Title: [Disc] Bokurano-style RP?
Post by: Gingerbread Meowth on September 07, 2013, 15:43
It's been a long time since I've RPed on these forums, and I want to know; would any of you be interested in an RP inspired by the anime/manga/light novel series Bokurano. For those who don't know, Bokurano is a series about 15 children at summer school who are pulled into a 'game' where they pilot a giant mecha to fight against other mechas from alternate versions of earth. However, once you've piloted the robot once, you die without fail.

Would anyone be interested enough to join if I made this?

I've been away for a while and just came back recently, it's a shame the RP board is pretty dead, so I applaud any attempt at changing that - write away!

...So these 15 children are made to pilot robots and all die because of it? That seems rather gloomy.

So basically, you are forced to pilot a robot, then die afterwards? Doesn't seem like it would last long, with all of the characters dying off quickly.

Yes, everyone does die off, but the battles are few and far between with lots of plot and explaination in between. The first battle also ends with no deaths because it's a demonstration.

Well, wouldn't the have to make new characters after each character's death?

I could probably allow people to make two or three characters if they wanted to, seeing as the robots need 10-15 pilots at least, and control NPCs when their characters all die off. You'd also have to control your characters' families as well.

...this is starting to sound like quite a body count - just why do these kids die anyway?

Well, there is a huge number of deaths early on. The kids die on their turn because the robot uses their life energy to work.

Who invents that sort of thing?!

Although I'm not sure what Bokurano is, would it be a possibility to make it so that with each 'death' you half your life force or something, so that you sort of loose your soul gradually or something? That might extend the life of the RP a little.

But, as I said, I don't know what Bokurano is, so I'm not sure if that'd work.

That could work, possibly depending on the length of the battle. For eexample, the first battle was as simple as smashing the other robot open and crushing the cockpit, while the third had a LOT more movement and effort because of the opponent's tentacles restraining their robot, and therefore took much longer.

Modify the plot a bit and it may work.
