CHAPTER 4 - Team Rocket and the Great Bug Out

I've met that old guy Kurt. Given his age he's actually quite the tough guy. I wouldn't cross him I know that for certain. I mentioned about the Slowpoke and the group wondering around the town like they owned the place and the next thing I know he's pretty much declaring war against the entire group on his own. I don't know if that's bravery or stupidity right now. His grandaughter approached me just after he left and asked me to follow to make sure he was ok. I'm assuming he's headed to the well, which appears to be the place the group are doing their deeds. I'd best get on down there I guess.

- Upon reaching the well one thing was clear; Kurt had obviously managed to get in. The guard was nowhere to be seen. However I could hear a dull groaning from the bottom of the well, so I decided to descend. Now I've reached the bottom and found out who was groaning. Kurt had slipped during his descent, and had landed hard on his back. He seemed ok, but he was quite slow moving, so I offered to deal with whoever this group was in his place. In return, if I succeeded, he agreed to inform me on this group and make pokeballs for me. With that in mind, I've stepped into the depths of the well.

The first thing I'm met by is the mere size of the group that were there. In total there were four, one of which I've recognised as the guard from the top. Two others are in similar clothing, but the last looks to be a higher up. Upon seeing me the grunts have decided to attack. They aren't too much of an issue, since they are using a mixture of Zubats, Ekans' and Rattata's, all of which I'd dealt with before. However I do seem to be getting their commander worked up. Good. He's next.

- Executive Proton he was called. I say was because I beat him already. Peter and Florence were outstanding. Peter easily dispatched his Zubat with just a couple of Quick Attacks. I had to pull him out against Proton's Koffing though after he was poisoned. I'm not risking losing Peter. I sent Florence in to dispose of the Koffing, of which she did admirably with a couple of Water Guns. Before he left Proton warned me to be afraid of what was to come. If I'm honest, I can't get any more afraid right now than I already am.

Kurt managed to come in after Proton and his thugs left, and I've assisted him back to his home. He's told me that Proton is an Executive of Team Rocket, a group of thugs that will do anything for money. They were apparently disbanded by a boy called Red three years ago, but seem to be on the uprise again. After that talk he tells me he's more than happy to make pokeballs for me, before he goes to cheer his grandaughter up; she was pretty worried about him. I decide to leave Kurt's house and head to the pokemon centre. Peter needs healing from the poison. After this I guess it's time for the Gym...if it's anything like my first one then I'm dreading it...

- What is it about Gyms and critical hits? So far, having beaten all the trainers, I've been hit by 8 critical hits, 3 of them on Peter. He was left at minimal HP at one point, but managed to pull through with a Quick Attack next turn to end the battle. I've quickly rushed off to heal before I take on Bugsy. He's going to be tough I know that...so I'm going to head to Route 33 and train a little before I take him on.

Oh yeah, here's a shocker - the egg hatched. The pokemon inside was a Togepi, whom I named Toby. I've put him in the PC until after I've battled Bugsy. The last thing I want is to lose Toby shortly after his birth.

- The training was most definitely worthwhile. My pokemon are well levelled now, and on top of that, Peter evolved. Florence is struggling to adjust to the change in size of one of her closest friends. I'll be off against Bugsy shortly, feeling rather confident in my team.

- So here it is, me versus Bugsy. He opened up with Scyther, something I haven't battled yet. Looking at it's scythes, I know for a fact we're in for a rough time. I wasn't wrong at all. Scyther opened up with Leer on Peter, who simply whirlwinded the Scyther away. In came Kakuna, who was dealt with easily. When Scyther came back in, Peter reduced it's accuracy drastically with three sand attacks. In that time it was only able to get Focus Energy up. And then I switched in Andy. I guess this I should've seen it coming after what happened to Rachel. Andy reduced the Scyther's attack with Intimidate. Then the next turn, Scyther hit with a Quick Attack...a critical hit which sent Andy sprawled out to the floor, his life taken before he'd had a chance to register what had happened. My blood boiled as I brought Peter back in. The sight of his lost friend seemed to spur Peter on, turning him destructive. He demolished Bugsy's remaining pokemon in two Critical Hits with Gust. But that doesn't make the pain of losing Andy any easier. As I accepted the badge and TM89 from Bugsy, Florence gave the Scyther one last kick, before we leave the Gym with Andy in my arms. I buried Andy outside Slowpoke Well. Kurt helped me with the burial. Afterall, it was there that Andy gained a lot of his strength during my training before I took on Bugsy. May he rest in peace there.

We've now headed to the pokemon centre for a while. Andy's loss seems to have hit Peter hard. He hasn't eaten since we got back. Those two must've been closer than I realised. I just hope he can get his head around it and move on along with the rest of us, because he's going to be just as instrumental in our struggle now as ever.

Kurt told me that he'd seen some guy with red hair pass through a couple of times...it must be Blake. So I'm planning to intercept him the next time he passes through.

Crits are horrible :(

Chapter 5 will be up tomorrow =]

Also, if you're all in agreement with it, I'm considering making a minor exception to rule 2. Only in the Bug-Catching Contest and the Safari Zone (once the badge in the nearest city is won) is it possible to choose which pokemon you capture. However you may still only capture ONE (this means if I catch a Caterpie in the bug-catching contest, I must end the contest immediately with said Caterpie). If you're in agreement with this then this rule will be added. If not then this rule will NOT be added. It's that simple =]

Doesn't seem in the Nuzlocke spirit to ever make an exception to rule 2. If Nuzlocke wants you to have a grand bug to beat the Bug Catching Contest, that is the first thing you will find. :>

Personally, I think it's more fun to go completely by the nuzlocke rules. That way, you end up training some really weird stuff you would never have thought of getting. I mean, I never would have thought I'd have been training a Stunfisk - and finding it good ingame! But Avalon did. Maybe you'll catch something crazy like a Sunkern and it'll be ~amazing~ and you'll wuv sunkern for ever?

