Another Official Meet? Why, how fantastic!
Where? London, of course.
When? Saturday 21st August.
How can I be there? Sign up for it. But only if you meet our requirements. Only those of 16 years or older are allowed to attend. If you're 16 or 17 (and in some cases even when you're older), you must ask your parents or guardians for permission. That's a legal requirement. Which means it's really important.
Exact times and locations will be decided in private. If you're interested in coming, say so below, and we'll grant you board access in the coming weeks. And here's something we wish to make clear: if you're going to walk off and do something by yourself, it's your own responsibility to find the group again. We're not waiting around for anybody.
We are not interested in complaints about the location. The meet will be in London. We're not going to travel around the country to meet anyone, we don't want to go to a place for one day, while spending the rest of our holiday elsewhere, and we don't want to inflict such a burden on every single other member who's coming either. Times aren't negotiable either.
(As for the small print: We reserve the right to refuse admittance to members for any reasons we consider appropriate. If, for example, you joined the site two days ago, you need to forgive us for not being quite as sure about your intentions. However, generally the meet is open to anyone. Whether myself and Joeno get on with you or not, we'll welcome you there on the day).

Also, probably won't come, as I'm not the sort of person who come into meet-ups. I rather meet people of my own choosing and how close I am to them. Not my cup of tea, frankly.

Just remember that you need to check with the council what size gatherings are allowed to be. I went to a YouTube gathering once and it was technically over the legal limit so we had to be careful with what everyone was doing.

Is there a deadline in mind before you'll stop accepting requests to go? I still haven't decided whether I should go and I don't know how long I'll be thinking. I'm not expecting to be able to sign up a week before the actual day, I'm not that ridiculous. xD;
I think my main problem... is feeling comfortable with getting there. ^^'
I've never been to London via train, and I've never been further than Birmingham on a train on my own.

About a week in advance is the deadline. We want to know before we go to London, and a few days to make our lists and prepare some things.

Well Jen if you come at 7am you can always chill in London for a few hours before the meet.. that is awfully early though xD; but if you get in at 7pm you'll miss most people, and everyone left will probably be in the pub.. plus you'd have to leave soon after arriving right? So 7am looks like your best bet, if you want to come.

Hmm.
In 2008 I left Hull at half 6 to get into London at 10am. I think I left at 5pm (which saw the angry angry version of Jeroen, oops) and that didn't seem like long enough really (well, now I look back on it. At the time I was ready to leave after 10 minutes.. ^^;;). In 2009 I left Hull at 7 to get into London at half 10, I believe, and I left at 8ish at night, I think? Which again, didn't seem like long enough because I wanted to drink more in the pub. =[.
Although that's solved this year with me stopping over for a few days now that I'm an Admin, and I have Adminy stuff to do. That and get Mike drunk one night.. yes.
It does depend on how far you've got to travel and how long you want to stop for after the meet. Usually the 'Official' (slang for "Time not spent in the pub") Meet is usually from 12/1ish to about 4 as we've got to collect a lot of people who come in from all directions. Last year some of us met up at Victoria Station iirc (Me, Jeroen, Peter, Mike, Leon, Kay and Alex) and then we went to find Rex and so on, so the official start wasn't until 1 although it's all part of the meet Experience.

Tim and I should be getting there at about half 11/12ish and leaving as late as we can (I assume.. read 11-11.30pm). We still need to talk through happenings and who's staying where etc. I'm sure if you come, Jen (Please do!) you'll be able to find something to do or someone around?

Just an update to say I won't be going, I need to spend my money wisely right now with uni coming up and in my opinion, this isn't wise spending (especially as I'm already spending money on a short-notice holiday).

Because of preparation needs (travel, meeting places and all that) signups will end after tomorrow, that being Monday 15th. If you're intrested in coming and sure you can come, make sure you do sign up. For those still not sure you'll have to make your decision by tomorrow. Also, If you've signed up and doubt you can come now would be a good idea to withdraw yourself.

Agreed. I'm already looking forward to next year's meet in fact, and I wish there were more meets throughout the year, even if just the extra one at Easter. Everyone was lovely as always at the meet, and the picnic was a success, even if it did break the tradition of eating in Leicester Square. I'm interested in seeing the news article on the meet so I hope that'll be up soon.

Great pictures Kay/Lottie! They've also helped me find everyone on Facebook since I don't know anyone's surnames. I like the sound of a Christmas Meet, and providing I had the money and a place to stay then I'd be happy to go up North. It's not bad up there, just cold. :P

As such a meet is unofficial and we'd obviously not know about it or be involved in its organizing (hence the unofficial), I'd appreciate it if such discussion is kept out of this topic, so we're not aware of it. While attendance may be a seperate matter, officially we'd like to keep ourselves clear should any problems arrive.
