Title: What are your Expectations for 7th Generation?
Post by: Mockery for One on February 07, 2015, 14:44
My expectations are some new types, and the fact that they need to change these names:

Electabuzz->Electrabuzz
Victreebel->Victoreebell
Feraligatr->Feralligator

And, a region based off Mexico!

Because Unova was MURICA, and Kalos was all Francey Par-CORE hohoho le poisson stuff, maybe the new region would be based on Mexico, complete with mariachi!

Oh god no.

I can't really give any expectations for the 7th Gen, only speculations. Although with that said, what we do know about future main series games so far is that Ken Sugimori is very much under the impression that the games need to be simplified and that duplicate items and attacks need to be removed.

In terms of big stuff like the region and so on, I think that it will either be based on South/Central America, Africa or will be a completely original region not really based on anything. I could probably draw some other expectations but I'd need to have a re-look over some interviews and other stuff and see what comes up.

Woah woah woah. We're talking gen 7 already? Seems a bit too early.

Anyways, i'll just give a list of things I want want:

-Either Team Rocket's return or a least an evil team better than Flare
-Some original typings (you know you want to see a fairy/fire type)
-If possible, a game for the wii u and/or 3ds like XD Gale of Darkness
-A champion that uses all 3 starters from that gen
-Possibly final evolution starters that are pure typed
-A new eeveelution

Things I expect:
-To keep the "choose the order you face each one" E4
-A fire type without fighting as the other one if it has another type
-A pokemon great in theory but bad in execution
-A pokemon bad in theory but awesome in execution
-A new evil team as bad, if not worse, as Flare

Why can't they base this new region off of Canada, or did Sinnoh do that perfectly

I want to see a Pokemon that is Poison/Fire, preferably a Mega Evolution for Weezing, another Normal/Fighting type, a rat like Pokemon that is Dark type and carries around a sack to pick up objects it finds on the ground and stashes them in its secret nest, a Mega for Hydreigon, a Sphynx Pokemon, a Dark type Gym, the return of N who actually helps you in a way similar to Cynthia, Steven, and Lance did, and certain attacks and moves become TMs and HMs. To be more precise, the TMs I'd like to see are Sky Attack, Moonblast, Pay Day, Metronome, Body Slam/Heat Slam/Heavy Slam, the elemental Punches, Mega Punch, Mega Kick, Inferno, Heat Wave, Hurricane, Trump Card, and Boomburst. HMs I'd like to see Foresight which has the effect on the field to reveal hidden Ghost Pokemon and Kecleon as well as safe passageways and hidden items in certain areas.

What I would like, but don't really expect, is:

Some Pokémon will be able to have 2 abilities simultaneously.

Mega Charizard X will have Tough Claws and Levitate.

Beedrill will have Swarm/Sniper and Levitate.

Mega Beedrill will have have Adaptability and Levitate.

Venomoth will have Shield Dust/Tinted Lens/Wonder Skin plus Levitate.

Mew could possibly get it too since we know it can fly.

Mega Altaria will have Pixilate and Levitate.

I could continue for a lot longer since there are a lot of new Pokémon that I think should have Levitate.

Skill Swap, Role Play etc. will only affect the original ability and not the additional Levitate, although it's possible that Gastro Acid could affect both abilities at once.

Mold Breaker, Turboblaze and Teravolt will ignore the additional Levitate as normal.

It will probably have a lot of awesome stuff and actually be pretty good but I'll have to resort to becoming a Juggalo to afford it.

Some more ACTUAL evolutions/pre-evolutions of past Pokemon. They're just overhyping the Mega thing.

I'd like to see some dragons with secondary types that haven't been done before. Who wouldn't want to see an insectile dragon? Or a fairy dragon, yes?

I personally want to see an ice/fire type. But that's just me.

I still think a Fire/Poison type Pokemon makes sense. I mean plenty of Poison Pokemon learn Fire moves and many Fire types learn Smog and have Pokedex entries relating to toxins. Most notable is the one for Houndoom that states that Houndoom releases toxins from its mouth which ignite upon touching the air.

it'll be gen IV all over again with cool abstract animal legendaries and pre/post evolutions of forgotten pokemon like dunsparce and ditto and everyone will complain because theyve got nothing better to do (gen IV gave us honchkrow no-one dare say anything bad about it)

dittos evolution is Ustoo which transforms into a horde battle of the opposin pokemon
dunsparces evolution is all gyrados'y in which its The New Favourite Competititve and suddenly every bandwagon poser is all "i love dunsparce!!!!" "lets suddenly appreciate dunsparce"

we'll probably have a whole bunch of primal legendaries or new megas cos they're determined to run that into the ground i think

dunno what Ideology the legendaries will represent they're gonna do theyve done almost all they can
theyve done time space life death ideals etc. etc.

maybe pee and poop will be the gen VII legendaries

Flygon is a dragonfly but lacks the bug type, and Mega Altaria is dragon/fairy.