But either way, it's your run through man, it's your call. =]

postsniped - I agree with Rich =P

I agree with the others, it is better if you dont. To me, one of the points of the Nuzlocke is that you get pushed into training and using a team you usually wouldn't, and for me that has worked it well in the past(I love girafarig now, that wouldn't have happened if not for the Nuzlocke run).
So I think it would count as cheating to do that, especially the safari zone... But your rules, if you feel it is close enough to the rules, it is up to you

You keep using that word 'cheating' XD It's hardly cheating if it's my run through haha

But I'm agreed, it was just something I thought I'd ask about since I'm nearing that stage. As peryour instruction, the rule will remain intact.

Sorry, I didn't mean cheating in a bad way, but in my eyes, breaking/bending/ altering the rules (regardless of whose rules they are) is called cheating. Sorry if the way I worded it isn't pleasing too you... Plus you are talking to altering one of the 2 permanent rules of a Nuzlocke trial, so if you call it one, people can call it cheating if you break/alter those 2rules
Finally read my whole post. I say it is up to you

Sorry for the delay on this one. I've been away for a few days =] Anyway, without further ado:

CHAPTER 5 - Contrasts and Mazes
Peter has begun eating again now. He took some convincing, but Florence and Kyle seem to have perked him up a little thankfully. It's odd how three very different pokemon have become so close so quickly. I really hope I don't lose any of those three...anyway, I've now left the pokemon centre and I'm waiting at the entrance to Ilex Forest to see if Blake shows. Apparently, according to Kurt, he arrived at 2PM yesterday, so I'm hoping to catch him here at the same time...

- Well, I was waiting for a while but he turned up. He seems different again...confident and cocky as always, but not in his usual way. He keeps stating how he hates weak trainers. And the fact he added me to that...well, it was clear he isn't in his right mind. We battled, and I won with ease thanks to Florence and Peter. But it wasn't enough...he's rushed on ahead now, leaving me behind again. I'm going to heal up then follow him. It's gonna be tough. Ilex Forest is like a maze.

- I've entered the forest, and the first pokemon I'm met by is a Paras. I bring in Azel and capture it easily. I named my new found friend Patrick, then sent him off to the PC. Now I have to get a couple of Farfetch'd back for a guy who'd managed to lose them. Fun times. It seems they're sensitive to movement, so I'm trying to find a route where I don't step on too many fallen branches. Why he can't grab them himself I don't know, but I may as well help as I'm here, since I can't get through the forest without HM Cut...

- Well that was fairly easy.  Got some good training for Toby as I ran around tricking those Farfetch'd and to top it off, I was given HM01 Cut, which will allow me to head northwards, where I'm assuming Blake was headed. He's had a fair headstart though...I hope I can catch up to him sooner rather than later. Back on the topic of Toby, he seems to have fit into the role Andy left behind very well. He's levelled well already, and he's actually helping others to level up too. The real odd thing though is how similar to Andy he really is...he's just as docile, and actually very relaxed. I think Peter has noticed it was well, and it's had a good effect on him.

- Travelling from Ilex Forest to Goldenrod City was surprisingly difficult and I've begun to realise just how difficult this challenge is. My team struggled against some of the trainers who were using electric types; a curse of having to capture only one pokemon I suppose. I caught a Drowzee on this route and named her Dorothy. She seems relatively relaxed, but she really isn't a good battler.

- Wow...from one maze to another. Goldenrod City is huge. I've been around a few times now and I'm still nearly getting lost as I go. I entered the Dept. Store earlier, and that's pretty huge as well...while I was there I found a trainer who offered to trade Dorothy for his Machop. I had to think for a while, but Dorothy answered for me when she burst from her pokeball. I don't think she was getting along with the others. I now have a Machop named Muscle, and I've grown really attached to the...girl? Well I guess she doesn't mind the name. She's playful, and seems to enjoy playing around with Florence. I've seen the two play-fighting on numerous occasions already.

- I'm certain I met that old man again...I entered the game corner and played Voltorb Flip for a while...that game is addictive. I racked up a good number of coins and headed to the table to claim a prize. But when I was there I got a strange chill right through me. There was only one man at the table, who told me to sit. He then placed down three cards, ordering me to choose one at random. Upon choosing one he looked at it and handed me a pokeball. I took it from him and placed my coins on the table, to find he was gone, replaced by two different men. On the table was another card; exactly like the one I found in Cherrygrove City. I looked at the card in more detail, and it shows two pokemon on it - Rachel and Andy...he's watching my every move isn't he?

I left the game corner and opened the pokeball. Looks like I picked a good card because out popped a Dratini. I named her Dana. She's a bit...hyper to say the least. She keeps thrashing about like nobodies business. Toby seems to find her highly interesting at least.

- I've headed to the Radio Tower next. They had this competition on to win a radio card for my pokegear. The questions were relatively easy though, so how someone else hasn't won the competition I'll never know. While I was there I met a girl. No, not in that way...I mean the gym leader Whitney. She applauded me on winning the competition, then headed off to the Gym...I'm assuming she's waiting for me there, so I'm off to change my team around and begin training...my experiences with gyms tell me this is NOT going to be a fun time...

I'd just like to say, had I not caught Drowzee I couldn't have traded, so I was lucky there. The Game Corner was also done strictly on luck using a random number generator;
1 = Abra, 2 = Sandshrew, 3 = Dratini. I got a three. I actually wanted a two, but no complaints really.

