At the Pokemon Game show it's just been announced that a new series will run alongside Pokemon X/Y - Pokemon The Origin (or Pokemon Origins).
The show will be based around the Pokemon Adventures manga and will feature Red battling alongside Green and challenging the gym leader Brock.

Will this make Pokemon popular again? As in give it more time on Cartoon Network and/or later times, like how it used to run.
From what I've read, this is a one off. With any luck, it'll be popular enough for a full series I would hope.
Be interested to see how this would be dubbed if they do dub it. Would characters like Brock and Oak retain the same VAs as the normal anime, or would this be a whole new cast of VAs?

I'm kinda also intrigued as to whether or not this will be something to promote a rerelease of Red and Blue/Green for the 3DS Virtual Console too. Probably a bit much for a simple VC release, but then Japan did get Mother 2 billboards for Mother 2/Earthbound's rerelease on the Wii U VC, so....

All I'd want is somehow wifi compatible. I'd love to relive gen 1 with an actual way to play competitively. I know it's asking too much, but... I can dream. ;;

I just want them to program trading and battling in period. This isnt just another GB game they can get away with not incorporating the link cable options in, these games are build around it.
And remembering all those Mystery Dungeon anime one offs as well as that BW2 anime trailer, this makes me think the VC rerelease promotion could be more and more possible....

Based off the manga? That's not what I heard. But yeah, my only real complaint so far is the fact that Geodude still floats for some reason, and that's a really minor nitpick. Other than that I'm totally stoked to see this thing.
Apparently this is just a single special, not a series.

From what little I remember, I quite like Naruto's japanese VA, so this might not be so bad.
Interesting news is the special will be nearly 2 hours long (Or 90 mins I guess depending on Japanese ad break), airing from 7pm to 8:49pm on the 2nd October in Japan.
Okay, if they don't air it over here, they better at least give it a US DVD release....

Looks like Japan will get the OVA not only on a DVD but a Blu Ray too on the 2nd December. Might consider it as a Xmas present. :3
