It is quite nice for RBYGSC to finally be compatible with modern games.  Also, Red Gyardos on demand! (I mean sure you can get them on HGSS but Poketransporter at least gives you 31 certain IVs).

Oh and HA Lugia and Ho-oh. Assumingly,

Playing Silver reminds me of the small details HGSS forgets.  Kurt at his desk crafting,  Pokedex station in the morning,  Goldenrod's theme soooo much better in GSC. Loved HGSS in general,  but yeah I think I may prefer GSC a shade more.

A Pokemon RPG has be confirmed for the Switch possibly next year.  I'm gonna guess we're going to see Gen 8 2018/9.

Tournaments / The Magnificent and Majestic Tournament

The Magnificent and Majestic Tournament

Hello my PKMN.NET friends, and anyone else who falls out this category.   Sun and Moon have been for a month now and since I haven't done this for years how about a big tournament?

Yessir, a lovely tournament to bring out that rush of adrenaline and noradrenaline to the extent your body thinks it's staring down a massive bear.  What can be better?

Let's start with some questions I just know you have!

So let's begin..
A tournament is a structured contests where parties agree on terms their conduct is bound by ('the rules') sometimes for a prize both material and non-material.

Okay I have that..
Sweet.

What are the rules my good lady?

What are the rules, indeed.   For the time being, and because it's a cute novelty, let's only use Pokemon in the Aloha dex,  even if this tournament runs past Bank's update.  So basically, anything that is in the Aloha dex, expect, of course, uber, like that Bat thing and that Cat thing that looks like a fire type but it's not really a fire type but it should be a fire type.

(The Bat and the Cat? Oooooh I get it now.)

Single Battle.  The battle of kings (and queens.)

Item clause, species clause, all that stuff.

The number of participates will be decided once I gauge how much interest is in this, but I'll try to limit it down to an even number.    To enter, simply post your name, typically available times, a unique single or double digit number and I will do the rest.

How will match up times be decided?

I understand many of us live on the other side of the world from each other and obviously many of us are adults with jobs, and work and stuff and even younger people have school commitments.  So when the pair ups are revealed, the two will have a week to battle each other (can be extend if both parties agree,  you must make it observable though – post in this topic).  If one party fails to make a reasonable effort and fall out from the time limit they will be disqualified. If both, I may disqualify both, try to find a replacement or I dunno, I'll think of something.

To join this, you really must consider if you can spare at least half an hour once a week.

What is the structure of the tournament?
In the word's of Pater Gabriel 'Games Without Frontiers'  It's a knock out.  One round, sudden death, can be best two out of three, post if you'd like to see that on your initial application and we can defiantly do that.

So Casual, competitive?
Not gonna lie.  Gonna have to probably use competitive Pokemon, I've certainly EV and IV bred mine.

What will the winner recive.
Same as the loser.

Which is..?
Nothing?

Really?
Oh alright.  You will be taken to an elevated plateau where crowds upon crowds will watch your majestic accession to the land's royalty.  In the winter low-hanging sun, you will gaze upon the endless frosty green under the cliff and proudly reflect, with a small tear in your eye, the struggles, the trials and the blood and sweat you went through to reach here.

OK that's-
Don't be silly x. you'll probably receive a good bred Pokemon If I ever get round to doing it.  Also you can tell your friends and family that you managed to win a video game tournament with probably less than 20 people.

Besides, battling with other members is fun, right? .. Right..?

Voice chat?
If agreed by both parties.

Can I upload my battles to YouTube or livestream or something like that.
If agreed between both parties.  Agreement must be observable so post here.

I don't see my question here and I've read through at least once.  Promise.  Can I ask it.
Yes.

Oh Good because I wanted to kno-

OH GOD SHUTTUP.

Ah whatever.  Feel free.

Happy Battling!

On Blue, and I am running with:

Squirtle
Beedrill (Weedles are so much harder to find in Blue, but I very rarely leave Vidrian Forest without one.)
Nidoran Male
Pikachu
Spearow
Jigglypuff

I'm really enjoying it, to be honest it's better than my hazy memroies of it being buggy, slow and ugly (expect that Wigglytuff sprite.  What.)

I'm at Mt. Moon so far, will be doing the Mew glitch soon.  Probably going to buy Yellow/Red when I get paid next month.