CHAPTER 6 - The many oddities of girls and trees

After a short amount of training I feel we're ready to take on the Goldenrod City Gym. Despite our past pain and suffering, with the new additions of Muscle and Dana, I'm feeling quietly confident about challenging Whitney.

- We entered the gym and with Muscle alongside me, we completely took the trainers by storm. It was odd battling in a gym with all girls...they're a very flirtatious bunch. I think they were attempting to put me off though, since their scowls afterwards were rather darker than the smiles they had when I entered the gym. Not long now...just Whitney to go.

- Whitney got lucky early on, her first Metronome move being a Sleep Powder. While Muscle was asleep though she didn't do very much, which I'm thankful for. But now it's Miltank...seeing it...I was actually dreading it now. And rightfully so. Her opening Stomp attack made Muscle flinch. The second hit didn't though, and Muscle hit back with Karate Chop; but the move that had knocked down every other pokemon in the gym in one hit seemed to barely scratch the cow-like pokemon...but I can't give in this easily. There had to be a way to break through. Muscle used Low Kick next. Should've used it the first time. Miltank's weight caused it to crash to the ground hard, finishing the job without us really stepping out of second gear. When I went to retrieve my badge though Whitney was...crying? Oh god...

- I felt horrible. In a way I wanted to cry with her, but for a very different reason of course...at least her pokemon could be revived...
As I prepared to leave without my badge a trainer stopped me and hugged me tight. She informed me that Whitney would be fine, and one day so would I. I guess I showed a bit of emotion in here. It made me feel unbelievably awkward actually. I managed to get free of the grip and the trainer told me to speak to Whitney.
Doing as I was told - I couldn't have left since they'd blocked the door - I returned to Whitney. She seemed to calm down quite quickly, and even spoke to me about another trainer she'd battle recently. The way he acted sounded an awful lot like Blake...so I told her my story,  about Andy and Rachel, and she seemed shocked...I guess she'd never expected it. Anyway I've left now after she gave me my badge and a talk about how things will probably get harder. I don't plan on going back for a while. I started to feel more and more feminine in that building...

- I was stopped again by a girl as I headed towards the pokemon center. Am I suddenly attracting every girl in the city? Wishful thinking maybe since she simply gave me a watering can of some description and informed me of a strange tree north of Goldenrod City. I guess she wants a favour...beating Whitney seems to have made me a hit with the locals...or maybe it's just the girls? Damn I need to stop thinking about girls...I blame Whitney. She must've used that TM on me...

- As I headed northwards I was stopped by several trainers. I decided Dana and Florence could do with some exercise, and they certainly didn't let me down. I'm proud of them. Dana is really fitting in well now. As I continued a blue rodent-esque pokemon jumped out at me sticking it's tongue out and rolling about. It was a female Nidoran, and it seemed to enjoy playing about. It seems to enjoy keeping us entertained. I caught her and named her Nina.

- I was stopped again as I was nearing the National Park. There was some sort of a bug-catching contest going on. I had no choice but to wait, so I decided to enter myself and see what it was like. But it looks like the same rules apply here as in the rest of my journey; one chance to catch one pokemon...the first one I found was a Caterpie. Using Dana I paralysed it. But it seemed not to care and dozed off anyway. I caught her and named her Catherine. I was surprised to come second in the contest. I was beaten only by a Scyther...speaks volumes I guess. Catherine hasn't changed since I caught her. She spends most, if not all of her time asleep.

- That strange tree? It was a pokemon, and jeez was it a tough one. I nearly lost Florence to an instant Low Kick critical hit, so I immediately switched to Muscle. One Low Kick from her pulled the Sudowoodo's health down low, and then I caught it in a Great Ball. It turns out that the Sudowoodo was a female, and so I named her Sally. I swear she's almost exactly like Catherine...there must be something around the north of Goldenrod that causes pokemon to doze off or something. I must've woken her up with that Squirtbottle which is why she lashed out.

- Continuing north I found a pokemon I'd only seen once before; Ledyba. I remember battling it at Azalea. This was an easy capture, since it seemed to be more curious of what I was doing rather than objecting to it. I caught her (another female? Whitney must've done SOMETHING...) and named her Leanne. A short distance ahead was Ecruteak City, and I took the opportunity to rest up.

CHAPTER 7 - Spirits of Past and Present

Upon entering Ecruteak City I could feel something was off. There was a crowd outside of what must've been some kind of an important building, and a crowd usually means something exciting or something troubling. After healing my pokemon, I decided to head in and investigate. Afterall, anything I find may lead me to Blake or to this 'Nuzlocke' character...

- Upon entering the Kimono Dance Theatre I saw a familiar sight; a Team Rocket grunt causing issues and seemingly mocking the dancer. Seeing how no-one stepped in to help, I took it upon myself to do so - I'm not quite sure why i was helping...As per usual though, the grunt was put down quite quickly. What's troubling me is how he mentioned 'plans' before he left...are Team Rocket planning something bigger than what I saw at the Slowpoke Well?

After helping the dancer she informed me of another young man she'd seen entering Ecruteak City about an hour before. The description was what I'd expected; red hair, dark clothing, bad attitude and a cold, dark feel about him. It was Blake without a doubt. She informed me he'd headed to the Burnt Tower to the west.

- I found Blake exactly where I'd expected to. But it seems he was intentionally waiting for me. I think I'm losing him more and more as time goes on. When I spoke out about him changing he punched me...he's never done that. He then released his Gastly from it's pokeball. I wasn't taking his nonsense anymore. Clearly I've lost the Blake I once knew, and I had to play his way if I was to get him back.