Let Generation 6 run its course

Problem with the 5th Gen was it was rather short compared to previous Gens. I understand the main series is now an annual one, but do give us some more of Kalos in either a 3rd version or sequel. I can probably see the New 3DS models as an excuse to launch an all new gen on that like Gen 5 (You know, still compatible with all models, just you get a little extra like the camera for BWB2W2 for playing on the newest model.). Besides, the anime's starting to get really good and the last thing I want to see is either a rush to the league and/or filler arcs. ;P

More new Pokemon

X and Y's worldwide launch was an excellent idea that meant we could dive into the game blind without risk of Internet spoilers ruining it. However, I feel there just were not enough new Pokemon to surprise most of us when seeing them for the first time. I counted 1 in my playthrough. Yeah Mega Evolution's good and all, but I want to run into many new Pokemon again like seeing the 1st gen for the first time again if you choose another worldwide launch.

Something to mark the 20th Anniversary.

Assuming this year's game is a 6th Gen 3rd version or sequels and next year is gen 7. Game Freak and Nintendo are aware of the strong fanbase or it would be nice to have something nostalgic to mark 20 years since the franchise's birth in Japan, like maybe a post game story like the Delta episode involving the game's Team Enemy Vs a revived Team Rocket, Giovanni showing his face again, the Magikarp Saleman is now a billionaire living in a mansion, just nods to the 20th please.

Mega Evolution

To me its sad that you send out your Pokemon and Mega Evolve them right away, so maybe change it around a little bit like you have to earn the opportunity to Mega Evolve during battle like a Mega bar you have to build up somehow. Also maybe attacks that can cancel out an opponent's Mega Evolution? You know, attacks that change your opponent's Mega Evolution back into its normal form. That would spice up the strategies a little more.

4th Gen Remakes

Coz Sinnoh forever! XD

But yeah, I don't wanna wait as long as we did for ORAS Game Freak. ;)

I always wonder what Professor Rowan says on Mega Evolution since his specialty was evolution. He said Pokemon release energy upon evolution. Both team Galactic and Flare seek that energy I noticed.

Maybe there will be a crossover where Team Galactic meets Flare.

Maybe a new region based on Spain, Netherlands, Germany or the UK would be nice. Of course there will be more Pokémon; every game follows the same storyline, but each generation there are some deviations from such formulaic storyline.

OR/AS had a defined post-game storyline which was great. Hope that there will be more post-game storylines. Maybe a long game storyline, then Elite Four, then two post-game storylines. (event storylines do not count)

There'll no doubt be new forms of the main legendaries Palkia, Dialga and Giratina whenever they do decide to remake gen 4. Probably just like our Primal Trio for ORAS. They have not gone wild on 4th gen Megas either, so I guess those will be saved for that (Even though we had tons of new 3rd stage evolutions....).

Course with all this post game story talk, one has to wonder if GF will be tempted to go ahead with story DLC. We've had DLC in the last Mystery Dungeon, Shuffle's gone down the route of free to pay, and the Delta story could have easily been something to test the waters even though it was part of the main game (Still waiting on that Battle Frontier as DLC mind you... ;P)

Game Freak have said they like to surprise people and not do what is expected so I personally don't see a Gen IV remake but instead some kind of integration into a new title. There's plenty of room for 2 or more region on the 3DS cards, so it's not totally out of the question that we see something like it, although personally I wouldn't be surprised if by the time we are due a Gen IV remake, that we start seeing more gameplay aspects migrated out into the internet, which means that Sinnoh could effectively be an online-only region.
Title: Re: What are your Expectations for 7th Generation?
Post by: Angelic Lapras King on March 09, 2015, 18:57
Perhaps, but the main RPG series has been annual since I think either Platinum or HGSS so if they continue releasing a new game every year which is probably a big source of income for Nintendo and GF, they'll eventually have to go ahead with a 4th Gen remake to space out the new gens. Sequels/3rd versions will only get you so far.

Mind you again back to the anniversary thing I mentioned, perhaps there'll be something like a Gen 1 remake for Wii U set in the Mega Evolution timeline or limit us to just the first 151 Pokemon, items and such or hell, maybe Red2 and Green2.
Title: Re: What are your Expectations for 7th Generation?
Post by: Kitt on March 10, 2015, 01:46
Yes...I can see it now Origin Red and Origin Blue. Kanto is going 3D. I always imagined the Sevii islands as 3D and who knows they may even have the Orange Islands league too. Primal birds? Maybe. (/Dragon?)

