So I've been trying to learn how to use the pokeradar to find shiny pokemon. If I have everything right, then the rules for chaining should be:
  • Pick up patches that are 4 spaces away from you
  • Never fight pokemon at the edge of the grass
  • Always go for the patch with the biggest shake. small shakes are likely to break the chain
  • If you can't fit these conditions, reset the radar by walking 50 steps
  • never walk straight up, because you can never clearly see if the patch straight above you has shaken or not (unless you have seen 4 shakes elsewhere)
  • use repels. super repels are most cost efficient
Have I got everything right? If there's something I'm missing, let me know in the comments :)
Anyone mannaged to use this item and snagged a shiny from it?

I think people used to use repels to make sure the chain wasn't broken.

Then again, this was back in Diamond and Pearl I think and I'm not sure if repels exist anymore.

actually the shaking thing is go for the crazy shaking grass, not the softly shaking grass. soft shake is just wind and there's nothing there

repels are also super duper handy