The battle that ensued was vicious. I nearly lost Toby AND Dana due to being confused, cursed, or just being out-stalled by Blake's Bayleef, who used Synthesis and Reflect to great effect. Thankfully though I outwitted him. I brought in Kyle, and had him use Rock Smash a few times. Then as soon as Reflect faded, I hit with U-Turn. Thanks to the defence drops, it took down Bayleef in one hit. Upon my victory I looked up to see Blake seemingly uncaring for what had happened. He shoved past me, causing me to fall down the gap in the floorboards and crash to the floor.

Kyle followed behind me, and hovered beside me as I stood. My eyes had to adjust for a moment, but when I saw what was stood before me I shivered in shock and anticipation; three large, dog-like pokemon stood before me, one red, one yellow and one blue. The red and yellow one fled...but the blue one...it seemed to look deep into me, almost knowingly, before he followed suit...the moment it locked eyes with me...I now know that this pokemon - who a man named Eusine informed me was called Suicune - is something else I'm going to need to follow. I feel Suicune holds some more answers to my ever-increasing number of questions. As I left I returned Kyle to his pokeball and met up with Florence again; she'd been unable to reach me when I fell. She was too busy sniffing around at first to notice me, but upon realisation she rushed up to me, nearly tackling me straight back down through the floorboards again. I'm glad she didn't. I still have a headache from falling down the first time.

- After healing up we've headed back to the Burnt Tower. It wasn't long before we found a Koffing (female, again). The Koffing was looking around at an item on the ground. Taking the opportunity, I threw a pokeball at her. One, two...yup three shakes and then it was still. I named my new-found friend 'Wyn'.  I then picked up the item that Wyn had been looking at; it was a HP up. I've ended up using it on Toby, since he could do with the HP boost. After we've trained him up a little here we'll be headed towards the Gym, with Toby taking the lead.

- Ghost types. I guess Toby was the smartest option, but boy are they a pain in the ass. The main issue was that every trainer I fought used Mean Look, followed by Confuse Ray and then Curse. Toby had a tough time fighting out of the confusion a lot of the time. I had an opportunity to switch against the last trainer, and so I brought in Florence. I nearly regretted it, as the trainer pulled the same trick again, but this time had Night Shade on her side. Florence struggled against the confusion, and eventually I had to call an all or nothing Pursuit. If Florence missed or hurt herself, it was the end, since her Curse or Gastly's Night Shade would finish her. As I watched my Buizel prepare, she suddenly seemed to snap out of confusion and took down the Gastly in one hit, ending the battle with no more damage done. I quickly rushed to the pokemon centre to ensure she was ok and I'm now taking a short break before taking on Morty. Florence is currently curled up in my lap, exhausted. I gave her an Everstone after the battle and even in her sleep she's still clutching at it despite it being on a ribbon around her neck. Peter and Kyle are stood either side of me, although I'm not sure if it's me they're protecting or if it's Florence. I've never seen three completely different pokemon be so close to one another. It's nice. Toby is busy running after Dana who just seems to be enjoying thrashing about on the floor aimlessly. Muscle on the other hand is currently helping the staff, picking up tables and cleaning under them. Such a strange assortment of personalities...and yet they all seem to fit together really well.

- Morty. I expected him to be difficult. He really wasn't. I used Toby as planned, but he was put to sleep twice by Haunter. I woke him both times with Awakening, preventing the Haunter from using Dream Eater. Toby then followed up with Yawn, putting the Haunter to sleep while his opponent missed twice with Hypnosis. I then ordered Toby to hit with Extrasensory. Haunter didn't last long...in fact, none of Morty's pokemon were able to stop Toby from repeating the same procedure on them. Only his final Haunter was able to hurt Toby, and that was through Curse. With Toby taking all the experience, he evolved into a Togetic, becoming only my SECOND evolved pokemon.

When I recieved my Badge Morty's eyes seemed to glaze over. He told me that Rachel and Andy were watching over me, that even now they were stood beside me, Florence and Toby. When his eyes came back to focus he gave me my badge and the TM Shadow Ball, and informed me that Nuzlocke was indeed watching my every move, although where he was watching from was unknown. I thanked Morty and returned Toby to his pokeball, before Florence and I left. Our next aim I believe is either Olivine City to the west, or Mahogany Town to the east. I guess that's a decision I'll make while we take a short rest.

((Double posting purely due to the length of the posts))

I'll warn you now, this is a sad chapter. Have your handkerchiefs/tissues at the ready...

CHAPTER 8 - The Light in Dark Times - Part 1

After our break I opened up my map and began to look at which route to take. After a few moments Florence joined in and jabbed her paw at Olivine City on the map, so I'm assuming that's where she wanted to go. I wasn't going to argue with her, since she'd made my decision easier. So off we go, to Olivine City.

- First thing I was met by as I left Ecruteak City was what appeared to be a magnet. However when I went to pick it up I felt a shock through my body and fell backwards. The magnet was actually a Magnemite! How did I not know this? I released Kyle from his pokeball, and he instantly hit the Magnemite with a Rock Smash, taking a thundershock from the magnet pokemon as if it were nothing. He then followed up with U-turn, allowing me to switch in Dana, who took another Thundershock with ease. With it's health low, I threw a pokeball and caught the Magnemite, which I named Marshall.

- Kyle...I'm so, so sorry...I let you down...