Diamond/Pearl remakes are bound to happen. Mt Coronet itself is as 3D as it can be. Primal Dialga is a thing, so there's that too.
Title: Re: What are your Expectations for 7th Generation?
Post by: Angelic Lapras King on March 10, 2015, 13:38
Then again, they could just sit down and give us a bog standard 3DS Virtual Console release of the first Gen games with stuff ironed out like Trading between 3DSs, what to do about the Game Counter due to videogame gambling rating laws, etc.
Title: Re: What are your Expectations for 7th Generation?
Post by: JES on April 09, 2015, 16:15
Stupid video game gambling laws.

 Personally, I'd like to see:

The ability to access the PC and transfer Pokémon in the field.

Maybe new legendaries that continue to use the Soar mechanism.

I'd like to see Pokémon Amie and Wonder Trading kept and expanded upon (like being able to scratch the back of your Pokémon, and being able to Wonder Trade more than one Pokémon at a time). Also keep Super Training.

I'd like to see more TMs. Maybe 150 or 200, mostly useful moves like the Elemental Punches that were once once TMs in the past.

Those that can't be TMs be Tutor Moves. If Defog can't be a TM for example, I'd like it as a Tutor Move, so I don't have to a limited selection of Defoggers. I just hate Spin-blockers, so I never use Rapid Spin.

I want them to keep idea of places where you can earn plenty of money and EXP, like the Battle Chateau and the restaurants.

I want the next Dowsing Machine to be more like the one in HG/SS.

I expect that the next remake might actually be R/B/G/Y to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

If so, I want them to go all out, and make the Johto region accessible, and maybe even throw in the Orange Islands.

I also expect to be able to catch Pokémon like Houndour and Murkrow in Kanto that you could in G/S/C/HG/SS.

Some new expectations based on digging, here's some interesting info I've found:

-Data found from mining X/Y shows that it has compatibility slots for two other games.
-Zygarde has two moves hidden in the game data that are currently unavailable
-There is suspicion over Zygarde's low BST
-Game Freak registered the trademark "Pokemon Delta Emerald" late last year
-Somebody reasonably well known in the Pokemon community (Can't say his name here) mentioned that he has a merchandise sheet with 5 unknown/unrevealed Pokemon on them that are being kept hidden.

The speculation is:

-These two slots could be for either the first two Gen VII games or 2 extra 'middle' games such as Pokemon Z and Delta Emerald. It would make more sense for Gen VII to just use Bank for transfers, so that doesn't rule out the two middle games. It could also just be there for internal testing purposes or something.
-Zygarde is to learn these two moves somehow
-Zygarde has a mega evolution we do not know about yet
-This will be a third game, although registering unused trademarks has been done before by GameFreak
-This person believes based on the information he has that these unrevealed Pokemon will be formes of existing Pokemon, as this happened before back in Gen IV with Shaymin (and Giratina too, I think).
-He's settling on the theory that we will get a third/middle game for a 2016 release and then Gen VII for a 2017 release.

Were these Thousand Waves & Thousand Arrows or have they found new moves? Just wondering because the thousand moves look very Zygarde-y but were never confirmed to be his, would be nice if they'd been confirmed xD

Well, no. I probably should have left that as speculation, though personally I think it's almost out of the question that it could belong to any other Pokemon given the Animations, type and effect.

I guess this is all 6th Generation stuff though.

For the 7th Gen, I wonder about the console being used. Pokemon will either be exclusive to the New 3DS, exclusive to an entirely new handheld, or exclusive to that new console which Nintendo announced about a month or so ago (Which some are speculating to be a VR device).

I wish the lifecycle of consoles would increase a little bit. The GB/GBC was oldish when R/B/G/S came out and there was a strong impression that the hardware had been utilized to the maximum, they felt like huge games for the console. The GBA didn't really seem to push much, FR/LG were good but didn't feel like the maximum was being squeezed from the console. I think the DS had one of the best lifecycles for Pokemon. D/P felt huge and very complete, but we ended up going through not only Platinum, HG/SS and B/W but also B/W2 which seemed to cram so much into the game.

I hope that Gen VII doesn't adopt a new console too soon. X/Y was good; it felt like a solid test of 3D, diagonal movement etc. and what could be possible, OR/AS doesn't seem to have pushed the envelope too much; it looks pretty but feels very much like X/Y just in another location. That doesn't bother me too much because the development was done in a very short time and it's not like FR/LG pushed the envelope much either. I think the 3DS still has loads more to explore, for a start the lagging 3D in battles needs to be fixed and they could definitely do more to utilize the whole cart space.

It'd be nice if we could get a 3rd Gen VI game, the first Gen VII game and a remake of D/P/Pt all on the 3DS and then move forward with new hardware from there. I really don't want to see Pokemon move to mobile or this new Nintendo hardware.
