Shiny Totodile is just too predictable. A green crocodile, where have I seen that before? Oh, I know. EVERYWHERE!
Don't get me wrong. Shiny Totodile does look pretty cool, but predictable.
all the green ones that don't look like trash are just there.

I think it has something to do with trainer IDs, just like the Lucky Number Show on GSC.
You'll need to trade with other people to get a higher chance of being able to visit Mirage Island. I think the in-game trades work for it too.
Nope, it's just the personality value. IDs are for the Loto-ID Center, and your Secret ID is for shiny pokemon.

Every day, Pokemon RSE generates 2 bytes, if the 2 bytes match the first 2 bytes of a pokemon in your party's personality value, Mirage island will appear as long as that pokemon stays n your party. I have tried this with over 100 different pokemon in my party and the old man in Pacifidlog still doesn't see Mirage Island. If i am dong something wrong pls send help.

The Odd Egg is a 1/8 chance of being a shiny, and the pokemon inside is generated as soon as you receive the egg. So you'd save before you get the egg, hatch the egg, and see what the pokemon is. If it's not what you want, you have to reset. When you're breeding the pokemon is generated as soon as the egg is, and since abilities don't exist yet hatching eggs is super slow.