As we ran through the grass we were met by a Raticate. Kyle used Rock Smash, and was met by a Hyper Fang. The attack took a lot of health off, so I attempted to switch him out. But the Raticate was merciless. He took Kyle down with Pursuit, ending my friend's life before he reached the safety of his pokeball. Florence was the one to step up to the field, and Peter burst from his pokeball too as if to support Florence immediately if she needed it. She didn't though, using Surf to completely destroy the Raticate. Afterwards I took Kyle to a tree in Bellchime Trail and buried him beside it. I've been sat here beside him for a little while now, with Florence and Peter on either side of me. We're like a family mourning for a lost brother...Peter seems to be the stronger one now. Florence is cuddled into me. She hasn't stopped crying since we got here. I suppose we should leave soon...

- Today is not a good day. Marshall and Nina have just been added to my list of lost friends. Marshall fell while battling against a Sailor as we neared Olivine City. Neither of us expected his Krabby to fire off a Mud Shot...with a 4x weakness, Marshall stood no chance. I switched in Dana who dealt with the Krabby, while Muscle beat the Sailor's Raticate. We headed back to MooMoo Farm, and I was allowed to bury Marshall there. Losing a close friend hurt so much, but losing a new friend just made things a lot worse and more painful. But it wasn't over yet. As I trained Nina in the hopes of trying to rebuild my team, she was knocked out in one hit by a critical hit Thundershock from a wild Magnemite just a few metres from where Marshall fell. I took her back to Moomoo Farm but the farmer there confirmed what I'd thought for the second time...I'd just lost my third friend in one day.

As we continued I found a Meowth. With losing three pokemon so close together, I just KNOW I'm going to need to catch some more. I caught him and named him Dylan, similar to my mother's old Persian Delilah. Call it a memory I'd like to bring back that might help me get through today...

- Olivine City...who knew the short journey here would be so rough? Upon our arrival we saw Blake. Rather than battling this time though, he made a joke at a pokemon's expense. There was a sick pokemon at the top of the lighthouse, and the Olivine City Gym Leader was up there with it. He then left with his usual shove past me. I pressed onto the pokemon centre and took some time to rest up and get my head together. We'll be off to the Lighthouse soon to see how we can help that sick pokemon...I've lost five of my own pokemon already, and I wouldn't forgive myself if that sick pokemon died while knowing I could've and should've helped it. Before I leave, I'll be taking Dylan out of the PC to fill my sixth slot.

- I'm on the edge of madness...Dylan...why now? I barely knew you...

Another critical hit, this time from a Pidgey using Quick Attack...Dylan never stood a chance...I just don't know what to do anymore. Whenever I start to bond with my pokemon I begin to lose them. And yet somehow Florence is keeping me going. As we buried Dylan outside of the lighthouse, Florence looked up at me and poked my cheek, before looking up at the Lighthouse itself. She's right I guess...we need to keep moving forward. I quickly returned to the Pokemon Centre to withdraw Catherine the Caterpie, and then headed onwards and upwards in the Lighthouse. But in the back of my mind I'm in agony. Our losses on this journey have tripled in one day...

- I've finally reached the top (during which time Catherine evolved twice to become a Butterfree), and I've met a girl named Jasmine and an Ampharos nicknamed Amphy. Jasmine has confirmed that Amphy is the sick pokemon. She's trying so hard to keep it going...but she doesn't have the medicine that's needed. Apparently the medicine needed is stocked only on Cianwood City, which is on an island on the other side of the ocean. I can't let this girl and her pokemon down...I don't think my pokemon would allow me to, especially with how Florence looked up at me, as if expecting me to offer to cross the ocean. With a sigh I did exactly that. I've never seen someone smile so much at something I've said before...I sure as hell can't let Jasmine down now. Apparently there is a Gym at Cianwood as well, so I could probably get the badge there while I'm at it.

My team headed down the Lighthouse again and are now resting up for a short while before we begin our journey across the ocean. But a part of me is dreading the journey...how many more pokemon can I lose?

Thanks for the feedback guys =] Got a somewhat short chapter now, but it's a chapter nonetheless

CHAPTER 9 - Fighting through the Haze

After our nightmare time in the Lighthouse, i felt if we left for Cianwood straight away...well we may not make it back. We rested overnight, and now I'm feeling considerably better and more confident. Losing those pokemon yesterday has made my pokemon that little bit more adamant about the task ahead. Peter and Florence in particular seem focussed today. They were awake before I was. We've headed to the beach outside of Olivine City now...now to make our way to Cianwood City...

- The journey itself wasn't too difficult, aside from the mass amount of Tentacool and Tentacruel. But there again it has allowed for a good amount of training. Toby in particular has gained a lot from it. On the way I heard about the Gym Leader at Cianwood City. His name is Chuck, and he uses Fighting Types. This means I'm gonna need Peter and Toby in particular to cause more damage.

- Upon arrival at Cianwood City I did the most important thing first - healed up, then headed to the local pharmacy to obtain the medicine. Upon speaking to the Pharmacist, he seemed deeply concerned about the Lighthouse pokemon. As I prepared to leave, he advised me to battle Chuck as soon as possible. Doing so would allow me to use HM Fly, which he then informed me would be given to me by Chuck's wife. With Fly I can get back to Olivine much faster than if we surfed back again, so I'm going to train some more and then head out.

- The trainers in the gym are powerful. I so nearly lost both Toby and Peter while battling them. In fact, had it not been for the fact most of the pokemon were slower than my flying duo, I probably would have lost both of them. I've decided it's best to train a little longer against the pokemon in the ocean around the city.

- I just saw that pokemon again. Suicune. It's so majestic...it just looked deep into me and my soul just felt frozen, but yet at ease. Suicune fled, and Eusine turned up again. He asked for a battle to see why Suicune chose me, and I had no choice but to oblige. He was fairly easy to deal with though, and was dealt with by Florence and Toby with next to no issues. Eusine seems to know more than he's letting on...he left without much else said, other than that he was following Suicune. I've decided to set the thoughts to the back of my mind until after I've battled Chuck.