David Bowie - Loving the Alien.

This has been one of my favoruite songs by him for years now.  Every time I listen to a song from him, it just hits hard what an amazing legend the world has lost.

Just rewatched the first episode of Higurashi... I want to watch the next episode but I'm a little scared and I'm basically a giant coward ):

I watched that with my girlfriend, and one of us was scared and had to be hugged by the other one for comfort because of all the scary things. :(

(It was me)

ASLO HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN.  I hope you had a good one.

Gaming / Re: Game of the Year 2015 edition
« on: December 31, 2015, 17:57 »
My Game of the Year is probably Fallout 4, it mostly met my exceptions and whilst I have a few things I wish were different  (mostly the dialogue system which I thought was limited compared to past games). I found the world interesting and like Bethesda's other games, the best part is exploring and finding small self-contained stories. I know there is a lot discussion about the 'dumb down' perk system and whist I do miss skills, I thought there was enough interesting combinations to create an varied character.

I have Bloodbourne and the Witcher 3, and I haven't played them as much as I would have liked too, but there games that came out this year that I found excellent.  The Witcher 3 has an amazing open world and such an interesting story, it wasn't so much about plot twists, but the characters and writing made were superb.  Defiantly something I need to come back to one day.

Bloodbourne had an amazing atmosphere, such a madding, dark and oppressive environment.    It's a game that requires practice and skill (I died in the first area so many times until I just “Got” it) but the payoffs are amazing.  Taking down the first boss – the first boss made me feel amazing.

Talking of smaller games, I have a lot of love for Resident Evil Revelations 2.  it's clearly a smaller budget Resident Evil game but I think this works in the game's favour as it doesn't have as many expectations a big budgeted game would have, it's a lot more slow-paced with an emphasises on survival and puzzles and an interesting story.   It was built around the episodic approach, and it shows in it's design, but I felt each episode gave a good chunk of content and it was nice to have something to look forward to every week after I finished work. I love it so much after buying the PS3 digital copy, I bought a PS4 physical and will probably end up buying a Vita version. I'm hoping that Revelations becomes it's own sub-series.

On a similar note, because HD Remasters are now a big thing, my favourite one this year is defiantly the GameCube remake of Resident Evil.  Whilst my love for the series started at 4, and for a long time remained that way so playing the update.. of an update was an eye-opener.  I have played it myself to finish, but it was equally as tense watching my girlfriend play.   I hope she doesn't mind me saying we both screamed the first time you see a Crimson head.  Such a wonderful game, demanding you take choices in everything you do – do you shoot that zombie and risk it raising up again later?  Take down all the zombies in the area and make this your safe haven but that leaves you short for other zombies?  And then there's Lisa Trevor...  Not too long after this I bought Resident Evil 2/3 and from the PSN Store and fell in love with the series beyond Resident Evil 4.

Disappointment of the Year:  METAL GEAR SOLID V

It's.. not the game itself, because the game is fantastic.  Amazing even. It just controls and plays so well and each mission is just a massive sandbox of fun.  I liked the cast, I liked the story, even if was minimal but the reason it's here because of what happened to it post-game where some very questionable business practices started to creep more and more with every patch and started to affect the Single-player game itself  in a negative way.  It's a shame, a big shame because without that happening it would have easily been my Game of the Year.  Easily.  It's a Gameplay Mastership imo.

It's been a really good year for games I think and I'm looking to next year for...

Final Fantasy XV – If it comes out next year.  If it's meant to.
Persona 5 – I loved, love Persona 4, and this one is shaping up nicely.

Street Fighter V –  Bit sad I'm going to have to wait for Urien and Juri.. but Bison is ready to do and that makes me happy.

Zelda Wii U -  Must buy a Wii U next year if it comes out.

How come no-one likes it when I try and have a bit of banta?

I can't comment fully because I don't know the whole situation, but I will say in this instance that, again, a lot of people have known each other in this topic for a long time.  You just get to understand people after awhile.

15
I'm unlocking this.

The Name Master, you're taking this too seriously, there are no arguments or any (real) insults going on.  A lot of the people in this thread have known each for years, it's banter.

This is actually the reason why we don't like people playing the mod and would rather people report things if they think there's rule breaking going on.
