other uses/occupations for pokemon in the world
« on: April 28, 2016, 16:02 »
i need ideas for occupations that i could pokemon-ify (eg the pokemon actos in the BW manga or an electrician who uses magnemite or something, idk) for my fanfiction, just for world building and variety's sake. i figured this'll make a good topic to talk about them, though.

im talking about things that could actually work - like how team rocket use pokemon to commit crime, officer jenny uses growlithe, etc. you could technically poke-ify pretty much anything.

i have 0 idea of where to post this but i thought this'd do, sorry mods & admins

Machoke could be used for heavy lifting at a construction site.
Pelipper could be a postman.
Gardevoir or another Psychic Pokemon coud be a fortune teller.
Rotom could be used as a power source in various electrical devices.
Squirtle or another Water Pokemon could be a fireman.
Chansey could be a nurse, like in the Pokemon Centers.
Kangaskhan could be a social worker, carrying children in her pouch to give to foster parents.

There are endless possibilities!

Kitchens could use fire types to heat up meals
Bars could use ice types to cool down drinks or re-stock the ice
Flying and water types could be used as forms of transport
The police could use flying types to search for criminals/missing people
Water types could tend to gardens (and so could grass and fire types with Sunny Day)
Ghost types could be used in haunted house attractions

That's all I've got just now, but it's an interesting question so I'll probably come up with more later.

Sylveon would make a great hitman ;).
There are plenty of Magikarps in the sea. You may catch and occasional Feebas, but they are gross and ugly, so throw them back. Try as you may to find that red Gyarados, that will never happen, so just give up on that idea.

ooh tell me more

anyway a lot of these are really nice ideas, thanks guys! I feel like ghost types would be good for rescue missions too where people cant get to (eg caved in mines, whatever). a lot of canine pokemon (especially growlithe, lillipup, and possibly eevee) could also be service animals. dark type pokemon could possibly scout and fighting pokemon could be bodyguards
