Never could top you on that snow one from what I remember?

17
It's been sort of interesting watching from afar as a lot of the 'old guard' make their way through uni.

18
I think I joined about 10/11 years ago (on my old account) so I would have been about 18/19 then?? Which is still older than a lot of you are now.

I just lurk now and shake my head muttering about the "youth of today".

I'm only a few years younger, but I had the same feelings looking through this, and noticing that I was older when I joined than most of the people are in here...

Erm wow, I've been here for over 9 years... Don't really remember becoming active until I was in Uni though.

Lots of fun competing at MKDS Time Trials.

Same! And every time I learn it again I'm like "okay I totally get that, awesome, now I'll never forget again" and then ohhh wait.

Also the link Xagor posted has made me very happy :') but yeah, numbers are a long forgotten phenomenon, I occasionally see an x^2 and get all nostalgic. On the plus side, I'm pretty sure I know most of the Greek alphabet by now, plus I'm really well practised at drawing curly versions of uppercase letters..

Glad you enjoyed it. If you have time you should check out all the entries (if you haven't already), some of the older ones are great.

I never went far enough into maths itself for numbers to disappear entirely. I have just remembered that I actually deal with normal numbers fairly regularly in my work, even if it's just to compare the energies of two different structures.

I have a feeling a few people here might enjoy this:

(Or maybe I'm too much of a geek...)

I find I use trig quite a lot, but then that's for making bond angles etc in my atomic models correct, and checking buckling angles in said models after they've relaxed.

Generally, you'll find that as you go on in maths (at least in my experience from physics / chemistry), actual numbers will become less important. Sure you might need them for constants (but those often get set to 1 anyway, see atomic units), but otherwise you tend to not see much other than the number 2...

I still hate differential vector calculus, and never really understand div and curl.

That is impressive. Is it permanent?

Depends on things like work etc.

Team Building / Re: Pidgeot Help
« on: February 11, 2014, 10:53 »
Thanks for the help Richard!

I think that looks pretty much like what I was expecting.

I sort of doubt they'll ever really use it for competitive battles in any way, so it's really going to be more of a present / trophy for them to own. (Well their work does tournaments sometimes, but most of them don't take it too seriously)

I think I'll probably try and go with Defog and hope the breeding doesn't take too long. Fortunately I've got a 6V Fletchling to start things off. (Bit unfortunate that I can't go directly from that, since I need to fit Defog in, but it should save a bit of time at the start.)

Team Building / Pidgeot Help
« on: February 11, 2014, 10:29 »
Hey everyone, bit of an odd request here, but I was hoping someone here might be able to help.

Basically, someone I know's favourite Pokemon is Pidgeot, and I'd like to if possible get them a 'competitive' one. I know it's vastly outclassed by other things, so by that I pretty much just mean a 5V Pokemon with a good nature and decent moves.

I looked at the Smogon set for B/W, but I was wondering if the X/Y changes made any difference? (+10 Speed and Defog being useful.)

Anyone here got any thoughts? Thanks for any ideas / help. Don't worry about fitting it into a team or anything like that.

Finally got Bank at the weekend and finished moving everything over.

Now to breed things and fill in all the gaps and stuff. Sort of want to have a complete Pokedex (or near complete) sitting on Bank for future reference. I'll probably leave the Legendaries on game though.

Freaking finally. I actually badly need the box space, transfer is kind of secondary for me. Breeding spares take a lot of room.

I'd been thinking the same kind of thing.

I'm really low on space on X, so was probably going to put some stuff on there before and after doing all my transfers.

Will have to wait until the weekend at the moment to sort things, because don't have internet/wi-fi at home yet.

Senpai daisuki!

Erm, it's not that type of confession is it?

Nope, no older members here. Can't think what you're talking about.

TV and Movies / Re: Godzilla, Hero or Villain?
« on: January 09, 2014, 02:35 »
It will usually vary from movie to movie whether he's treated as a villain or hero. Sometimes it'll even switch within a movie. There was a period where they did try and sell him more as a hero and protector though.

Godzilla is basically a force of nature and will do pretty much what he wants. If a bigger threat (i.e. Ghidorah) comes along he will try and stop that, but I'm not really sure that's done for the particular benefit of humanity.