- Chuck...he's a crafty bugger. He opened up with Primeape, so I opened up with Peter, using Featherdance three times to greatly reduce his attack. However in that time he used 3 double teams...before hitting with Focus Punch. Thankfully, the attack drops reduced the strength considerably, and Peter was fine. I switched in Dana and hit with a Thunderwave first time, before then switching to Toby. Toby was hit by Rock Slide on the switch, but he remained unfazed. The attack drops had turned out to be crucial. Toby then began hitting with Extrasensory, healing with Roost when it was needed (since the evasion increases were a bit of a pain). Within a short time Toby had dealt with the Primeape. Next up was Poliwrath. He opened up with Hypnosis, which failed. Toby got him back with Yawn. The next turn Poliwrath attempted to use Focus Punch, but Toby hit with Extrasensory to stop the attack. The remaining turns were simple for Toby. With Poliwrath asleep, Toby simply had to hit with Extrasensory repeatedly until it fell. And that was that. I'd obtained my 5th badge, and was now able to head back to Olivine city with the Fly HM. But I'm more thankful that I hadn't lost anybody here in Cianwood City.

Without any further ado, I have headed back towards Olivine City on the back of Peter. Once we arrive I can give that medicine to Jasmine for Amphy, and that's one less worry for me. Florence is sat in front of me - I think she's shocked at how high up she is...although I'm having to keep a tight grip on her. She keeps leaning over the side to look down, and I keep seeing a glint in her eye, as if she wants to drop into the ocean below.

Oh, chapter 8 was horrible. The hardest part of a loss is that it is so hard to make up for it, you lose even more Pokemon attempting to. Chap 9 was nice though.

It's been a while since I've posted, but here is Chapter 10. I apologise for the wait, college has kept me busy.

CHAPTER 10 - The Light in Dark Times - Part 2

Olivine City. The very city I lost Dylan, and the city I was headed towards when I lost Kyle, Nina and Marshall. I can't help but feel a tinge of anger and sorrow as I see the shore in the distance. But I have to bite it back and carry on. I have to get this medicine to Amphy, and then continue my journey to get Blake back...

- Well, we've arrived. Florence seems eager to get up the Lighthouse and deliver the medicine. I think she loves the view at the top. We've headed off there immediately. Afterall, we can't leave that poor pokemon waiting for too much longer. Thankfully there are no battles this time around, since we're using the elevator. Florence seems to be ever intrigued by the elevator as well. She flopped down inside it and attempted to stretch her body from one side to the other.

- Amphy looks so much better now. Jasmine had to give the Ampharos the medicine we got, since it clearly didn't trust us despite our efforts. As I was preparing to leave, Jasmine stopped me and turned me around. She's the gym leader of Olivine City, and she told me she'd be waiting for me at the gym. Well, at least I know what I'm up against now. If she cares for her pokemon like she cares for Amphy, it's going to be tough.

When we finally left I recieved a phonecall from Baoba, the Safari Warden. He's set up a Safari Zone near Cianwood City, and has asked that I go and take a look around. The way I see it, it gives me a chance to train on the way there, and to possibly catch more pokemon.

 - The trainers between Cianwood City and the Safari Zone are surprisingly tough. We've managed to beat them though, before surfing and meeting a new pokemon I hadn't yet seen; A Seel. It seemed considerably weaker than the rest of my team, so I brought in Toby and used Yawn followed by Sweet Kiss. Once it was asleep I threw a Great Ball, catching it with ease. I've found out it's a girl, and is very much like Florence - very mischievous. I named her Sasha. I had both of them playing around with my bag, pulling out items and bouncing them between the two of them.

- Caught another pokemon near the Safari Zone, on the route after catching Sasha. This time it was a Tauros, and it was adamant that I fought it; I couldn't get away. After a close fought battle against Florence it finally submitted. I named him Zac. Shortly afterwards while training Florence some more, I caught her humming and singing to herself. It's the first time she's ever done it. I feel oddly priviliged.

- Just when I was looking to the future...I lost Dana. It was against a Fearow as I was headed to heal my team. I attempted to switch Dana out, but the Fearow hit with Pursuit...and obtained a critical hit in doing so. Dana didn't even make it to the pokeball as she fell lifeless to the ground. Zac dealt with the damned bird. I then headed to Cianwood again and buried her beside the sea so that she could hear the waves. I've now returned to training with the others. Florence and Peter seem determined nowadays even despite the loss, and so I must be too. We'll miss you Dana, but we'll keep on going. For you, and for the others...

Losing Dana on my first day back to the Nuzlocke was a bit of a smack to the face. It was like 'Welcome back, did you miss me?' from Nuzlocke -__-

Sasha seems to be fitting in well. My worry atm is that my team is VERY weak to electric, and seeing as how Jasmine has two magnemite, I'm preparing heavily before going up against her.

You could start off with Muscle to take them down, then just switch to Florence or Sasha for Steelix?
Title: Re: Nathan's Soulsilver Nuzlocke Challenge
Post by: Legacy on July 06, 2012, 11:33
@K.I.O.S - That was my plan, although it changed a little as you're about to see.

CHAPTER 11 - A Renewed Sense of Purpose

After some intense training following the loss of Dana, my team and I feel we're ready for whatever Jasmine has to throw at us. However I'm still worried about my glaringly obvious electric weakness; if she decides to use that Ampharos, we're in trouble. As I stand outside of the gym I'm starting to prepare myself for both the best...and potentially the worst.

- Well this is new. The Gym Trainers haven't challenged me. It seems they appreciate the help I gave Jasmine and Amphy. At least that's one less thing to worry about here.

- So...so close. Muscle took on both Magnemite with very little problem, although I had to heal her with a Moomoo milk afterwards. Steelix hit with a Rock Throw, but Muscle hardly flinched. We were in with a chance. I ordered Muscle to use Revenge in order to ensure she'd plough through the Steelix...I underestimated my poor run of luck. A critical hit Iron Tail sent Muscle sprawling to the floor. Before she fell, I swear I saw the faintest of smiles aimed at me. Never have I seen such a powerful pokemon completely wiped out...why Muscle? She may not have been mine to begin with, but I'd grown to love her as much as the others regardless...

I couldn't stop the battle, although Jasmine offered as she looked between myself and Muscle. I sent out Florence, and she knew what to do, finishing the Steelix off quickly with two Surf attacks. I think Jasmine made it easy on me though, since between the two Surfs all she used was Screech...

After the battle, Jasmine came over and told me a story about other trainers she'd met overseas in a place called Unova. Two trainers trapped in the same hellish experience I'm currently living through. She told me how, despite their pain, the two overcame the experience. So...there really is an end to this? Following the story, she handed me a badge and a TM for Iron Tail...ironic how it was the move that finished Muscle. She also gave me permission to bury Muscle outside of the Lighthouse, in memory of everything she'd done and what we as a team had achieved and been through here in Olivine City.As I look up, I see Amphy's light shining over me. After a few moments, I finally make my move away from Olivine City, and onwards to Mt. Mortar and Mahogany Town.

- I feel Florence tug at my leg and she points at a card on the ground. I know what it is before I even pick it up; A Nuzlocke Card. On it is the list of pokemon I've lost so far...8. 8 of my friends. Some I'd only just met, some I was just getting to know...and others...Kyle...Dana...Muscle...three pokemon I'd travelled with from Goldenrod City...my closest friends. I'll never forget you.

- Mt. Mortar. It's an interesting place to me, there's no denying that. As we entered, I could hear the faint sound of rumbling. As we got closer, it was clear that the crashing was the sound of the waterfall in front of us. It's oddly soothing.
As we travelled through the caves, we were met by - or rather we tripped over  -  a Geodude. With the knowledge that I'd lost 6 pokemon since Ecruteak, and with the fact that it was enraged, I sent in Zac to pull it's health down before catching it. I called my new friend Gary. It's strange; he's quite a relaxed little rock, but is somewhat quick-tempered.

- Before leaving Mt. Mortar, we decided to take a short rest beside the waterfall. Florence was completely intrigued by it, her ears twitching at the sound. I guess it's a result of her being a water-type. Zac meanwhile was stood beside me, watching the cave entrance closely. I think he's realised that, with Muscle gone, he's the most physically powerful in my team.

- Leaving Mt. Mortar I saw a lot of grass. With my thoughts solely on replenishing my team, I walked in, in search of a new friend and partner. What I met surprised me. A Mareep came running up to me, tackled me to the ground and stole my bag! I quickly released Zac and the second time around, Zac lashed out with an Iron Tail, knocking the Mareep back and causing it to drop my bag. I quickly fumbled around and threw the first pokeball I could find; a Great Ball. Thankfully it was successful. With my team being weak to Electric and to Ice, I decided to replace Gary with our new member, Lucy the Mareep.

- Mahogany Town...it feels eerie...there's something going on here. I've heard rumours of Team Rocket being around here, and about some trouble occurring at the Lake of Rage...I'm willing to bet all my money that this isn't just some coincidence.

As I headed up toward the Lake of Rage, another pokemon popped up. A Venonat. I made light work of this one, getting Zac to hit with a quick Payback before catching the bug pokemon. I named him Luke. He's a bit of a loner sometimes and, like Gary, has a little bit of a temper issue.

- I'm a little worried about Zac...he nearly fell to sleep just now after coming in to help a poisoned Sasha. I don't think he's slept since we lost Muscle, or even Dana before that. I've decided to take a quick rest at the Pokemon Centre, as much for his sake as for Sasha's.

-  As I got closer to Lake of Rage I was stopped by a trainer. After defeating his Nidoking, he informed me that he'd been beaten by a red-haired trainer who'd mocked his pokemon...that sounds like Blake...so he's around here somewhere too. Probably following Team Rocket no doubt...maybe there is good in him still afterall? Maybe if I deal with Team Rocket, I'll find Blake again. With these intentions in mind, I finally arrive at the Lake of Rage...and to a phenomenal sight. There, in the middle of the lake, is a majestic beast; the Red Gyarados. But it seems to be on a rampage...I guess I oughta step in before it causes mroe damage.

- It was a tough battle. I nearly lost Toby, who opened up with using Yawn. The Gyarados knows Dragon Rage, and none of my pokemon have near 80HP, meaning two hits will finish any one of them. Next up was Zac, who used Strength to pull the Gyarados' health down. After a few pokeballs, I finally caught it in a Great Ball. I named my new ally Bryan. He's in the PC atm; I can't risk putting my team further in trouble against Electric Types.

After the battle I met a guy named Lance; he looks to be a bit of an odd one, wearing a cape and some sort of superhero get-up. But he talks sense. He's told me that Team Rocket are the ones responsible for causing Bryan to rampage, due to a strange radio signal coming from Mahogany Town. I've agreed to investigate with him, so he's given me time to rest up. We'll be meeting relatively soon.

Team Rocket...Blake...get ready.

In case u guys were wondering i did start documenting my diamond nuzlocke. I added a special rule where when u reach fight area u must  make a new team but when u go back to sinnoh u switch back again. Players can use either team for elite four however.

I'm sorry for how late this is. I wrote it out in more detail about a month and a half ago, but my laptop crashed as I was about to save it, and I never got the motivation to re-write it. Here it is now though, Chapter 12 (although the quality compared to previous chapters is appalling which I apologise for). Chapter 13 will follow soon enough.

------------------------------------------------------------

CHAPTER 12 - Contemplating Complacence

Team Rocket...for the second time, I'm having to take on this group. And I just know that Blake will be here somewhere too. I'll admit, I'm worried. What if he's started to follow in the footsteps of Team Rocket? What if he's joined them? Whatever the case...I have to continue what I've started.

- Could they get a wierder hideout? I entered the market and was met by Lance attacking the salesmen with his Dragonite. He then revealed a staircase under the floor. But now we're down there, it's just getting wierder by the second. I've come to realise that the decorative statues hold cameras, because each time I pass one, a grunt comes to take me on. I've had no issues so far. We've made it through the first floor.

- Well...we can see where the trouble is. There are Electrode linked up to a generator, which is no doubt supplying the radiowaves. The entrance is locked by a password though. And in order to get that password, I need another two passwords. This is NOT going to be fun...

- Finally got the second password. Slowpoketail was the first. The second was Raticatetail, which was supplied by the wierdest grunt I've faced yet. He seemed almost friendly. Now I just need to get back to Petrel's study and unlock it.

- As I was about to enter Petrel's locked room, Blake stopped me. Zac stood ready to fight, but it seemed Blake wasn't up for battling. Instead he just complained. He told me that he'd battled Lance, and was soundly beaten. Lance had then told him that he doesn't love or trust his pokemon. It echoes what I said last time I saw him.

This time he left without any violence, which I guess is a good thing.

- GOTCHA! Petrel fled, not realising that he'd left a Murkrow behind. The Murkrow can mimic Petrel's voice perfectly! I unlocked the door, but was stopped by two rocket admin's. For a moment I thought I was screwed. But Lance jumped in and battled alongside me. I've never seen someone battle so cleanly. He swept most of their pokemon aside...he's an insanely powerful trainer.

Once they'd left, we headed in. We had to knock the Electrode out. I opted to catch one instead. It hadn't tried to hurt Zac in the slightest, so it was an easy catch. I named it Riker. He's an energetic bugger, but only when it suits him. Lance then gave me HM05 - Whirlpool, by way of thanks for helping. I didn't need anything really - just beating Team Rocket, and seeing Blake contemplate his actions...that was enough for me.

- Having left the hideout, my pokemon and I are preparing for the next gym, belonging to Pryce. Ice types are going to be tough, so I've had to re-arrange my team. We're headed there as soon as we've prepared and as soon as I've gotten a jumper of some description. It's apparently freezing in there...pun not intended.

God this is amazing. You're making me want to do one... But I don't wanna lose alexis and mana, since they both kinda defy nuzlocke rules (vulpix took forever to find... and heracross in azalea town wasn't much better)
electric type is easy, since i can get the codes to get a mareep egg(from primo), but I'd need to find a good grass type if I chose totodile, and breeding the wooper I'd want is gonna be a pain if i choose chickorita again...

If you can get a second copy of SS/HG then you can start afresh there. If not, and if you're adamant on using SS, you could always send your current pokemon over to another game, then bring them back over once your Nuzlocke is over? Or of course, just do a Nuzlocke on another game altogether.

Here is the next chapter, to make up for how short the last one was. Enjoy.

CHAPTER 13 - Best Served Cold

Our training for this test was arduous, but worthwhile. We're almost ready to take on Pryce now, and I feel confident in my team. My only worry right now is my poor luck against Gym Leaders. I just hope I don't lose another friend in this endeavour...

- As I entered the gym, I was met by a rather cold blast. I was right to wear a jacket, because the floors were covered in ice! The aim is to knock blocks of ice into one another to allow passage through to the next room...great, I have to think as well as battle...

- The trainers here have been tough. They use a lot of moves to keep themselves healthy, which makes it difficult to take them down. Fortunately for me I have Bryan, Florence and Seel who can take their hits all day, so I've been able to wear them down over time. I can tell even now though, that Pryce is going to be difficult to surpass.

- Pryce is a tough old guy. His opening pokemon, a Seel, was dealt with by Riker's Spark attack quite easily. However his Piloswine was more difficult. I was forced to switch out, giving him an opportunity to set up hail. Bryan came in, and hit hard with Surf. However, he was hit just as hard by a Blizzard attack. It became a tussle on who would win the match-up, but Bryan's speed won it for him in the end, albeit not by much.

The final pokemon was Dewgong. I decided to switch to Riker again, while Dewgong was immediately on the offensive with an Aurora Beam. Riker used Light Screen, and managed to greatly reduce the damage coming his way, allowing him to survive the next hit. A quick Moomoo milk patched him up, and so he began hitting with Spark again. After having used Rest, we decided to take a different approach. Using Light Screen again, Riker then followed up with 2 Screeches, before beginning his Rollout onslaught. It wasn't enough...

...When the final blow was set to be delivered, Dewgong jumped in first with an Ice Shard...critical hit. Riker rolled helplessly, before he joined the others and fell. I brought in Bryan, who seemed more than prepared to take the Dewgong on. Two bite attacks later, and we'd won...but not without the price I had feared would be paid.

Pryce handed over the badge and TM07 - Hail without a word. Not an apology, nor anything to make me feel any worse than I was already...

- Great...just great...Team Rocket won't just lie down will they. As I buried Riker, I recieved a phone call from Prof. Elm. He'd been calling other trainers too, all about how Team Rocket were sending radio signals...and all are from other popular tunings. I'll be headed there once my team have rested and come to terms with our loss...
